Chapter six

(Aiden)

I linked my mate telling him that there was a rogue attack at the elementary school. My Lycan pushes faster. I see a shadow over us, and I know it’s Killian. A pack member who is also a teacher had linked me, telling me that rogues attacked the school. They locked down the school but there were still kids out there.

I got to the school, and I could hear kids screaming, but I could also hear gun fire. I saw Markus run into the school in his human form. Killian shifts back to his human form and quickly gets dressed.

“Elena?” I heard someone call.

“Elena, where are you?” I heard another female call.

‘Your highness, there’s a human in the playground trying to get her children back, but she’s outnumbered by the rogues. They are going to kill her’ Sara, the teacher who linked me earlier links me again.

“Go, we’ll take care of the ones here” Rick, my royal beta and one of my best friends said. I quickly make my way to the playground with Killian hot on my heels. I heighten my senses to hear what’s going on.

“Drop them. Now” I hear a female say and my Lycan pushes faster at the sound of this woman’s voice. Suddenly, I hear growls followed by five shots and a few whimpers. I stopped, looking at the scene in front of me. I saw the woman drop to one knee placing the guns beside her as the two children ran to her. I see their little bodies shake and I smell the saltiness of their tears. I see a rogue shift to his human form coughing. This makes the woman turn her head towards him.

This whole time my body had seemed to be frozen. For some reason, I just stood there and watching her waiting for her to turn around and look at me. The sweet scent of strawberries and chocolate fills my nose and my Lycan wants her to turn around, but he also seems frozen inside me.

“Stay here. Close your eyes and cover your ears” the woman says, and her voice sounds like music to my ears. The boy hugs the little girl close to him, covering her ears, and she covers his. The woman stands grabbing her guns and stepping over the dead rogues.

“Who sent you?” the woman asks, not seemed to be faced that a wolf twice her size just shifted to a human. The rogue coughs but doesn’t answer.

“I’m going to ask one last time. Who. Sent. You?” she asked again, this time through gritted teeth.

“Go to hell b***h” the rogue coughed.

“You first” she said, placing a foot on his chest and shooting him twice in the head. Killian moved beside me, making her turn around pointing the gun at us. My breath hitched as soon as I saw her face and those beautiful eyes.

‘Mate’ my Lycan, Storm howls.

“Elena don’t” I heard Markus say. I see four women run past us to my mate checking on her and the pups.

“It’s her” Killian whispers beside me. I can feel his emotions through our bond.

“Mommy” I heard the little girl say. Elena hoisters her weapons before picking her daughter up and looking at her arm. I sniffed the air and I could smell blood, making me want to growl, but I held back, not wanting to scare them.

“Mate” I hear Rick, my beta growl. I followed his gaze to see he was looking at the blonde woman with brown eyes. The girl looks at the other girls before looking back at Rick and running towards him.

“Detective Morales”, Markus calls, making my mate look at him as he walks towards her.

“Are they okay?” he asks, looking at the kids.

“I’m fine sir. You will have my full report on your desk by the morning”, she says.

“I don’t care about the report, Elena. Are the kids okay?” Markus asks.

“Kiana has a small scratch, but she’ll be okay”, she then looks towards me and Killian tilting her head to the side, looking a little confused before recognition made its way to her eyes.

“Aiden? Killian?” she questions, making Killian and I both smile. I saw her eyes widen with fear. Everything felt like it was going in slow motion. I watched as she took out one of her guns, pointed at Killian and I before shooting twice, only she didn’t hit us. I turned to see two rogues slide to my feet before shifting back to their human form. Dead.

“Damn” Killian said, and I nodded in agreement.

“This day just keeps getting worse”, Markus says before looking at Elena.

“We need to talk” Markus says to her, making her nod once.

“I’ll see you at the station?” she asks.

“No, I think it is best if we went somewhere else” Markus said, looking at me.

