Hades Pov
I most certainly did not expect to enter the library and find a woman like Lilli.
She couldn't be taller than 5'3, her body is slender but curves in all the right places. Her long obsidian curls bounce around her gorgeous face perfectly. But most of all those icy eyes, they pulled me in the moment I saw them.
I've never been someone who runs after a woman, they normally flock to me. It took me by surprise that she kept shuffling her feet further away from me.
Part of me immediately saw her hesitancy toward me a challenge.
I follow her through the library my eyes lost in the way she involuntarily swings her hips. The way her black skater dress swings at her mid thighs makes my pants mercilessly tight.
"Right here, is there a specific novel you're searching for?"
My eyes snap up as her soft rich voice captures my attention. Before she can turn to look at me my body looses all control and closes the space between us. I trap her between my arms against the bookshelf.
Her eyes grow wide, and I expect to see fear flooding them but in turn her icy blue gaze darkens and her features grow stern. She lifts her head and shoves her palm into my chest throwing me backward into the opposite shelf. Her once friendly and calm expression is cold and dripping in malice.
It throws me off to say the least, I observe as she takes a deep breath and her body regresses to its previous state, sweet, calm, and collected.
"Sorry about that, was there a specific novel you were looking for?"
I move my lips to speak but nothing comes out. I regain my firm footing and straighten my clothing.
"Ummm....The picture of Dorian Gray."
She nods and turns away from me, her slender finger tracing the line of books till it pauses and retrieves the one I requested.
I can't help but let my mind wander to what it would feel like to have those delicate fingers tracing my chest.
"Here, Now I assume you don't have a library card here. Are you by any chance staying with a family member or renting an apartment. you need to have an address to obtain a card."
I follow her like a lost puppy dog as she speaks, I'm halted by that f*****g counter again. I watch as she types away at the computer and then turns her sapphires towards me expectantly.
"Ohh...uhhh...7652 Pomegranate Lane."
Her eyes soften slightly and everything in me wants to pull her to me and take her on this f*****g counter.
She returns her eyes to the computer and types furiously.
"Full name, best number to reach you by, Id, proof of residence, and birthdate please."
She holds her hand out and meets my eyes as I dig my wallet out of my back pocket and hand her all the essential items.
"Is it going to be a problem, if I photo copy this?"
She waves my ID at me.
I narrow my eyes on her and smirk.
"Not if you tell me what time your shift ends."
She fumbles with my card slightly while setting it on the photocopier.
"Fifteen minutes ago."
Her voice now has a thread of irritation weaved within it.
She returns and hands me back my card, and other paperwork. She hands me library card and scans my book before handing them both to me.
I stand just breathing her in for a moment, her scent of chilled night air, it's immensely refreshing.
"Sir...You can leave now."
Her fingers shoo me like a dog and I scoff slightly.
"Well you're coming with me, Lilli."
Her eyes grow stern again as she shuts down the computers and locks away the till.
"You are very mistaken Hades Marqx, and don't think you're title will change my mind."
My brows furrow at the thought she knows who I am and still is refusing me.
I follow her out the library after she sets the alarm code. I make like I'm returning to my car while she locks the doors and throws the keys in her purse.
I watch as she gets into her black convertible, and wait for her to drive out of the parking lot and down the road a bit till I start my car and follow her. I stay behind her quite a ways so she doesn't get alerted to presence.
She pulls into a cute little two story brick built home. I drive passed and then circle back around and park a couple of blocks away.
What the f**k am I doing, this is the opposite of lying low.
I talk to myself as I exit my car and approach her house. Luckily the sky is dark enough no one can really see me, the lack of streetlights in her neighborhood is appalling.
I lean up against her door and listen. I hear the faint sounds of water running upstairs and I turn my attention to her door knob. I pick it easily with the lockpick I always carry in my pocket.
I close the door behind me with a soft thud and keep my steps light as I scan her home.
It's minimal Her kitchen is small and homely. The living room consists of a coffee table, television, and sofa.
I sit down on the sofa and notice her keys in a small dish on the coffee table. I pick them up intrigued by a small pendant baring a crest that hangs from them.
I've seen this crest before but for the life of me I can't place where, or whose surname it belongs to.
"Graves, Mr. Marqx. My full name is Lillith Graves, and I suggest you leave my home, and forget you found it."
I turn as I hear the c*****g barrel of a shot gun.
She may be holding a gun aimed at my chest but I can't help but stare at her pale thighs barely covered by the red towel.
I raise my hands in retreat and she approaches me still holding her gun in my direction.
"Why are you in my house?"
Her names echoe through my head and then it clicks.
"Lillith Graves, you're a Cambion. I knew there was something different about you. Normally your kind don't look so...."
Her eyes narrow and she sighs placing the gun on her kitchen counter.
"Human...I hide it well, you're the first to figure out that I haven't told. I'm going to go get some clothes on. Help yourself to anything in the fridge, I have a feeling I won't be rid of you so easily now."
Her voice is dripping in irritation, but she's right, I'm not going anywhere, anytime soon.
