I was walking through the woods rethinking all of the choices that I have made in these last few months. The full moon was shining brightly over the forest. I kept on walking till I found myself by a lake where I sat down looking at my resemblance in the water. Things changed and so did my circumstances. I looked pale in my white nightgown that was stained from the grass that I had run through not to mention the dirt. I was so tired from running and just wanted a hot beverage with a warm bed that could soothe this burning ache in my body. I heard a growl coming from behind me knowing that it could only be a wolf. I tried not to move hoping that it would see that I was no threat or meant any harm, yet once the sound was right next to my ear, I turned my attention towards it. It was the most beautiful wolf that I have ever seen. It was bigger than any other wolf that I have ever encountered. His fur was dark black with bloodshot red eyes that held so much dominance that you could feel it as a human. I was pretty sure as a wolf you could have smelled it from a mile away. Once his eyes found mine he took a step towards me leaning in with his nose to smell my scent. My heart was racing and I was sure this was how I was going to die once I heard his deep growl. I heard more wolves approaching us while they were howling until a thunderstorm broke out...
"What...crap!" I muttered while trying to hide my face from the sharp light that was peeking through the windows. I could not sleep anymore and for a few minutes, my mind was occupied by the dream that I had. A big black wolf that had beautiful fur with the most peaceful eyes.
Knock-Knock
My mind was taken from my thoughts straight to the locked door. I heard a woman's voice asking if I was awake and if so could please open the door for him? I looked down noticing that I must have fallen asleep last night crying my eyes out. I got up looking in the mirror before I answered her. I pulled my hair up in a ponytail while walking towards the door.
"Good morning mam, hope you slept well I just came here to inform you that breakfast is served!"
"Thank you, but do you maybe know where Nicholas is?"
"He's downstairs having breakfast as we speak."
"Thank you!" I said giving her a faint smile while I quickly got my shoes on practically running down the stairs in the direction of the dining room. Once I got there it was only Nicholas who was busy eating while he was looking through some documents. I cleared my throat making him aware that I was in the room, before entering the room completely. He looked up from his files smiling at me.
"Morning, please have some breakfast!"
"Where is your master? Isn't this his house?" I said as I took a seat across from him.
"I see that you're still pissed and need more time.."
"Wait-Where do you think you're going?" I grabbed him by his arm stopping him from exiting the room. He was quite surprised by my words almost like I spoke some other high language.
"Well, I'm going to get my mate then I'll be taking the both of you back home.."
"Great, let's get going the sooner the better!" I said with a happy tone looking forward to getting out of these clothes. One that I honestly longed for. This was one big mess and never in a million years did I ever think of meeting my brother again. Honestly I was ready to die without knowing what he was up to, yet maybe a part of me just wanted to see how he was doing.
"Railey is returning with me, Haylie! Just so that you know."
"Yeah, sure it's not like you can take more from me right now!"
"What is your problem? You should be happy that I have found my mate, but instead, you're being all bitchy about it!" he said while throwing his hands in the air. I took a step towards the door looking straight at him with a smile.
"Then, I suggest that you take me home so that I can go and be bitchy all by myself.." I said, but stopped immediately as my back had hit something hard.
"Going somewhere?"
"I, uhm, yes Nick is taking me home so thank you for all of your hospitality alpha?"
"Oh where is my manners, Alpha Rayden from the Crescent Blood Moon pack!" he said making it clear to me who he exactly was. I felt all of the blood draining from my body instantly when I heard those words.
"You're an..uhm..an."
"Original, that's right! Nicholas, will you please give me a minute with your sister."his deep tone sent shivers down my spine not just for his tone, no but for the stories that I have heard. The Crescent Blood Moon Pack was one of the strongest and bloodiest packs that hated witches and tortured their enemies mercilessly. I took a step back keeping my eye on the knife that was lying on the table next to me. I've heard chilling stories of how he will take over other packs and will tear alphas apart. His eyes were glued to my every movement. I reached for my wand that was keeping my hair in a high ponytail to which he noticed.
"Your magic is useless on me and you know that little witch!" he spitted out before walking past me and taking a seat. His servants brought him coffee and placed a full house breakfast in front of him.
"Have you had breakfast, prinses?"
"No, not hungry just want to go home and stop calling me princess!"
"You know who I am, yet you are scared and the thought of your magic not working must be killing you right now?" he asked while taking a sip of his coffee. Scared? Scared was a f*****g understatement for what I was feeling. I looked around and found that the room was clear again and it was just the two of us.
"Look, alpha I did not mean to cause any problems and would like to go home."
"Call me Rayden, princess!" he insisted before giving me a smirk. Was this guy serious right now?
"Alpha!" We both looked at each other while the man walked into the dining room. He had dark brown hair with a tall body, but if you would put him next to Rayden then he would look like a kindergartner.
"Speak up!" his tone had switched over to pissed in seconds which left me terrified.
"There are rogues on the east side, the guards are trying to get to them, but.."
"But what? Speak the f**k up!"
"They're attacking us on the North as well!" I looked at the man's face trying to see if he was serious and he was since alpha Rayden got up swiftly cursing with white fists hitting the table.
"You need to come with me, princess I'll have you dropped off by the West side where you will be taken to safety!"
"I'm going home right?" I asked but regret it the minute I saw his reaction to my words. I then just decided to follow him instead of asking any questions. We got into his car where he drove straight towards the West side of the pack.
"Findlay will get you home, I've already linked him! Do not go into the woods trying to take a shortcut! Do you understand?"
"Mmm.."
"Do you understand woman?" He yelled at me taking me from my thoughts. I simply nodded and got out of the car seeing Railey with tears in her eyes. Once she saw me she ran towards me giving me a bear hug, before breaking down in my arms.
"He's at the east side and rumor has it that there are multiple casualties, Haylie! What if he.."
"He's not, Railey trust me!"
"Haylie, your Nick's sister right?"
"Yes, why?" I asked the man approaching us.
"My name is Findlay, please both of you follow me, now!" he yelled at us as wolves started to come through the woods. I pushed Railey to start running. I was about to move when my eye caught a girl about 7 years old running into the woods from fear.
"Hey, wait! Findlay?" I asked only to see him gone and that is when a wolf followed her into the woods leaving me to not even think twice to run after her.
