Chapter 4.

"Alpha Jack, Sir, if I may ask if my mate will be allowed to leave with me to go back to my pack?" Nathan asked him humbly, as if he was asking my father for my hand in marriage if I had one. ZADE answered for his father. "Not without me, she will not", He said sternly, not giving any room for negotiation. "I'm sorry, son, but that is usually not a term or condition for a mate to leave", Beta Cameron answered. So I had to intervene. "No Zade is correct. I will not leave this pack without him, Gus or Brian. Those are my terms. If they cannot be met, then Nathan will have to join my pack here since he is not currently a Beta or a Gamma." I told them all. There was no way that I could leave those three here. We had been together our entire life, and they were not only my best friends but like my brothers. A strange look appeared on Beta Cameron's face once again as he stared at me. Almost like he was trying to figure me out or if I was hiding something. There was a moment of silence before Nathan finally spoke up "Well Dad, what is the answer?" "Son, you know I cannot speak for Alpha Lucas and accept the three men. Jenna I can accept as your mate, but the other three will have to wait to be accepted by the Alpha when he returns. However, I will allow them to return with us and wait at our pack as guests until he and Luna Penelope return", Beta Cameron explained. ZADE had linked Gus and Brian to come back to the hospital when they were finished. When they walked into the room Zade looked at them and smiled and said "Pack your bags boys, we are heading to the East Coast " Without saying a word, the two of them gave me a hug gently and turned to go pack. "Jenna honey, you will not have to attend the meetings today. I want you to rest at the condo for today, so you will be ready for your trip tomorrow" Alpha Jack said quietly, as if his heart was breaking even more. I felt horrible for him. He had just lost his mate, just to hear his son and adoptive daughter you could say were leaving as well. "Well, considering the circumstances, Alpha Jack, would you mind if we went ahead and returned back to our pack today. We can get the information from the meeting from our neighboring Alpha. I think, considering her condition, I would like to get our pack physician to take a look at her as soon as possible. Not doubting your physicians here, but I would feel better getting a second opinion on her health", Beta Cameron asked. "Hello, have you all forgotten to ask the one that all of this is centered around. Has anyone ever asked me if I accept Nathan as my mate", I said speaking up. I was tired of having everyone ask and answer questions for me when I was fully capable of speaking for myself. ZADE busted out laughing. Beta Cameron, Alpha Jack and my poor Nathan looked at me shocked. Nathan looked like I was about to rip his heart out as he asked "Are you going to accept me?" He sounded so pitiful. The Beta and Alpha stared at me waiting for an answer. I nodded my head yes and the smile that Nathan had on his face was priceless. "Well Ms. Jenna, since you are the one making your own decisions now, would you mind if we left to go back to our pack, so our physicians can give you a check-up? Considering everything that happened, Alpha Lucas and Luna Penelope will demand that you be checked for any other injuries, and I'm sure the Elder council will want a full report as well." Cameron explained. I looked at Zade and then to Nathan and shook my head. Yes. "Well, in that case I'm going to pack" Zade said. He looked at his father. "Don't worry pops I won't be gone forever. I need to make sure that Jenna is OK and will be well taken care of". Alpha Jack looked up at his son, knowing that there was no way to stop him. He knew that, wherever Jenna was, Zade and the other two were going to be right there beside her. "I will help you, son" Jack answered, as the two walked out of the room, leaving me there with my mate Nathan and Beta Cameron. "Do you have anything that needs to be packed Jenna" Cameron asked. "No sir. Everything that I have is in Zade's car already in bags" I explained. The Beta looked at me softly and then spoke to Nathan. "I'm going to call your mother and let her know the situation. When the doctor comes back, find out when we can leave", Beta Cameron instructed. But he didn't have to wait for an answer as the doctor poked his head in and said "She is ready to leave as soon as you are, sir" Then he looked at me and winked while linking me a message. "You will be fine Jenna. You will find the life that you were always meant to have". When I tried to link the doctor back he had turned his link off. The nurses came in immediately and began unhooking all the machines from me and removing my dressings and IV's. Each of them hugged me and wished me good luck as they left. One nurse, however, remained behind. It was Daphne. She was one of the oldest members of the pack. She cared for me every time I was admitted for injuries. She was also the doctor's mate. She handed me an envelope and instructed me not to open the envelope until it was time. "You will know when to open it. Trust your heart. It will lead you the right way", She said as she removed the necklace from around her neck and placed it onto mine. I had always loved the necklace. When I was younger, I would fall asleep in her arms holding onto the wolf head charm. "This is yours now, Jenna", Daphne said before she disappeared, as Elder Micah had. "What is up with everyone just popping up and then vanishing around here," Nathan asked, confused. I laughed and shrugged my shoulders. I had never really thought about that before. It was kind of like how Carrie in the kitchen would always quickly pop up and then be gone just as quickly. The more I thought about it, the more I realized how often that actually happened. "Well, are you ready to go to your new home Jenna," Nathan asked sweetly. "Yes. I'm more than ready to go home", I answered. Star was in the back of my mind pacing. I could tell she was excited, but there was something else. "What is wrong, Star, " I asked her, making sure that she was ready for the trip as well. "There is a change. A big change is coming. I can feel it. It's telling us to be ready, be prepared", Star answered. "Well, of course, it's going to be a change Star. We are leaving here. I have found my mate", I told her, trying to reassure her. "Maybe you are right" Star responded as she faded into the darkness of my mind. "Star?" I called for her, but I didn't get an answer. "Maybe she is just resting after the injury" I told myself as I left out of the hospital with my mate and his father. Her words still echoed through my mind though, no matter how much I tried to shake them off.