“I agree” I said. Elena turns and kneels in front of her kids.

“It’s okay babies. Everything is fine now” Elena said, placing the little girl on the floor and tearing a piece of her shirt before wrapping her little arm that was already starting to heal. The little girl looked up at me and my breath hitched. She had long wavy dark brown hair and purple eyes, like Killian. I looked at the little boy who had short dark brown hair and Nordic blue eyes with a hint of purple, like mine.

‘Pups’ Storm howled with joy.

‘What?’ I asked dumbly.

‘We have pups’ Storm howls in glee.

‘We have kids’. I link Killian and I hear his heart skip a beat at the news.

“We all need to talk. Let’s head back to the pack” I said, looking at my mate, pups, and the women who were with her. They single-handedly took out twenty rogues that were at the school.

“What about the bodies, your highness” the she-wolf asks. She’s Rick’s mate and new female Beta. Elena looked at me confused. She had no idea what was going on and I knew I had to explain.

“I have someone coming to clean this up. Now let’s go. I have a car outside” I said.

“I have my own car. I’ll follow you” Elena said.

“No, we’re riding with you” Killian said, leaving no room for argument. Elena nodded and we followed her to her car. The twins continued to look between Killian and me until we got to the car. Elena opened the trunk of her car and got out the first aid kit. She cleaned up Kiana’s arm, which was almost completely healed.

“Kaiden, could you take off your shirt for mommy?” she asked the little boy who did as she asked. The little boy had a bruised handprint on his shoulder. I saw Elena’s hand tighten around the bottle of alcohol before taking a deep breath. I could tell she wanted to go back to school and kill the rogues all over again if she could.

“Elena”, I heard a female call. Elena turns to the four women, which included the new Beta female. The women look at Kaiden and the beta female growls before touching Kaiden’s shoulder.

“It’s okay, aunty. It doesn’t hurt”, Kaiden assures her.

“You are such a big boy. I’m proud of you for being strong and protecting your sister” she says, making Kaiden smile brightly and giving me a glimpse of his dimples. The same dimples Killian has.

“Did you find out who did this?” I heard one of the women ask.

“No” my mate said.

“Are you really going with them?” I heard another female say.

“I have to. There are many things that we need to talk about”, Elena says.

“Mommy, I’m hungry” Kiana says.

“You don’t have to come-”

“Are you kidding? Haven’t you learned anything after all these years?’ the hunters say.

“No women left behind”, Elena smiled, before they did some type of handshake. Elena turned to the kids.

“What would you like to eat?” she asked. What I didn’t expect was for the kids to turn around and look at Killian and me, which made everyone look at us.

“My wife is making dinner at the ca-house. I can have her make the kids a snack when we get back”, Markus said, looking at us in confirmation.

‘Anything they want’, I linked him. We got in Elena’s car. She put the kids in the car and made sure they were buckled up before she got into the driver’s seat.

“Where are we heading?” she asks.

“Follow the SUV” I told her. She nods and follows the SUV. I took this time to look at her. She was wearing black jeans, a white polo shirt with a badge that said Detective Morales, and she was wearing black sneakers. Her hair was in a braid. She has more curves in all the right places since the last time I saw her. She also has a full sleeve tattoo. I looked closer to see she had a large wolf with a thin black line on her left eye. She also had a dragon standing next to the wolf and the dragon’s tail circled around the wolf protectively. She also had dark, night skies with stars, the full moon, and a few shooting stars. By what I could see, they were in a forest by a river. She also had another small wolf and dragon. But what took me by surprise was that both wolves have my eyes, the same eyes Kaiden has and the dragon’s have purple eyes.

We pulled up to the castle and I could see the kids mouth drop along with Elena’s, which made me and Killian chuckle.

“Wow, it’s a real castle” Kaiden says.

