Chapter 5: Get To Know You (1)

‘The audition went much smoother than I imagined it would. What a lucky day!’ Felix thought to himself as he walked outside the huge building he was in, once again he had a gentle smile on his face which hardly reflected the genuine joy he felt at that moment.
Then suddenly he stopped in his tracks and touched his wallet. ‘Yeah… I gave my money to the guy in the morning…’ He remembered, now that he had no way of getting on the train he thought about heading somewhere else instead. ‘I might as well go and visit the park? Or maybe look around town and see the stores?’ He wondered where to go as he stood in one place then suddenly heard someone call out to him.
“Hey.” The man called out to him.
“Yes, sir?” Felix instantly turned around and flashed a subtle but genuine smile at the man. Nothing he did ever seemed force despite the man not really having any good intentions in the first place. ‘What does this guy want?’ He wondered to himself, upon closer inspection however he noticed quite a few details about the other person. ‘Tall, nice suit, nice watch… he must be pretty well off… Definitely not an actor however… I would know of him…’ He assumed, since Felix spent every second of his free time watching movies to improve his own abilities, he was more than certain there wasn’t an actor within the country that he didn’t know about. ‘If he’s not an actor than he’s either a sponsor or another type of celebrity… Either way he is definitely very important…’ He quickly judged. ‘Meaning I have a reason to speak to him.’ All those thoughts went quickly through the young actor’s head for less than several seconds of time he had already made an assumption about the person in front of him’s career, status in society and much more.
Usually people never thought about things like that actively but to Felix it was a sure fire method to keep himself afloat. By being able to quickly gauge another person’s status or intention, he’d usually have the upper hand in whatever is to follow afterwards.
“I’m Griffin Hendrick the Director of Higher Entertainment.” The man said as he handed his business card to the other person.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Mr. Hendrick.” Felix instantly said as he continued to act humble around the person in front of him. ‘I was close but not close enough…’ He thought to himself. ‘The very director of the agency wants to talk to me, how interesting…’ He put the business card in his pocked and asked in the most polite possible tone. “Is there anything I can help you with?”
“Could you spare several minutes of your time now?” Griffin asked as he looked at the boy from top to bottom. ‘He doesn’t seem much different than the rest of the actors I’ve seen up until this point…’ The man thought to himself. ‘What exactly does Harriet find so intriguing about him anyway?’ He wondered. Then the woman’s words came back to mind: ‘Even though he isn’t a star at the moment, he will be! I’m willing to bet my career as a scriptwriter on this actor’s talent!’ Those words truly seemed to have influenced the man as he couldn’t help but approach the actor, not for any other reason but out of simple curiosity. He couldn’t fandom Harriet being so overjoyed over an ordinary person like the one standing before him at the moment.
“Of course, sir. Shall we?” Felix was naturally calm, he wasn’t the type of person to become nervous around someone important. He went along in the man’s car and they headed to a nearby restaurant…

“It’s a really beautiful place…” Felix remarked after seeing the high class restaurant they were in. ‘I noticed this when I was walking here but the area is filled with overly expensive places like this one…’ He thought to himself. It wasn’t that the man disliked places such as this one, it was simply that he was in no position to afford to eat there. ‘Is he going to pay? He did invite me after all…’ Felix wondered as they were seated. Up until this point Griffin hadn’t said as much as a word to the other person. It was as if he was collecting his thoughts.
‘He does seem to be more comfortable around me than most actors his age…’ Griffin thought to himself, nowadays it was surprising to find someone so calm as the actor in front of him. Usually small time actors would either act too submissive or overly arrogant around him. But Felix on the other hand, he acted different, it wasn’t too casual nor was it too formal. It was like he had put the appropriate distance between them from the very start.
“Sir… is there anything on my face? You seem to be staring at me a bit too much.” Felix said with a gentle voice as he smiled at him.
“It’s nothing, I’m a bit surprised to see such a young man interested in being a professional actor.” Griffin remarked, at that moment the waiter came to take their order.
“Mr. Hendrick it’s a pleasure to see you again.” The waiter said as he gave the menus to the two men. “May I suggest our specialty the Pork Rolette Hand Pies?”
“Yes, two please.” Griffin said as he took a glance at the menu. “Order whatever you’d like, it’s my treat.” He said to the man in front of him...
