Annalynn’s pov
After I got home last night I didn’t want to speak to Jakob. I know I should of probably let him explain himself but I only let Aspen and the kitchen in my room last night. Aspen said she forgot she sent Jakob out to handle some business for her and I should talk to him so I am getting ready to go down to his room so I can apologize for not giving him a chance to tell me what he was doing. Once I got dressed I sent Jakob a text to let him know I was coming to talk to him. I walked into his room and saw the bathroom door closed but I heard him talking to someone. I called out his name and he came out of the bathroom, I asked who he was talking to and he told me no one he said he was talking to himself. I raised my brow and asked why he would be talking to himself in the bathroom. He told me he was giving himself a pep talk because he was starting to feel like he wasn’t good enough for me and felt like I was going to reject him. I pulled him close to me and said, Jakob Lee, don’t ever think that. I was upset because Colette made me think you were with her and were taking a shower in her bathroom.
Jakob looked at me and said, “why in the world would I be in her room taking a shower Anna? You should know by now that I love you and only you. I would never shower in her room even if Kellan was sick and I was checking on him and he threw up all over me or if his diaper exploded all over me I would wait until I got back to our room to shower.” I said I know and I am sorry babe I shouldn’t have let her get in my head like that.
I told Jakob that I was freaking out when I couldn’t find him and that was the very last place I went to check and with my emotions all over the place because of me freaking out I let my guard down with her. He kissed my forehead and said,
“Anna I’ve told you before I do not want Colette. She Isn’t my mate you are and I promise you that just because she and I have Kellan It does not mean I am at any point in time going to reject you for her or even stoop as low as letting her trick me into doing anything. I love you and only you Anna.”
After Jakob and I talked we headed down for breakfast. When we got to the table Hardin and Aspen we already there and Aspen looked at both of us and asked if we were ok. We both said yes and she said good. We sat there talking and I asked Aspen what was the business deal she sent Jakob to take care of yesterday and she said it was for a new client. At first, I let it go because I knew Hardin was looking for new projects but the more I thought about it, it dawned on me that Aspen more than likely lied to me because Hardin, Jakob, and Thomas are the ones who handle the work for the pack. Aspen is only supposed to handle pack related issues and duties. I didn’t say anything to either of them because I knew if something was really going on it was going to come out eventually and Hailee kept telling me everything was fine not to worry. I decided to just try and enjoy the rest of my day.
Aspen’s pov
I felt bad for not telling Anna the truth this morning but I couldn’t tell her Jakob and I were together and where we were because she would have figured out what we were doing. I was in deep thought when Hardin asked me what was on my mind and I said I feel bad for lying to Anna. he told me he felt bad for lying to her yesterday but our reason for lying to her was a good reason and I shouldn’t feel bad about it. He asked me if Jakob had mentioned when he was going to tell Anna and I shook my head and said all I know is he said it was going to be a random day when he chooses to but he would let us know before he does it. Hardin asked if I had heard anything about the test results so he could talk to elder Todd and I said no but I was going to call doctor Morris today to find out if she has gotten them back yet. When Hardin left for work I had the nannies take the pups and I decided to go see doctor Morris instead of calling. When I got to the pack hospital I asked if doctor Morris was busy and the nurse told me she was finishing up with a patient but she would let her know I needed to speak with her. I sat down and waited. When doctor Morris came out she asked if everything was ok and I told her yes I needed to speak with her about the test and she said,
“Luna, I have not received the results yet but I did receive an email notifying me they would be in within the next day or two. I also found out that the doctor who requested the DNA was from a pack out west and has lost his title as pack doctor for sleeping around on his mate.”
I thanked doctor Morris and said to notify me when the results come in. when I left the hospital and headed to my office. I mind-linked Anna and told her I needed to meet with her in my office. She came up and asked what was wrong. I told her I had just met with doctor Morris and that the results should be in within the next day or so but I also found out that the doctor who requested Jakob’s DNA was fired as pack doctor for getting caught cheating on his mate. Anna asked if I knew where this doctor was from and I told her out west. Anna looked at me and then started laughing. I asked what was funny and she said,
“That piece of trash was banned from her pack for sleeping with her Alpha. Isn’t it a little funny that this doctor was fired for cheating on his mate just like the Alpha of her pack was? How do we know she wasn’t sleeping with him too?”
She had a point how do we know that she wasn’t and was maybe holding them sleeping together over his head to get Jakob’s DNA. I needed to talk to Hardin first so I told Anna not to say anything to Jakob. I told her to tell him about the test results but nothing more.
