Hades Pov I pace the living room floor, I have no idea why I feel the incessant need to protect her. she's right in saying she's fine, lord knows she could defend herself, but no matter how hard I try I can't seem to make my body move in a direction opposite of hers. I crumple onto the sofa and bury my face in my hands with a groan. I close my eyes and all I can see is the magma running through her veins making her flesh glow and her vivid sanguine colored eyes. The way her demon voice shook the earth below us. I kick off my boots and lay on the sofa, that's entirely too to small for me. I really should leave. This women could kill me in a heartbeat. But, my damn feet won't let me. ---------------------+----------------------- I wake up to the sound of muffled cries, it throws my nerves into a tizzy. Before I can even wake up fully my feet are racing up the stairs and I pick through her bedroom door. She stands wide eyed with tears streaming down her face. her arms are wrapped around her bare breasts, and only when I notice the drips of blood reaching her forehead do I realize what I walked in on. I grab the blanket off her bed and wrap her up. she clings onto the fabric like a safety net. I push away her hair to see her horns have grown about two inches overnight. Then I look down to see the bloodied file on the ground by her feet. I clench my jaw and meet her soft eyes for a moment, rage swirling in my own. I genuinely have no idea why it makes me so angry, all I know is the sight of it makes me want to cuff her to the bed and not in a fun way. "Come on." I sigh and usher her across the hall to what I assume is the bathroom. She doesn't move, she just stands there letting the blood drip down her cheeks. "NOW LILLI, I WONT ASK AGAIN." My firm voice sparks her feet into motion and she plods into the bathroom I follow her in and lift her, setting her down on the bathroom counter. She observes as I wash my hands and then dampen a wash cloth and wipe away the blood staining her face and horns. I grab some antibiotic ointment from her cupboards and carefully apply it to the open wounds. I find some black medical tape and wrap them up. Which keeps them hidden like she wanted. "If I ever find you doing this again, I will personally remove every sharp object in your home." I don't meet her eyes and my voice leaves no room for questioning. "But...I have to keep them hidden. They grow insanely quick." I pinch the bridge of my nose in hopes of maintaining my sanity. "Yeah, probably because you're not supposed to be filing them down Lilli." I start the water in the tub and unwrap her body a bit more harshly than intended. I fight to keep my eyes from her exquisite pale breasts as I lift her and place her in the water. "I'm going to go make us breakfast, please, don't find another way to hurt yourself." I quickly leave the bathroom and cross the hall to her bedroom. I pick up the file off he floor, and collect the others hidden throughout her dresser. I leave her room when I'm satisfied I've collected them all. I walk out to my car and throw them in my trunk and then return to the house and start on breakfast. Seriously, what the f**k am I doing? Suddenly my phone buzzes in my pocket. I sigh and answer the call. "Yes?" "Boss, we got confirmation of the their search for you in Chicago. The police seem to believe you were killed in a deal gone wrong." I nod digesting his words. "Good, we want to keep it that way. Hand off my Chicago properties as dictated in my will. It will make my demise much more palpable to anyone who my questions it." "Understood Boss, now some of our enemies are searching for you, so I suggest you gather a rather believable facade. Make yourself appear as a simple family man or something like that. Don't make too much noise, if you catch my drift." I grin evilly once a plan forms in my head, one that will get me everything I want in one agreement. "I have a plan in place." "Understood, Do you still want to have your meeting with Vinny today?" Fuck, I completely forgot about Vinny. "No, something came up, tell him to set the meeting for next week." With that I hang up and slide the phone back in my pocket. I run my fingers through my hair turning the final pancake. "So, much for you disappearing while I slept." I turn to see Lilli walking down the stairs with wet hair, dressed in some skinny jeans and a crop top. I set the plate of fruit and pancakes down in front of her and her eyes rise to mine slightly questioning in nature. "Believe me Lilli, if I wanted you dead, you would be by now." She sits and hesitantly eats her food. "So, what if I don't want your protection?" I stand at the counter, directly opposite her and eat my breakfast as well. "That's not a option." Her eyes bore holes into my head as I attempt to swallow my amusement. "Fine, then what do I owe you?" I smirk knowing shes going to hate what comes next. "Well, I find that keeping a low profile while being someone like me is difficult without plausible deniability regarding my identity. So, I need to lessen my wave so to speak. The best way to do that, is by blending in, making it seem like I have a purpose, roots. Your p*****t for your protection will be your engagement to me, my...plausible deniability."
