Return of the Alpha's Daughter

Chapter 9.

My neck was still burning. I thought for a moment about the mark behind my ear. I had only told Zade about it but if that held the key to what was wrong with Star, I had to be honest with the one that was trying to help her. I carefully pulled my hair back and up into a ponytail. Thankfully, I had a hair tie. ""Actually, yes sir, I do. I have never shown but one other person though. It has been burning like someone burning me since I met Nathan though. ZADE said it has changed", I explained as I turned to him to see the mark behind my ear. As Dr. Henry looked at my mark, he quickly sat down as he just stared at it. "You say it has changed?" He asked, curiously. I nodded. "That is what Zade said. I really can't see it, so I can only go by what he says. But is it red or anything because it still burns " I asked, as I rubbed the area. "I would like for Zade to come in here if you do not mind. I would like to know specifically how it has changed".I asked Zade to come inside. But only him. " Dr. Henry, as I have said, no one else knows of this Mark and I would appreciate it if that continues to be the case. Something has told me my entire life that the mark should be hidden from plain sight. The only reason I have told you now is to make sure that Star is OK" Dr. Henry looked at me and answered "Jenna, honestly speaking and seeing the mark for myself, I will say that I cannot promise you that I will be able to keep it quiet. We will have to see what your DNA analysis shows. If something comes up that will impact this pack, I will have to report it to the Beta and the Alpha." Dr Henry explained honestly as Zade entered the room. He looked at me worried something was wrong. "Zade, can you tell Dr. Henry here, how my Mark has changed since before", I asked him. Zade nodded as I turned my head for him to see it better. "Whoa umm. Jenna you need to look in the mirror like now. There is no hiding that thing anymore", Zade blurted out. I shot up off of the bed to look into the mirror. I forgot that I was still attached to wires and lines as machines and poles began to fall, and I stood in front of the mirror looking at the mark that now took up the entire side of my neck and was trailing onto my shoulder. My head began to spin once again, and I caught myself as I began to fall backwards. Zade caught me as I stumbled and placed me back on the bed. The nurses along with Nathan, Gus and Brian came running into the room hearing the commotion of things falling and monitors going haywire. "She is OK everyone. She just got lightheaded from all the medicine because she stood up too quick. You can all go back out for just a bit longer" Dr. Henry ordered. I was beginning to really like that old man. ZADE refused to leave though and actually growled at Dr Henry when he suggested that he step out too. Dr. Henry looked at him funny. "Zade, have you always been this protective over Jenna or is it just now because you are in a new place" "Always. It doesn't matter where we are. She always comes first in my book and always will. I would kill anyone without hesitation over her. The only reason I didn't kill my mother was because of the Alpha's orders not to" Zade answered honestly. I wasn't aware that Alpha Jack had actually ordered him not to kill the Luna. "Hmmm. What about the other two? Is it the same with them as well" He asked the both of us. "We have grown up with each other since we were all babies. They are like my over-protective brothers" I answered, wondering what it was he was getting at. "And did they have to be ordered not to harm the Luna as well" He asked Zade. ZADE shook his head, yes. "Why does that matter", I asked point blank. Dr. Henry looked at me. "I'm not sure, Jenna, but I have the feeling that it will all come together when we figure this all out. But for tonight, I want you to get some rest. I'm going to take your blood, so we can start getting some answers. ZADE would, do you mind wheeling Jenna over to our x-ray department first" Dr. Henry asked as he pulled out a wheelchair for me to get into. Dr. Henry first grabbed what he needed to take my blood. "OK Jenna, Big stick. I'm sorry"as he placed the needle into my arm. As he filled the vials with my blood, I watched him intently as he studied the blood in the vial and even sniffed the vial as if he could smell something. "OK, I'm all done. ZADE you may take her now. Just follow the signs. I'm going to get started on these" he said as a nurse came in. "Do those need to go to the lab, Dr. Henry", The nurse asked as Zade began to push me out. "I will take it Shannon. I want to run these myself" I heard him telling the nurse as Nathan, Brian and Gus came running over to me. "Back up guys. She is not finished yet. I'm taking her to xray. Cool your heels a bit" Zade told them, sending them back to their seats. I looked back and saw Dr Henry just staring at the two of us as Zade pushed me down the hall.