“Yes, it is. Maybe if your mommy says it’s okay, I can show you around”, Killian says, making Kaiden smile widely and nod his head vigorously. We got out of the car and headed inside just as Tristan was coming down the stairs. Tristan looked at us before his eyes landed on Elena. Her eyes automatically went to him.

“Tristan?” Elena asked, shocked to see him here.

“Elena”, Tristan whimpered, and she kneeled, opening her arms, making him run towards her. This is the moment I realized Elena was the one who found Tristan, stood up for him, and fed him.

“Shh it’s okay. Let it out baby” she whispered as his body shook with his sobs.

“She’s d-dead. My mommy… is dead” he sobbed harder. Elena sat on her butt, still holding Tristan. Kaiden and Kiana moved to each side of their mom and also hugged Tristan. Markus walked in with the others and watched as Tristan cried. The women stood protectively around Elena and the kids before sitting down. We don’t know how long it took for Tristan to calm down and we didn’t care. All we wanted was for him to let it out and not hold it in, because we knew it was going to be bad if he held it in.

When Tristan pulled back, Marie took him to wash his face before bringing him back to Kaiden and Kiana.

“Eat your snack kids. I’ll be in the office down the hall if you need me”, Elena told her kids and Tristan.

“They are safe here” Killian tells her. She looks at him and nods before following us to the office. As soon as the door closed on the office, I asked the first question.

“I know you” I said, pointing to Elena, “but who are the rest of you? How did you five take out twenty rogues?” Markus, Rick, Killian, and I looked at the women in front of us.

“I’m Jackie. I’m a werewolf” Rick’s mate says.

“I’m Martha and I’m a witch” the red head says.

“I’m Kathie and I’m a vampire” the black-haired girl said.

“I’m Tania and I’m a hunter”, the dark-skinned girl with pink hair said.

“We train six days a week”, Jackie said.

“But you don’t smell like rogues” Markus says.

“That’s because this is our pack. We may not all be werewolves or supernatural beings, but we protect each other no matter what” Tania says. I looked at Elena to find her looking at me and Killian already.

“I’m just really good with guns” she shrugs.

“How good?” Killian asks, arching an eyebrow.

“She passed every single course in our department with flying colors. All the shots are perfect and faster than me” Markus says, making me arch an eyebrow at Elena.

“Does Elena also train with you?” Rick asked his mate.

“She started training six weeks after she gave birth to her pups”, Jackie replies.

“Where are the kids father?” I asked, looking at Elena, though I already knew the answer to my question.

“Here” Elena replied, making everyone look at her. I was going to ask a question when I heard a commotion outside the door. I opened the door to see my royal gamma, royal Delta, and royal general and my best friends sniffing the air. Their eyes went behind me and all three of them growled “Mine.” Before rushing past me to the women who were with Elena.

“Mate”, my best friends say in unison and Jackie squeals, making Rick chuckle.

“Why don’t we continue this meeting later” I said, since everyone was distracted now from finding their mates. Elena went to leave but I held on to her hand, making her gasp at the sparks.

“Wait, please” I said, and she took a seat again. Killian closed the door, leaving the three of us in the office.

“Where have you been? We’ve been looking for you everywhere, but without a last name it was difficult” I said, running my hands down my face.

“Why were you looking for me?” she asks.

“We couldn’t get you out of our heads after that night. Something told us we needed to find you. We found the girl you were with at the party, but she wasn’t no help”, Killian said.

“Yeah, Sasha” she said, shaking her head. She began to tell us what had happened with her ex- best friend. How the kids bullied her in school verbally and emotionally since they couldn’t put their hands on a pregnant woman. She also told me about her stepfather and how she had to run.

“One day I was craving meat and walked to a diner I had been going to, but my feet were swollen and hurt so I had decided to take a short cut, which was a bad idea. I ran into two stinking, matted-looking wolves. That’s how I met Jackie, Martha, Kathie, and Tania. They saved me and the best I could do to thank them was invite them out for lunch. Ever since then, we have been with each other. They were even there when I went into labor”, Elena says. Killian whimpered lowly, but Elena heard it.

