Ch.3 A House Guest

1035 Words
Lilli Pov I slam my bedroom door and lock it closed like that could stop him if he wanted in. I'm royally f****d now. He's the last kind of person that needs to know I'm half demon. I look in my mirror and fix my hair to cover my short red horns. I file them almost daily to make sure they can't be seen through my hair, but they are very persistent. My hair being wet doesn't help at all. I sigh and tie a red bandana around my head and throw on a pair of black leggings and a gray hoodie. I take a deep steadying breath before coming back downstairs. I turn to find him rattling around in the kitchen. I sit down at the counter to see he's.....cooking. "So, you want to tell me what a Cambion is doing hiding in a small town like this?" He slides a glass of red wine in front of me and I frown but give him a nod of thanks before taking a sip of the delightfully burning liquid. "I don't live as a Cambion, nor do I wish too. So, I moved here, it's quiet and peaceful." He nods but thankfully stays silent. "Now are you going to tell me, why you are in my house?" He smirks while looking back at me, his eyes landing on the bandana. "You peaked my interest, that's difficult to do. There's no way I was going to let you slip through my grasp, especially after you threw me into a bookshelf." He plops some eggs and bacon onto two plates and shuts off the range before walking around to my side of the counter and setting the food down. Just as I bring a fork full of eggs to my mouth, he yanks the bandana from my head, revealing my bloodied horn stumps peaking out from my wet hair. His demeanor quickly changes. His face grows stern and his jaw clenches. He pushes my hair away from them and I wince slightly, dropping the fork to the plate with a clank. "Do you really hate yourself that much?" His words catch me off guard and I stutter over my useless tongue. His fingers fall from my horns and travel down the side of my face, his eyes meeting mine. His hazel pools highlighted with a hint of sorrow, which disappears as fast as it arrived. "It's really none of your business, Mr. Marqx." He backs away and begins eating his food while staying silent. I finish my plate of food as he does his and I gather them placing them into the dishwasher. I cross my arms over my chest and meet his eyes. "Have you gotten your fill of the freak show, because at this moment I'd love nothing more than to be asleep in my bed." He arches an eyebrow at me. f*****g smug prick. "Go ahead, I'm not stopping you, I'll stay on the couch." My hands fall to my sides and my finger nails dig into my palms, I close my eyes, to stop them from changing to their crimson form. "Please...Leave.." I temper my anger the best I can, as it rages through me with claws much sharper than my own. He gets up from the seat, the stool leg screaming against the tile of the kitchen floor. I keep my eyes closed knowing they are no longer blue. I patiently wait for the sound of the door but jump as I feel to firm hands on my waist and a large chest pressed against my back. "I'm not going anywhere. You're mine now, little girl." I swallow the bile building in my throat and turn around opening my blazing red eyes, I open my palms and clench my jaw at the sight of fire running through my veins. "GET OUT." I speak, my voice backed by a much stronger deeper and distorted one. The fucker steps back, looking me over and grins. "God, you're so f*****g sexy, Lilli." I roll my eyes and fling my hands in the air, my annoyed body going back to normal. "Fine, if you're not going, I am." I saunter with purpose to the coffee table and grab my keys. I reach for the door but am blocked by a massive wall of flesh. I stumble backwards after impact, slightly dazed. His hand falls to my lower back, keeping me from falling. My eyes land on the movement of his few wild caramel blonde strands. "I'm not going to hurt you Lilli, I just want to protect you. You really shouldn't be out here on your own." My eyes narrow as I regain my solid footing pulling away from him. "I've been fine for over a decade. You're the only person that's figured me out. I'd say I'm pretty damn safe. Not to mention I sure as hell don't have the money it would take to pay you for your protection so to speak." His eyes darken, and I feel like I already know what his response is going to be. "No need for money, Lilli. You just will have to owe me one." I sigh and rub my face in my hands. "I'm going to bed, please try not to destroy anything, and don't you dare come to my room, I will incinerate you before you darken my doorstep." I turn and walk upstairs rubbing between my eyebrows at the blooming headache. I slam my door closed and lock it. I starfish over my mattress screaming into the forgiving batting and springs. Im going to let Matilde have it at work on Monday. I truly hope he grows bored and leaves before I get up tomorrow. An entire weekend with him, hurts my brain. I begrudgingly get up and turn off my light. I pull off the leggings and hoodie and crawl under covers. I reach up and rub delicately at my horn nubs. The pain is raw, but it's a necessity to keep who I am hidden from people who don't need to know. I'm not going to deny when his fingers touched them, I felt a fire in me, one that wasn't unpleasant.
