Chapter Eight

1004 Words
Eva was awakened by the continuous ringing of the doorbell. She felt sick when she went to check it out. Her head hurt and she couldn't remember what happened. “Oh my God, Eva, you look messed up. What exactly happened to you?” Her manager, who was in the doorway, looked at her as if she had just been robbed. “What happened Brenny? How come you're here so early?" She replied and went back to her bed. Her manager watched her movements, then noticed a sticker right on the desk. 'I should also thank you for helping me tonight. Don't worry, I'll take care of everything once I'm gone.' “There was no signature or name. Who was that, Eva? Where were you last night?" Brenny asked suspiciously without leaving his gaze from hers. It was when Eve slowly remembered everything. From leaving her apartment to Damien's grandmother and what happened in the car. "I do. I have to tell you about it. I was with Mr. Heather last night and-" "And what?" Her eyes popped up. Damien's deadly expression suddenly appeared in her mind. She remembered everything she said and was doomed. "Damien and I had a deal to pretend to be a couple-" "Wait what?" he shouted. Eve, on the other hand, almost got beaten up. “Let me finish, okay? We made a deal and that was to pretend in front of his grandmother-” "And you, yes? I don't understand why, Eva. You didn't know him that well. Why do you have to deal with him? What did you do?" He sits up and rubs his forehead. She just couldn't talk about what exactly the reason was. She had no choice but to agree with him. Although her manager was close to her, she didn't tell him how she made the same mistake when she spent one night with Damien Heather. “The last time I had a meeting with him, I lost my temper. He was angry and threatened to ruin my career for wasting his time. I had no choice, okay? And it was all done last night, our deal is over, and I never want to see him again." She mumbled frantically. How awkward it would be to see him again when she had just told him the most about her past with her ex-boyfriend. She couldn't bear to see him again. She felt betrayed. Damien took advantage of her situation and invaded her personal life. "I feel like something more happened. I know you Eva-” “I want a vacation, Brenny. I need a break from this. Away from my career and this city,” she pleaded. She was desperate. She didn't know how to handle the situation if she ever met Damien again. That would be too much. “Get away from Damien Heather, will you? My nerves are aching, woman. Everyone was looking for your presence last night. I was your damsel in distress, making excuses for them, and you can't tell me what exactly happened?" “I'm sorry, okay? Do I really have to give you all my reasons? I already felt naked by how I was being judged. I don't know what else to do. I wanted to take a break from everything, was it so hard?" Eva exploded with anxiety. She felt like she was going crazy. “You didn't grow up with how celebrity lives work, Ms. Darlington. This is the result of the fame you have earned. Why are you making a fuss about it now? Isn't that what you wanted?" Her manager muttered gravely. Yet she can't understand. Everything around her is driving her to the end where she has no choice but to run. She once dreamed of it but never wanted the outcome. "No, I never wanted this. I always wanted a quiet life; everything is f****d up now that I have become a model. I was so fascinated, but I never expected my life to be so chaotic." If Eve could go back in time, she would never go to that place again. She would never go with her cousin and drink and enjoy herself at night. Because that act had brought her to where she was now, where she suffered the most. “I don't know what happened to your life, but don't forget that you made this decision. You can't leave it behind when everything is turned upside down, Eva. You have to face it because that's how it works. We all have our own struggles-” "I can't right now. I'm sorry, there's a lot of crazy stuff going through my head, and I can't fix it in one night. I need a break, Brenny. Please-" "Are you expecting any visitors?" He asked as the bell rang again. Eve shook her head; she rarely had visitors. "I'll look for it. Just stay here, maybe it was just a stalker." advised her manager, and headed for the door. She didn't think much about it because her head was a mess. And the only way to fix it was to stay away from everything. Images of Damien keep popping up in her head, making it hard for her to concentrate. "Mom, I miss you so much! We have come to surprise you with a visit!” A soft, sweet voice called out from inside her place. She knew it so well. Because it was her daughter's voice. "I don't know exactly what's going on now, but I have an idea how it started," Brenny muttered. He watched as Eve's expression changed pricelessly after seeing her daughter now hugging her. “Yssa. My everything, what are you doing here? Who is with you?” “He's with me, sis. It's been three months since you came to visit her. And don't blame me for bringing her here, she deserves it.” Her older brother's voice followed. He was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He looked as dashing as ever.