“I had no idea if I would ever see you guys again, but I recorded all the moments I could” she says, looking down at her hands.

“At first I thought that the father was one of you, but looking at both of you… Kaiden looks like you, Aiden, but Kiana looks just like Killian” she says, looking at us.

“We missed so much” I said out loud.

“None of us was at fault. We only had first names and nothing more. The best thing we can do is just start where we can. But I don’t want to cause any problems with your wife or wives or mates, so we can schedule something you can both have time with the kids” she says, looking down.

“You know about mates?” Killian asks, a little surprised.

“Of course, look at my best friends” she chuckled.

“Killian is my mate” I say making Elena look at me then look at Killian. I could see something had crossed her mind before she shook her head.

“How long have you been a detective?” Killian asks.

“Two years. In my previous job I worked in homicide”, she replied.

‘Alpha dinner is ready’ Marie linked me.

‘Thank you Marie. Are you guys joining us for dinner?’ I asked through the link.

‘If we may,’ she said.

‘Always’ I replied before cutting off the link. My vision went back to normal to see that Elena was looking at me with her head tilted. She looked like a curious puppy.

“What happened with your eyes?’ she asks.

“It’s called mind linking. I can talk with anyone in the pack through our minds”, I tell her.

“Do you have any more tattoos?” I asked, looking at her arm.

“I have Kaiden and Kiana’s names on my wrists” she says, showing us her wrists.

“What do your tattoos mean?” I asked her curiously. She looked at Killian before looking at me. The office door opens, grabbing our attention. Kaiden and Kiana enter but Tristan stays by the door.

“Come in, Tristan” I call, and he entered. He stood next to Elena as he watched her give our pups a kiss on their foreheads. What he didn’t expect was for Elena to pull him in for a hug and kiss his forehead as well. Tristan and Kiana sit next to Killian while Kaiden looks at me, taking small steps towards me.

‘Pup is analyzing us. Like he wants to make sure we’re no threat’, Storm says.

“I mean you guys no harm” I told Kaiden. He looked at me for a second and I felt Storm come forward.

“I know” he says, climbing to my lap.

“Ever since I was three months pregnant I had a dream about this massive dark grey wolf with electric blue eyes with a hint of purple and a white, black, and grey dragon with purple eyes. In my dream, they were searching for something or someone. The wolf and dragon always protected each other, and I knew that whatever they were searching for was important to them. Somehow… I could feel it. In one of my dreams, I found myself standing between them as they towered over me. Anyone who would’ve seen me in between those two would have thought I was crazy or frozen in fear, but I was never afraid. I felt…”

“Safe”, Kiana finishes, making Elena nod.

“What about the small pup and small dragon?” Killian asks and I hear Elena’s heart speed up.

“That’s us” Kaiden says while doodling.

“You mean you and Kiana?” I asked and he nodded before stopping and looking at his mom like he realized what he had just done. Elena smiles at him before nodding as if letting him know it’s okay.

“Kaiden, Kiana, come here”, Elena calls and the kids get up.

“Do you remember what I always told you when you asked about your daddy?” Elena asked.

“Yes, you said daddies love us but they are very busy, but one day we will meet them” Kaiden replies.

“Yes. Do you know why I always say daddies?” Elena asks, and the kids shake their heads.

“Because you two have not one but two daddies. Kaiden, Kiana… I want you to meet your daddies”, Elena says, and the kids look at us before running to Killian and I hugging us. Storm whimpered in my head.

‘What’s wrong, Storm?’ I asked, but he didn’t answer. I looked at Elena to see her holding Tristan, who was looking at us with unshed tears.

“Come here, Tristan” I called. He looked at Killian and then at Elena, who nodded at him. He finally came to us, and I hugged him as well. I don’t know why, but for some reason I feel a bond with Tristan.
