CH.22

Aspen’s pov

When Anna and I got back from talking to Amanda, Jakob was still in the suite with the pups. I opened the door and Juniper and Cassia both yelled “mama” I kissed my beautiful pups and said were the three of you good for uncle Jak? Jakob laughed and said,

“yeah they were little angels.“I said oh goddess what did they do? He said, “honestly Asp, they were good for me.”

I said thank you for watching them for me and he said, “anytime you need me and I'm available you know I'm more than happy to come and sit with my favorite little nieces and nephew.”

I laughed and said they are your only nieces and nephew. He laughed and raised his brow then said “for now.” I said oh no no no there won’t be any more pups any time soon. I'm still struggling with the triplets.

Jakob said, “why don’t you take them to the daycare for a few hours a couple of days during the week?” I told him I had thought about it but I couldn’t bring myself to take them and leave them. He said, “you leave them with the nannies sometimes.”

I said it’s kind of different because they are here in the suite when I leave. He said if you want I can go with you one day and see how they react to being there. I thought about taking Kellan to see how he reacts to being with all the other pups.”

I thought about it for a minute and said you know what? That sounds like a good idea Jakob. I’ll talk to Hardin about it later and I will let you know which day you have Jellan that we can go. He said “sweet. Now I got to go see a beautiful she-wolf about a dinner away from the packhouse.” I laughed and said have fun.

After Jakob left I was sitting on the couch reading while the pups played on the floor when I heard “hello my child.” I sighed and closed my book and turned to the moon goddess.

I asked what was wrong now and she chuckled and said, "why must you think my popping in means something is wrong?” I said well let's see, every time you have popped up it’s because something has gone wrong or you are here to warn us something is about to happen.

She said, “that is true but I am only here to check in on you and the pups.” I said we are all fine. The pups are growing as they should and I am not as moody as our last visit. She came and sat beside me and said,

“I can sense you are a little more calmer. What changed?” I said well Hardin and I were able to spend some quality time together without the pups and it felt like it did when we first completed our bond.

She smiled and said “that is good to hear my child. I am happy things are getting better for you.” I said can I ask you a question? She said, “of course, you can.” I said what is your real name? I know you must have one other than the moon goddess.

She smiled and said “I have only been asked that 1 other time my child. Many years ago a young wolf around your age asked me that same question.” I said did she get an answer? She chuckled and said “yes my child she did. Before I tell you my name would you like to know who that young woman was?” I nodded and she said “the young woman who asked me that question was Hardin’s grandmother Willow, Amanda’s mother.”

I said really? And she said “yes my child it was. Now that you know I will tell you my real name. My real name is Esmeray but you may call me Esme.”

I smiled and said you have a beautiful name and thank you for sharing it with me. She said “you’re welcome my child see you again soon.” and she was gone. I sat there thinking about what she said about Hardin’s grandmother and smiled. I went back to reading my book until Hardin got back and we got the pups ready for dinner.

Jakob’s pov

Anna and I went to a steakhouse for dinner then we went for a drive and ended up at Hardin’s cabin. We didn’t go to the cabin instead we went out to the lake. We sat there talking about the triplets and Kellan and I told Anna about my idea with the daycare thing for all 4 of them and she said it sounded like a good idea. Anna told me about her talk with her mom about her wolf and said it wasn’t uncommon for a wolf to wait until they felt their human part was ready for them to come forward and I said I was glad she talked to her mom about it. Anna was staring up at the night sky and said,

“I absolutely love coming out here. This was one of my favorite places to come as a child. Hardin and I would swim until dark and our grandparents would make us dinner over a fire and then we would eat smores and sing along with my grandmother while our grandfather played the guitar.”

I said I remember coming out here with y’all before they passed away and camping out. I loved coming here too. After my parents died Hardin and I would come to sit by the lake and I would look up at the stars and point to a bright cluster and say that was my parents watching over us. Anna slid closer to me and laid her head on me.

She said, “I’m sorry you had to deal with losing them at a young age Jakob.” I wish I could have comforted you then but I was still too young.” I smiled and said I know if you could have you would have sweetheart.

Anna and I went to the cabin and got 2 blankets and when we got back from the cabin I made a fire. We stayed up for a while just staring at the sky and Anna asked about some of my favorite memories of my parents and I told her every one of the memories I have of them. Anna asked what age I started drinking and I told her I started drinking at 16 and used that as a form of medication to deal with losing my parents and then I started sleeping around at 17 as another form. She asked if it helped and I said not really because after I sobered up the pain came back and the sleeping around was more of an anger issue because I was never as gentle as I am with her and I was not into romance it was always rough and once I was done that was it. I even told her that there were times I just got up and left because I couldn’t get off. Anna just sat there and listened to me opening up and spilling things only Hardin knew. When Anna spoke the question that came out of her mouth was one I wasn’t expecting. She asked if her and I weren’t mates would I be with Colette because of Kellan. I turned to her and said Anna, there is no way I would ever willingly be with that woman. She is another Daphanie as far as thinking she is better than everyone else. I don’t know if she is like her as far as men go but I do know that if she was willing to crawl in bed with me while she was wasted then I could only imagine how many other guys she has been with and then she waits until after our son is a little over a year old to come find me to tell me.

Anna said, “that is all I needed to know babe.” she then leaned in and kissed me.

This kiss wasn’t like any other usually they are filled with a hunger for me but this one was more passionate and sensual. I smiled when she pulled away and we laid back looking at the stars until we fell asleep. When we woke up the fire had died and the sun was just coming up. Anna and I headed home and as soon as we got there Hardin was getting ready to get in his car to head to his client’s house.

He asked where we had been and then said “nevermind. You both smell like smoke so I'm sure you were at the lake.” Anna said, “yep we stayed out there all night talking and staring up at the stars.”

Hardin said “you love that place don’t you Anna?” she said “yes I do. It’s one of my favorite places.” Hardin said “you can go there whenever you want sis.” once he left for work Anna and I went up and showered and got ready for breakfast.
