Eric Parker :
"Here's the supplements that you need to hand to Mrs. Parker." she said and handed me a package.
"Ok!" I said when my mind came back to myself, stopped thinking about those questions.
"Mrs. Parker probably knows how to take these vitamins. Please tell her to call me anytime she wants if she have any questions about these vitamins." she said.
"I'll pass your words down to her." she nodded and smiled.
Suddenly, an old grandma walked pass us.
"Mrs. Yang, where are you going?" Miss Pearson asked the grandma that just walked pass us.
"I'm going to watch sunset." the same grandma replied.
"Mrs. Yang, please wait I'll go with you." Miss Pearson said.
"No, nurse. You're so busy. You don't have to take care of me." Mrs. Yang said.
"Taking care of you is my job Mrs. Yang." she said sweetly to that grandma.
"Ok, you can only come with me if you're free." Mrs. Yang said.
"I'm not that busy, Mrs. Yang. Your family told me to take care of you. How can I let you go alone?"
"If you really want to come, stop calling me 'Mrs. Yang'. Call me 'grandma' instead." Mrs. Yang demanded.
"Ok, grandma." Ammaline walked to the reception counter and grabbed a blanket.
"Please excuse me, sir! I have to go now." she said to me.
I nodded.
"Please drive home safely." she said and walked toward grandma.
"Grandma, put this blanket around your body in case it's cold out there." she covered that grandma's body with the blanket that she got from the reception counter.
I watched her caressing action toward that old lady until she's gone into the elevator.
"Why am I still here?" I asked myself after I realized that I have been standing there for a few minutes. I walked to the parking lot and drove my car to my parents' mansion.
"Mom, here's your vitamin." I handed the package to my mom once I found her in the house.
"You're here? Put it down first." she gestured me to put it on the table while she was reading something on her iPad.
"Nice try, mom!" I said.
"What!?" she looked at me.
"You know what I mean, mom." I also looked at her and at that time both of us were looking at each other.
"Did you meet Ammaline?" she locked her iPad and put it aside.
"What do you think my answer will be?" I asked her back.
"Yes?" she raised her eyebrows.
I rolled my eyes and nodded slowly.
"Don't act like that in front of me." she hit me with her hand.
"Ok, mom!"
"She told me to tell you that if you have any questions about those vitamins you can call her anytime."
She nodded and said "Did she say anything to you?"
"Yes!" I replied coldly.
"What did she say?" mom asked curiously.
"You must be the driver that Mrs. Parker sent here to pick the supplements, right?" I made a poker face.
Mom laughed so hard about this.
"It's not that funny." I said coldly.
"You actually look like a driver." she chuckled and looked at me from head to toe.
"Mom, stop it."
"What did you say then?" she stopped laughing.
"I just told her that I'm here to pick the supplements and didn't tell her who I really am." I told my mom.
"I'll introduce you to her the next time you two meet." said mom.
"No need. I don't want to know her and I'm not planning to meet her again......" mom stared at me.
"You two are going to get married even though you don't plan to meet her, you'll see her everyday once you two get married." she chuckled trying to joke around.
"....."
The room went silent. Mom was reading something on her iPad.
"Are you going to have dinner with us?" dad asked me once you entered the room and sat next to mom.
"Yes."
Ammaline Pearson :
I walked Mrs. Yang to the rooftop so that we can watch the sunset.
"Sit here, Grandma! The sun will set soon." I told Mrs. Yang.
"Miss Pearson, you have time to accompany me here today?" Mrs. Yang asked me.
"I don't have that much time, but I can make some time to come here and enjoy the sunset." I said while I was trying to relax seeing the sun is about to go down.
"I already told you. You don't have to take care of me."
"I'm not here to take care of you, Grandma Yang. I'm here to do my job." I said to Mrs. Yang savagely.
"...." Mrs. Yang had nothing to say so she was silent.
Mrs. Yang has been staying in the hospital for almost 2 weeks now, her family was so busy and they don't have much time to visit her. I know that she doesn't say anything, but deep inside I feel her loneliness so I tried to spend as much time with her as possible.
Mrs. Yang told me about the people in her family. Everyday, she just spent her time alone at home and with a maid. She has 3 grandchildren, but they all are so busy and 2 of her grandchildren are studying abroad. For her only son, he was too busy working and trying to support his family so he didn't have much time to visit her.
"Grandma, your son will come back soon. Then, you can leave the hospital since you're getting better now." I told Mrs. Yang.
She nodded and said "I know. But staying here in the hospital is better."
"Grandma, I don't want to see you here." I told her and she laughed.
"There are many people here that I can talk to and I won't get bored if I stay here." she said.
"I know, but staying here cost lots of money and your son works so hard to earn money."
"Hmmm my son works so hard that sometimes he forgot about me." a sad face was placed on her face.
"Grandma, you can always come and talk to the people that you made friends with anytime." I suggested.
"I'm sure I'll come and visit." she said.
"Maybe sure that you're not coming here again as patient and don't forget to take care of your health."
"I'll listen to you, sweetie."
Then, we sat there and watched the sunset together until the sky turned dark and only the city light was seen from the 15th floor rooftop.
