“I’m your fated mate, Elena”
“ You are safe now, Elena.”
“If you are not Marissa, then who are you?”
“She may not be Marissa, but soon enough she’ll turn to one.”
"If he wants you, he will want you, and you can never escape from him,"
“Never approach or even tangled yourself to the Alpha Three. Especially Mason Mones, he is the worst of them all, beast of the beast.”
“But I can’t help it. Can you Stop me?”
I woke up from the dreams of my memories, recalling everything that had happened in two days. From Mason claiming me to be his mate, until the time I kicked him.
What is wrong with me?
I shook my head off to faced the reality of a new day. The sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting a golden glow across my room and the clock on my nightstand reminded me that it was time for me to go to Eldoria Academy, as my first Friday.
After the usual morning routine, I found my father in the kitchen, sipping on a cup of coffee while scanning through the newspaper. His eyes lifted when he noticed me. "Morning, Elena," he greeted with a warm smile. “Morning dad.” I sat with him to eat my breakfast before going to school. After a moment of silence, dad opened up that he was applying for a police job in this town. He was a captain back in Michigan, so I am confident that he would be accepted, maybe not now, but he will be.
“Good luck dad.” Was the last thing I say before I got up and went to school, using my bike.
Upon reaching the school gates, the atmosphere seemed charged with an unspoken tension. Students exchanged glances, some filled with fear, others harboring anger. They are following me with their eyes, following me until I parked my bike.
I used to getting judge and stared at by the students ever since I started schooling here, but today is different, it felt different and seems different. The tension of the glances at me is much more heavy than the last time. I don’t know why, but I have this deep thought back in my mind, that somehow, I know what this is all about. I take a lot of courage to walk up until the crowded hallway, filled with students, filled with more stares. I became the focal point of a collective gaze. Whispers trailed behind me like a haunting melody, leaving me unsettled and isolated. The reasons behind the sudden shift in the school's atmosphere eluded me.
My first class was a sea of hostile stares, and I can’t still escape it. I sank into my seat, grappling with the sense of humiliation without knowing the reason of it, but every stares I get, I feel like I am being humiliated, I think this is enough to show me that setting myself comfortable here, is as hard as I thought.
he bell rang, and as I moved through the corridors, the hostile gazes still followed, a silent accusation hanging in the air, until I arrived the cafeteria, where everyone stops doing what they are doing, except for staring at me. The crowd inside this cafeteria quiets, like someone died. The only thing I can hear is the steps I take to Olivia’s tables and the whispers of judgement to me.
“What just happened?” I asks them as soon as I sat table with them. “You didn’t know, what you did?” Polly asks me and the boys are avoiding eye contact with me. “You just humiliated the future CEO of the Mones Alt, and that is the worst thing that someone, like you could’ve done.” She added. Humiliated the future CEO of the Mones Alt?
It seems like I am the one who should feel humiliated because I am getting everyone stares like I did something horrible, something bad that cannot be change.
"Elena, what have you done?" Olivia exclaimed, her eyes wide with concern. I look at her and asks her “What have I done?” the next second, she showed me a video of me and Mason from yesterday, where I kicked his leg that sent him down from the floor. “You insulted, not only the richest man in this town, but also the leader of the Alpha Three, which I explicitly told you to never include yourself with them!” She said to me. “I feel sorry for her to be honest. New girl, new victim. Without knowledge of us all.” Jimmy opened up who is still not looking at me.
Fear and regret tangled within me as I realized the consequences that awaited. The shadows cast by my impulsive decision were now closing in, threatening to engulf the fragile normalcy of my life.
I get the phone to Olivia and watched the video again. It almost have millions of views in Twitter and Youtube. The comments are filled with concerns about what would Mason do to me, and some are hates. But one comment, with couple of likes got my attention. It was a comment that sent shivers down to my spine.
‘That girl looked exactly like Marissa. The one who died.’
And even in the comment section. That name still follows, and haunt me.
Who is Marissa? And why everyone speaks like I am her.
