I slumped onto the velvety sofa, utterly exhausted. I felt a hollowness in my body, gnawing at me like an unsatisfied hunger. Every ounce of energy was vital for my impending first shift tonight, beneath the luminescent full moon. As the weight of anticipation settled on my shoulders, a deep ache throbbed within them.
