Chapter 4: First Issue (1)

“Did you see the boy’s performance?! It was incredible!” Harriet said as she jumped in her steps as she was heading out of the audition room.
“He was but isn’t it wise to continue the auditions? You didn’t have to send all the other actors home, Harriet.” Gorge said as he followed the woman that had a skip in her step.
“I’m not planning on wasting precious time on other actors! We have plenty of other roles to fill, there is no time to lose!” Harriet said as she turned to the man, her tone was cheery but her words were serious.
“When you talk like that… you kind of scare me…” Gorge said as he sighed. The auditions had been completely stopped after number fifty two had came in the room. Usually something like this would never happen but the circumstances at the moment were special.
“Harriet… can you come with me for a moment?” A deep voice was heard from behind the woman. It was a tall man with dark hair and eyes that harshly contrasted his light skin. His attitude was icy and his words were sparse.
“Director! What an honor it is to see you! I’d love to go somewhere with you but I have other things to do right now~” Harriet tried to walk away but Gorge stopped her in her tracks.
“It’s the Director! Are you crazy?!” Gorge whispered to the woman trying to convince her to go with him.
“I know that, let go of me…” Harriet released her hand from the man’s grip and continued on her way. “See you Director! I have auditions to attend to!”
“Harriet… here, now.” The man said with the exact same voice he spoke with previously but somehow this time it seemed even more intimidating than before. It certainly sent shivers down Gorge’s spine, however the woman seemed to be rather carefree.
“I don’t want to~” Harriet whined as she followed after the man that turned her back to her. They both went into an empty room to speak in quiet…
‘Good luck Harriet…’ Gorge thought to himself as he watched the two people leave…

“You’ve given the second male lead away already?” The Director asked, his tone making it painfully obvious he didn’t approve the woman’s decision. “This isn’t why I have you the final say in the auditions… I trusted you had better judgment than this…”
“What exactly is the issue with the choice I made?” Harriet asked as she crossed her arms. “I don’t see any reason why Felix can’t play the second male lead.” She continued standing her ground, it was more than certain she wasn’t going to change her mind easily.
“He’s a no name actor. He hasn’t been in a single worthwhile movie and up until this point he’s only played extras. Do you see where I’m going here with?” The Director’s tone was even harsher than it was before.
“If it’s about experience, Felix can learn while we record.” Harriet said as she glared at the man in front of her.
“The actors sell the movie before it’s even completed… By giving the role to someone the public doesn’t know, we’re wasting precious advertising opportunities. Nobody would want to watch a movie with a no name starlet!” The Director’s tone was even harsher than before. He ran his fingertips through his black hair and sighed.
“No need to get so heated up Boss…” Harriet said as she moved closer to the man. “You haven’t met Felix yet, have you?” She asked, her tone sounding as if she was scheming something.
“I haven’t.” The Director said as he turned to look at the woman’s smiling face.
“You should meet him first, see how he performs and then tell me whether or not you want him in the movie.” Harriet said with complete confidence that the actor was going to be up to the Director’s standards.
“It doesn’t matter how good he is, he’s not the actor we’re looking for.” The Director stood his ground.
“But he is! Even though he isn’t a star at the moment, he will be!” Harriet said as she pulled out the script from her bag. “He’s made for this role… everything from the way he talks, to his mannerisms, to the way he looks at the camera, the chemistry he has with Giovanni… and the subtle expressions he makes… He’s the perfect actor for this role…”
“You really have confidence in this boy?” The Director sighed once more, understanding full well he won’t be able to make the woman budge on her decision.
“I’m willing to bet my career as a scriptwriter on this actor’s talent.” Harriet said as she shoved the script at the man’s chest, forcing him to hold onto it. “I never make mistakes when choosing actors…” She said in a low whisper. “I was the one that found Giovanni after all…”
“Giovanni was special…” The Director said to the overly confident woman.
“So is Felix…” Harriet chimed in, with a smile on her face she turned on her heels and headed out the room they were in.
Leaving the Director to stare down at the script that was left in his arms. He opened it to see the list of actors the woman had chosen. ‘Felix Monroe… are you really that good of an actor?’ He wondered to himself as he observed the huge checkmark and the word ‘accepted’ standing next to the actor’s name. He was yet to meet this person but something told him Felix might actually turn out to be a risk worth taking. After all Harriet’s confidence came from her experience as a scriptwriter and finding new talents for the big screen. If her better judgment told her Felix might be the next big actor than there was hope…
