Emily's room

1162 Words
There was a loud banging on my door as my father came in. “Oh good, you're here. Go to Emily’s room and keep her calm. She’s freaking out. There has been a rogue attack. I will send warriors to come protect you. Your mother is already there…Can’t have no one hurting my girls.” With that he walked away. I knew the sentiment of “my girls” only extended to my mom and my sister. It had been a long time since I was included in that grouping. I had lost that love for whatever reason. I don’t know why. Only my brother loved me. This I knew. Only one month left. I mind linked Brandon. Are you there? I waited for him to respond.Yes. Waiting for you Little Luna. I quickly made my way to Emily’s room. Emily’s room had the same soft blue carpet that was in our father’s library. She had a king-sized canopy bed in the center of it. Her room was a mini apartment in itself. There was an open-air concept to it. There was a couch that faced a large smart TV on one wall, along with a futon. She had a stained-glass window like all the rooms did in the house. It was 4 feet tall, like most of the windows in the house. Just a few feet from the window was a vanity covered in makeup and perfumes and hair accessories. On the other side of her bed was a roll-top desk that was hardly used. It had a rolling chair and that is where I aimed to go. Her walk-in closet was stuffed with clothes and dresses. Next to her door was her dresser. It was huge, bigger than mine. It was also overflowing, the drawers barely closed. I walked in just in time to see Emily wailing and crying in our mother’s arms. I rolled my eyes and walked to her desk. I sat in her rolling chair and waited for the theatrics to stop. I looked at Brandon, “So what’s going on? All I was told was a rogue attack and nothing more.” My mother came over to me and before anyone could say or do anything and she slapped me across the face. “There is an attack, and you're over here being callous about it? Can’t you see your sister is freaking out? Can’t you see she needs some love right now? You’re over here by yourself acting like it's nothing and this is just a minor disruption of your day. How dare you? Who do you think you are?” No one said anything or moved as I brought my hand up to my face. It was red, hot, and I could feel exactly where each of her fingers were. I felt wet on my lip. She had actually cut my lip this time. I looked over at Brandon. His wolf was dangerously close to the surface. He was getting ready to defend me. I pushed a calming aura into the room with no one realizing what I was doing. Brandon started to calm down. Emily started to merely pout and laid down on her bed. She was getting sleepy. My mother laid down next to Emily. She started humming a lullaby and played with Emily’s hair as she fell asleep. I yearned for that kind of love from her. I longed for that kind of relationship where I could go to my mother and get some love. I looked over at the couch longingly. My mother looked over at me and then the couch . “Oh for f**k’s sake Amelia, just go lay down on the damn couch. Brandon can take the futon. It's more comfortable. Go into Emily’s closet and get the extra pillows and comforters. Get comfortable. This is going to be a long night.” I moved stiffly. This was going to be a long night. I went and got the blankets and pillows. I gave some to Brandon. I knew he was trying to mind link me, but I just didn’t have it in me. I shook my head a little so only Brandon noticed. I took my pillow and blanket and set up my bed. Luckily, Emily’s couch was large and comfortable. My mother came over and kissed my forehead. She then went back to Emily and curled up on her bed. I started to fall asleep as I heard the howls of the border patrol, except it was coming from a different direction than where Serina and I were. It was odd that there was more than one area under attack. We have had peace for so long now that an attack seemed out of character. I looked at Brandon, who was on high alert. He was checking the window to make sure that it was locked. All good? I mind linked. Oh? So now you want to talk? The window is locked as of right now. Your sister is kind of an i***t and your mother is a b***h. I hope you find your mate, and he takes you from this place. I hope you get your wolf and she’s amazing. You will far outshine these losers as Luna. With that, Brandon closed the mind link. I rolled over and silently cried myself to sleep. It wasn't my first time nor would it be my last. I knew this. I just had to get the feelings out. Later, I felt myself being picked up and gently put in my bed. I was too tired to protest. In a few hours I was going to have to get up and go try on a bunch of dresses and mail out the invites, so much to do. Also, comfort my pack and do my parents' duties. I'm not sure who put me in bed, but the rest of the night I was able to sleep. All too soon, my alarm went off. I shut it off and slowly opened my eyes. I got up to take a shower. I ran the water hot. My face stung from where I got slapped. It all came back to me in the shower. We were attacked again. I couldn’t help, but wonder if my father had done anything to f**k up any treaties I put in place. The rogues that attacked Serina and I were weak and feral. Usually, feral rogues were more intense and hard to beat. There were only 2 at the waterfall, more in other areas. I guess I can’t go back there any time soon. f**k my life. I punched the wall, knowing that Serina would heal all my wounds. The only ones she couldn’t heal were the ones that my family placed on me. I sighed as I got out of the shower. I couldn't help, but wonder if it was due to the ball or something else that these rogues were acting like this.
