Chapter 8: The Matchmaker Siblings

1110 Words
After they ate the foods that Katie ordered, which was a lot so they called the other employees and executives in the 7th floor to join them at the conference room and ate the food that could rival a feast since Katie literally ordered everything in the menu, Nate and Luke talked a bit more before Luke left for his flight. Luke will be using their family's private plane. And now that they're alone back in Nate's office, Katie had the time to grill Nate. She stared at him meaningfully. Nate raised his brow. "I know that look. The you-better-explain-something to me look. Why are you looking at me like that?" "Because there's something you didn't tell me?" Katie stated. Nate looked confused. "What?" "Luke?" she pointed out. "Ah..." "Yes, ah... so why?" Katie urged. "You like him?" Nate asked curiously. "I'm curious about him. You have a movie star gorgeous cousin that could end the other male models career if he decides to join the runway and you never mentioned anything about him to me." Katie pointed out. "This is the first time I meet or know about him. How come I didn't meet him when we were kids or during our teen years, and I was at your place to hang out all the time. I even attended your family parties and I never saw him. He's so mysterious." "He's more of aloof than mysterious. He's a few years older that us so he's in high school while we're in grade school, and he's in college while we're in high school. So he's away or busy and doing something else most of the time. His mother, my father's twin sister got married and pregnant when she was in college at 19, while I was born a few years later after my parents met after college and they're both working already. And when Luke was already managing some of the family business, we're still in college." Nate shrugged. "And I don't know, it seems everytime he's around the house, you're not there, and when you're there, he's not there. And it just didn't occurred to me to mention him since you didn't even know each other back then." "Yeah it seems fate is a tricky bitch." Katie said grudgingly. "Hey, if you like him, it's fine, I can even help you out, just be natural. He's allergic with the word 'matchmaking'. He'll be more closer and comfortable with you if you get to know each other naturally." Nate advised. Katie raised her brow. "So I have your stamp of approval now?" "Hey, if you like my cousin, go ahead, at least we'll be like a real family, and we'll feel at ease knowing we already knew you since you're a kid so we know you won't intentionally hurt my cousin's feelings and I know he won't hurt yours." Nate declared. "I know how much you adore our family and everyone adores you. Now you just need to meet grandmother." He grinned at her. "Oh boy." Katie suddenly felt nervous. Based on what she heard about the infamous Grandmother, she was a whimsical woman. ---- After all the meetings and brain stormings they went to that day, finally, it was all over. The clock struck 5pm already. Katie put down the drawing tablet she was busy with for the last few hours after the last meeting they went to. She looked at Nate who was still busy on his desk typing in front of his computer. He barely moved away from his table and computer the moment he sat there. If Katie didn't hand him water or coffee from time to time, he'd probably forget to even hydrate himself. Katie shook her head. Such a workaholic. "It's already 5pm." Katie reminded Nate. "Go ahead and leave first." Nate said without looking away from the monitor. Katie made a face. "Aren't you even planning to get out of that chair for a while?" "Nope. I'll be right here until I'm done with this." Nate told her. "Why don't you continue that on your private residence upstairs. I'll even cook." Katie rolled her eyes when she saw Nate looked at her like she said something he wished he never heard. "Fine, I'll just order something from the restaurant." She pouted. Nate shook his head. Now that his concentration got cut off, he turned off his computer and got up from the swivel chair and stretched his arms. "Woman, never mention to me again about you and cooking in the same sentence, I still love my life and I'm too young to die." Nate teased her. Katie stucked out her tongue at him. "Bully." "Brat." Nate shot back. "Don't worry about food, I'll cook for us. Now that you declared something shocking, I can barely concentrate anymore." Katie glared. "You better cook something very delicious." Nate looked at her as if she's gone crazy. "When did I ever cook something horrible? If I'm not a businessman and a fashion designer, I'd definitely be a michelin chef!" "Okay, Mr. Michelin Chef, let's go and cook that food. I want dessert too!" "Spoiled brat." "You love spoiling me." "Yeah, yeah... " Nate rubbed the top of her head as he walked past her. Katie grumbled as she fixed her hair that he rumpled. "Shall we call your siblings so we can all eat together? I know they also love your cooking." Katie suggested. "Yeah, call them for me." Nate said after he opened the door to his office for her. The two assistant was already preparing to leave. "Have a good night, Mr. Matsunaga, Ms. Park." The two assistants both said to them. "Have a good night." Katie answered back while Nate just nodded his head slightly to them. -- They were already at Nate's private residences on the tenth floor, Nate was preparing the ingredients of the foods he'll cook for them while Katie was on the kitchen island helping him cut some vegetables, when the door made a noise like someone opened it. Katie looked at the direction where the door was located even if it was hidden by a hallway from the kitchen. "Probably the twins." Nate told her. Just as he said that, Natsumi and Naoki appeared from the hallway. "Good evening, everyone!!!" Natsumi announced enthusiastically. "Natsumi reminds me of you, Katie belle. You're both loud and energetic ans exhausting." Nate commented as he accepted Natsumi's bear tight hug, and Naoki's cooler and manly pat on the shoulders between men kind of thing. "That's part of our charm." Katie defended. "Yeah! At least we're not so boring and dull." Natsumi seconded.
