Chapter Three

s**t!’ She didn't know how fast she was walking out of the elevator doors when they opened. But Eve found herself out of breath as she paced back and forth inside her apartment. What she felt was all mixed. She was scared but excited at the same time. She was deeply agitated with her mind screaming to run away. However, there was something holding her back. "What is he doing here?" she muttered, biting her nails. Her entire body began to feel chilly. She can't sleep or relax if she keeps thinking about him. And as her final decision, she pulled out her phone and dialed someone's phone number. "Are you free right now? Please, I need to meet you at our secret meeting place,” Eve then ended the call. She frantically ran into her closet and grabbed the thickest coat she had inside. Her entire face was covered with a black scarf, while her sunglasses were still intact. She left her place without looking back and cautiously made her way to the elevator. Once inside, she let out a long, deep breath. Her mind became paranoid after the incident that happened earlier. But was it really an incident? She can't say what the reason was, all she wanted to do was forget that none of this happened. “Whoa, take it easy, Eve. You can finish this one bottle without rushing. What happened? Is it too surprising that you swallowed almost all our drinks?" Bianca spoke. Eve had met her when she was shopping alone the other day. Their bond quickly deepened as they both realized they were in disguise. It just so happened that she was also a model who hates being discovered by people around them. That's when they decided to build a place for just the two of them, far away from everything, where they could relax. “It was nothing, Bianca. I was excited to get a week off after a long time. That was it,” she replied after swallowing the last bit of tequila. “Come on Eve. You wouldn't drink this strong alcohol if it was nothing. I know there's something you want to talk about, that's why you called me, right?" Bianca faced her. As the minutes ticked by, she was starting to feel numb, knowing that she had a low tolerance for alcohol. Sure enough, she had planned to plaster herself so that she forgot something. “I called you… because I wanted to celebrate tonight, Bianca. Cheers!" She stood up and swayed her hips. Eve completely forgot about everything. But it was only a temporary escape from reality. “Alright, Cheers! I just hope you won’t regret this tomorrow. I know you still have work to do, yet you are drowning yourself.” In the end, they both filled their stomachs with tequilas and sang in chorus. “There's nowhere to go… like home. Because I'll be home.” Eve's voice carried throughout the building. Her face was completely covered by the scarf she had worn earlier. But she was already drunk and didn't realize how messed up she looked. All she could see was her surroundings, which were swirling. Luckily, her friend Bianca made sure she got back to the elevator safely. Because she wasn't drunk at all. However, Eve was stubborn and insisted on riding the elevator alone. Which led her to the fourth floor of the apartment. She silently entered her passcode at the door she thought was hers. "Huh?" What's wrong with my access code? Hihi, did I change it somehow?" She managed to talk to herself as she leaned against the door. Her body was immediately tired. Just as she was about to fall to the floor, the door opened. Revealing someone inside. But she didn't recognize even the tiniest bit of familiarity, because she was completely drunk. “There is nothing wrong with your passcode, woman. But you entered the wrong room, let this-” “Hey, I can't do that. Someone might have seen me in this state, and this is my room.” She walked in uninvited. Her legs dangled lazily as she walked over to the gray sofa. 'Huh, even the color of my sofa changed.' Damien closed his eyes for a moment, having just stepped out of the shower after finishing the vodka he'd been enjoying earlier. Ironically, some uninvited stranger accidentally stepped into his place. If he didn't cool down enough, he would throw the woman off his doorstep. Miraculously, he left her sitting on the sofa while he closed the door. He decided to let her in for the night and deal with her inexcusable behavior tomorrow. His feet carried him to the kitchen as he was about to go to bed. And it was too late for him to realize that he was carrying the glass of water back in Eve's direction. “Take off your scarf, woman." He placed the glass of water on the table and helped her remove the scarf. That was the moment of truth when he saw her face. Damien's surroundings stopped, he stared directly into Eve's eyes, which were now looking sleepily at him. He did not understand himself; something told him he had already met her. Not because she was on TV and was a model. He had the courage to say it was for another reason. And while he thought about that reason, he had no idea how his face was getting closer to Eve, who was waiting to capture her lips. It wasn't long before they were both drowning in their warm touches as their bodies were bare. "Where have you been, Eva?! I have clearly reminded you countless times of your meeting with Mr. Heather! But what did you do? Delay? He was the most important person to please in order for your career to be successful!” Her manager could blurt out all the words he wanted to say to her. Because she didn't care, what mattered most to her was how to get to a place where it was faster to meet Mr. Heather. She didn't know how it happened. But first thing in the morning, when she opened her eyes, she found herself naked, next to a stranger she did not yet remember. The rest was a quick scene where she almost lost all the blood in her body after realizing what she had done. Still, she was able to prepare herself and was now running for her career midway to the building. Her top priority was to arrive at their meeting place on time. She assured herself that she would deal with her problem later. At that moment, after entering the room, she frantically reached for the doorknob. “Forgive me for being late, Mr. Heather. Something happened along the way. I'm deeply sorry." She didn't care if her voice was too loud. Eve closed her eyes; she was ready for the shame she expected. " Is it so? Ms. Darlington? It looked like something really happened,” she instinctively opened her eyes. What she saw really drained the blood from her face. Immediately, images of what had happened last night appeared vividly in her mind. She wasn't afraid to find out that the person she slept with last night was the same person she was supposed to meet. What scared her the most was seeing the same person she had been avoiding for the past four years. Damien Heather.
