Soul For Sale (1)
Soul For Sale Volume 1 Takano Masamune Chapter 1: Soul For Sale (1) *** ‘Nothing in this world ever comes easy, not your dreams nor aspirations…’ “You’ll never be somebody, do you hear me?! Worthless peace of garbage! I should have never given birth to you!” The woman shouted with her entire voice as she cried tears of frustration at the sight of her only child. “Stop with the drama kid, you better start a real job. Who’s going to hire an actor who can’t act?” The man said as he scoffed at the young boy. His tone sounding as if he was personally involved in the other’s life, which couldn’t be any further from the truth. ‘Nothing in this world comes for free either… If you want something you have to give something in return. So I’m going to give the one thing that can’t be replaced, the single thing I have of value…’ ‘And I’m going to prove them all wrong… Everything they said, all of it, I’ll make them regret those words…’ * * * 12:15 at the NR Station… “Hurry up! We’re going to be late and I’m not going to-Hmp!” The young twenty year old looking woman running and yelling at her friend bumped into someone on her way. “That hurt… Watch where you’re-… going…” She paused after she looked at the person she bumped into. “Did I hurt you Miss?” The man asked as he gave her a hand to pull her back up. His concerned expression indicated he truly was sorry. “Ah… no… it was all my fault…” The woman said, her cheeks blushed at the sight of the man in front of her. “Kathy! Are you alright?!” Her friend finally caught up to her and asked her if she was okay with a worried expression on her face. “Yeah I’m fine…” Kathy said as she still felt like she was in a daze after staring at the handsome man for so long. Her friend also seemed to be at a loss for words. “If it’s alright with you ladies, I’ll be leaving now.” The man said as he smiled kindly and began walking away without waiting for the dazed women’s responses. As he walked a distance away from the two he couldn’t stop cursing in his mind. ‘Oh, so I have to watch where I’m going?! Is that so, maybe if you weren’t such an i***t that ran in the station you wouldn’t be bumping into people! And I didn’t even get an apology!’ The man was becoming increasingly annoyed but on his face was reflected nothing but a carefree smile that made him look like a saint. He hopped on the train that was leading him to his audition for his first big movie role. But unlike other small time celebrities, he isn’t excited nor nervous for said audition. It was his thirty first attempt to get into the industry, so if anything he was determined to make it. He’d spent over a moth reciting the lines of the script to the point he had memories everything he had to say, exactly when he should say it and with what intonation. It was the opportunity of a lifetime and he wasn’t going to allow anything to ruin it. While in the train he continued reciting the words in his mind over and over again. Failure was not an option to him… “We’re arriving at XY station in five minutes, I repeat…” The lady on the speaker said with a tired voice. But the man didn’t pay attention to it, he was solely focused on how the audition was going to go. “Sir, may I sit down here? My old legs are really tired…” An elderly woman approached the man that was sitting down comfortably. “Of course, ma’am.” He gave a gentle smile and stood up, then helped the old lady sit down in his place. “What a good young man you are.” The lady remarked, she smiled at him revealing her wrinkled face. “How old are you, son?” She asked. “Twenty-five ma’am.” The man said as he continued keeping the face smile on his face. “I have a grandson your age, he actually goes to University with…” The old lady began telling her story but the man standing in front of her had no interest in anything she had to say. ‘Damn this woman… not only did I give up my seat to her but now she wants me to listen to her talking…’ Once again the man cursed in his mind but his face looked peaceful as if he was intently listening to the old woman’s story. “That’s really interesting.” He remarked. “Yes, my grandchild is very smart. He won a competition in Physics last year.” The old lady continued her story since the man seemed to be interested. Making even the five more minutes that were left until he could reach his station, feel like an eternity. Despite that the man never once said anything mean to the woman, nor gave her a bad look. He was completely preoccupied with recalling his lines and couldn’t be bothered to say anything. “He have arrived at XY station, I repeat we have arrived at XY station, may all passengers…” The woman on the speakers spoke again, notifying the train’s passengers of the station they were at. Taking that as his queue to leave, the man smiled and waved goodbye to the old woman. He headed out the train and walked in the underground station. ‘It smells awful here…’ He thought to himself, looking around he saw a beggar sitting on the ground. “Could you spare some change Miss?” The beggar asked, he looked up at the woman that simply avoided him and began walking faster to move away from him. “I haven’t eaten from three days… please…” He continued trying to persuade the woman that sped up even more to get away from him...
