Chapter 6

1162 Words
Brian was done meeting with Tristan and, luckily for him, Tristan had struck a deal with him, and now he had to wait for Shaw’s Group decision since the two companies were collaborating this season. When Brian slid into the backseat of his car, he groaned through his gritted teeth, “What the hell happened back there? How could she?” Jeremy sat in the front seat and watched his boss through the rearview mirror. “I want to know everything about that young man,” Brian said, his expression darkened. “No one takes what is mine.” “Yes, sir,” Jeremy replied to his boss. The car drove onto the road and Brian slid through his phone. His phone buzzed, and the caller ID came into view. Brian could feel bitterness in his throat at the sight of Vanessa’s call. “What the hell does she want?” Brian picked up the call and spoke nonchalantly. “What is it, Vanessa?” Brian was getting tired of Vanessa by the day. He felt like the best part of his existence had fallen off and now, he is left with Vanessa’s constant nagging. “Where are you? Where have you been, Brian?” Vanessa snapped over the phone. “It's been days and all I get is this? What is going on? Is it because of that b***h? For goodness sake, I'm pregnant with your child.” “Let's not do this,” Brian replied with a low scowl. “Let's not do what? While I'm out here and utterly alone, you're all over town searching for a lost case.” “Don't you dare call Mia that,” Brian snapped. “Oh, really, now you have affection for her. How dare you try to make me look bad here?” Vanessa yelled at the top of her voice. “You know what, I'll talk to you later, just take care of yourself,” Brian sighed and disconnected the call. “Boss, I've got the information you asked for earlier,” Jeremy said nervously. He didn't want Brian to lash out at him like he did on the phone with Vanessa. It was obvious that Brian was not in a good mood. “What about it?” Brian asked, exuding a chilly aura that made a shiver run down Jeremy's spine. “The name is Victor Thompson, sir,” Jeremy watched his boss nervously. Brian widened his eyes in disbelief, “What do you mean? The Thompson?” “Yes, sir,” Jeremy replied. “How is that possible?” Brian clenched his fist tightly. Could it be that Mia is in a relationship already? Thompson of all people? If this were to be true, that means he wouldn't have a chance to win her back. Brian couldn't bear the thought of having another man around his wife, and now it's even worse that an enigmatic and powerful personality is courting her. “Jeremy,” Brian called out. “Yes, sir,” Jeremey replied almost immediately. “I need you to track down her location,” a dangerous glare danced on Brian’s face. “Consider it done sir.” How dare she go out with another man? I will never allow it, you're mine to keep and no one can change that, Brian wandered in his mind. ** “Are you such you're okay, sis?” Victor asked his sister with a worried expression on his face. “Yeah, I'm fine. Just tell the driver to take us home. I'm sure Tristan would understand.” “Alright, I'll do that, everything is going to be fine,” Victor shot her a warm smile and struck her hair gently. Victor had to go look for his sister when she stormed out of the restaurant at the sight of her ex-husband. Mia was seated by the fountain in her favorite spot. She left the building with so much rage and needed time alone. Victor knew his sister so well that she would definitely be there. All he ever wanted was for her to be happy and live the best life possible. “I'll put a call across, just stay still okay?” Victor fetched his cellphone from his pocket and put a call to the driver to come pick them up. Mia was deeply lost in thoughts with her gaze fixed on the fountain, she usually found it soothing. She turned her head and gazed at Victor, who shot her a broad smile. Mia sighed and reached for his hand and when their hands met, a familiar figure stood right in front of them, stunned by the scene. What the hell is going on? How on earth is this happening? Mia clenched her fist tightly, with her gaze fixed on the figure right in front of them. “What are you doing here, Mia?” Vanessa looked at her with so much disdain. “You can't be here and, by the way, who is that man standing close to you?” “It's none of your business, Vanessa,” Mia fired at her. That woman sure does have some nerves, she groaned, holding her anger. After she took Brian from me, she dared to show her face around me. I'm going to make her pay for everything she has done to me. “What are you thinking about, Mia?” Vanessa interrupted her train of thoughts. “Do you think you can hide forever? I caught you with a strange man just a few months after the divorce. I have always known you were a slut and now, I finally get the opportunity to confirm my suspicions. You know what? I need this on camera, so Brian can see the slut he married,” Vanessa spat out in disgust. “And who do you think you are to talk to her that way?” Victor frowned at the mysterious woman, who had the audacity to talk badly about his sister. “I suppose you have a death wish.” “Oh, really?!” Vanessa scoffed, looking at Victor with so much contempt. “You have no shame, do you? You go around being a scum to a nobody. I feel sorry for you, boy.” Mia’s anger boiled even more at the sound of those awful words. She stood up from her position and shot daggers at the woman who called herself Brian's fiancée. “You know what? The only person that is going to regret ever becoming a slut is you. I know exactly how to handle the likes of you, Vanessa. You have a lot of work to do, because by the time I start to deal with the likes of you, then you'll know who I truly am and how dangerous I can become. But for now,” Mia pushed her aside, her looks becoming deadly, enough to send shivers down Vanessa’s spine. “I'll let you go.”
