Chapter 2

It "I'm not going with you!" "Please, do not make this harder than it already is. The Alpha has given an order which will be followed!" he said while taking a step towards me. I haven't seen my brother in years since he practically ran away from home. He wanted to be part of a pack whereas I just wanted to live a completely normal life far away from all of this. Our father showed no shame in pointing out his favorite child between the two of us, yet I used to be the one to look after him, kind of ironic. 'Can't you be more like your brother! A hero and not some child who's looking for the next man to sleep with!' those would be his famous words or the fact that I was a witch and not a werewolf. That fact haunted him to the core but soon turned into a twisted little story once he found out that I was never his daughter. He made home unbearable for years, so when I finished school I ran away knowing that he would never look for me since I was a bastard child. "Look, have dinner then I will take you home myself!" he said softly knowing that I was not going to stay and make up. "You believe that I am that stupid to trust those words, Nick?" I asked looking deep into his sorry eyes. "Right now, I think you should, 'cause if he gets pissed my rank will mean nothing to him, Haylie!" He said as he showed us the way to his pack. While we were walking Raily became lost in his presence almost like a ghost which made me mad. I could never understand how one can be linked to another for the rest of their lives. I mean one mate per lifetime sounds more like a curse than a bloody blessing. While they were holding hands and whispering sweet bullshit into each other's ears my eyes caught a huge house that looked modern, yet a bit stained with old fashion. I followed them up the porch where a nice young lady greeted us and then invited us in. We headed straight towards the dining room where my breath was taken away. The room was filled with food and a long ass table was in sight where it had already been set up. A few flowers were placed on the table while the servants added the last decoration which was champagne. How long have we been walking exactly? "Please, take a seat!" the Greek goddess spoke up from behind me leaving me to jump in my place. I took the seat that was opposite of my brother and his so-called mate while the alpha sat at the end glaring at me. I might have been a bit extra tonight, but I did not care at all. I just wanted this night over and done with. "So tell us more about you.." "Railey Jenkins, alpha." "A very beautiful name, do you understand how packs work?" "Yes, alpha my parents spoke nonstop about packs. I understand that Nick is your right hand which will make me your wife's right hand if I am correct?" "Indeed you are! I'm glad that Nick has found his mate it is a blessing.." "A f*****g curse if you ask me!" I said only to see all three of them looking at me. Railey had disbelief all over her face while the other two looked pissed. That was supposed to be inside of my bloody head! Dam Hailey, you always have to ruin things with your big ass mouth! Silence filled the room and I was no werewolf, but I could hear the servants loud and clear whispering about my words. "Why is that Hailey?" my eyes caught the Greek goddess's hazel eyes which were now filled with curiosity and a smirk. Wait, he remembered my name? "I'm sorry, I think I should just rather leave!"I said taking a stand, but with a quick look at the Alpha, I decided to sit back down. "Wise choice, now advise us on why you feel that having a mate is a curse?" "Being connected to one person for your entire life is fine, yet what comes after death? You fall apart and try to amend the broken pieces or simply get cheated on! I do not believe that it is a blessing alpha, but I do believe that it is a curse. One that can break your entire body and soul or in your instance your pack!" "So, Railey found her mate which is your brother might I add. Do you think that it is a curse?" "Unfortunately I do! In a few years, you both might feel different. Don't look at me like that! Did your parents tell you that you become a breeder for the pack once you have been marked?" "What? Uhm.." she only got to mumble those words, before her mate came to save her. "Stop it, Hailey!" "Oh, and you have to obey them. Once they have a mistress you have no place to speak up about that either!" "I said that it is enough!" my brother's fists connected with the table leaving Railey terrified, but not me. "Is it enough? How about empty promises and loyalty? The list goes on brother!" "You should be glad you came this far Haylie!" "Yeah, I don't like packs and I sure as hell don't like you! I hate and despise you, Nicholas!" I said throwing the napkin on the table before taking my leave. I walked straight towards the door but got stopped by a tingling sensation. It felt like I was breathless and as I was about to open the door a strong hand pushed it closed. Fear took over leaving a lump in my throat. "Thank you for all of your honesty! Anything else that you would like to get out of your system, princess?" his husky tone sent shivers down my spine while my eyes were glued to the door. "Packs hate witches, so why am I still alive?" "Well, not all packs. You see I rule the part where you live so that means your friend broke the rules. Since you know so much about packs I'm sure you will know what can happen to her!" he whispered into my ear leaving my heart to race. "She.." "Lydia, please have the spare room ready for Haylie in a few minutes!" "Of course Alpha!" "I am going home, now if you'll excuse me I need to get going!" I said trying to open the door, but stopped as soon as my hand reached the doorknob. "If you as so much take a step out of this house, I will tear Railey up myself!" he said with a dark tone. "Glad to see that it caught your attention! You are in my territory now prinses time to obey!" "I will never obey you! This little scheme of yours is not going to keep me here!" "You can tell that to your brother once his mate is lying in millions of pieces!" he dared to say. There was no response that I could give since his tone held so much authority. "Marvelous, I'll have Lydia show you the way to your new room!" "I'll burn this place down!" "Try it! You won't be the first woman to underestimate me, princess!" he said while pointing at the stairs. His tone was deadly and cold which made me terrified of what was to come. As soon as Lydia showed me my room I locked the bedroom door as soon as she left. I stood there for maybe a few minutes with closed eyes trying to stop my imagination from running away with five hundred scenarios. 'Keep calm Haylie, we can get through this! You're a strong-ass witch who can easily get her way out of this mess!' My eyes snapped open and I took the beauty of the room in. The walls were a dark brown color with matching furniture. The covers were dark red matching the curtains perfectly. This room was huge and it even had a personal bathroom. I saw a double door and that is when curiosity hit me. I opened the door to find an empty walk-in closet. This was an extra room literally! I need to get out of here and immediately! I was once a prisoner and I promised myself to not be one again! I walked out of the closet and caught a door by one of the windows. Great a balcony that could work. I moved the curtains to the side swiftly to open the door, but as fate has it, it was locked. I took out my phone about to dail Railey, but I did a reality check and knew that the chances of her picking up were slim. I fell to my knees thinking of what I could do to get out of this, but there was nothing. I could not harm the alpha at all which was bad, this meant that I was powerless against him.
