Aren:      The only thing I didn't think was funny was the fact that Shane's mom ripped through my new leather jacket and new Steelers hoodie. As Shane's pack doctor stitched up my arm Taylor texted me saying he had a problem on his hands involving Nathaniel and Marie. The gash in my arm is pretty deep. I have to give Shane's mom credit for that after I'm done speaking with Taylor.     "I know you asked me to be patient with her, but I think you just lost this case," he blurted out before I could say a word.     "What's going on Taylor?" I asked trying to hide the humor in voice.     "You can head out," Janis, one of the nurse whispered as I put my shirt back on. Lambie took my jacket and sweater.     "I'll buy you a new one," Shane said once I was outside the exam room.     "Okay, Taylor. What's going on?" I asked again.     "Nathaniel happens to be Marie's mate," I stopped dead in my tracks. "So she locked him up in my cellar until she done with her mission,"     "What?" I laughed. "She locked him up?"     "If I keep him in there Jeremiah is going to come looking for him. Aren, this isn't funny," he growled.      "I'll talk to her but I think she's on to something if she locked him up. I'll call you back,"     "Fine," he grunted before hanging up. Lambie kept her eyes on me trying to hide her smile. She thinks it's funny that I let the Luna bit me.     "What did Marie do?" she laughed looking over the bandages on my arm.     "She found her mate. It's Nathaniel Harriger. Leading Omega to the Rosa Azul,"     "You mean the pack that wants to start a war with this one? The guy who's your inside informant?"      "That's the one and she locked him up so she can finish what she's working on,"     "Her mate?" I nodded. "Wow, that's..."     "Marie found her mate and she locked him up because Alpha Jeremiah wants to kill him because he knows he was talking with Alpha Taylor!" Gary shouted as she rushed down the stairs. Lambie and I looked at one another.     "See, she's up to something," I said. "Call Marie and tell her that I want a full report. Detailed. I'll call Taylor and tell him to set the fighters. Someone find my phone that has Alpha Jerry's number on it,"     "I have alpha Jerry's number," Lambie beamed. I looked at her with a smirk. I hope she tells me.     "I like that. That's a sexy little questioning look," Shane smiled. I'm surprised he's been quiet. I mean I would be too after what I did last time he interrupted me.      "Why do you have his number?" I asked ignoring the comment. Gary smirked looking between the two of us. Lambie's lips puffed out as she bit the inside of her cheeks.      "Lambria is he your mate?" Gary asked playfully. We all know but ultimately I like to think that I give them room to be able to talk to me when they really had to. Lambie let out an exasperated breath before she started to laugh.     "Yes," she said excitedly and with lots of relief. "Why aren't you surprised?"      "We knew," Gary laughed. "You suck at hiding things. You don't whisper as low as you think,"      "Shut up," she growled stomping her left foot.     "Why didn't you tell us before?" I asked. I already knew the moment she looked at him when we were on his territory. The s****l tension between those two could be sliced with a butter knife. "We met Jerry over two months ago,"     "Aren, Gary has a mate and she's prego. Marie could care less who she snuggles with. I didn't want you to feel alone and left out cause you hadn't found your mate and you refused to date anyone," Shane's wrapped his arms around me possessively and pulled me closer to him.     "Don't ever do something like that for my sake. None of you are allowed to keep secrets of that magnitude. All of you know mine. I keep nothing from you. This isn't an alpha thing this is a family issue you guys are my sisters. So, don't ever do that again. Understood?"     "Yes," they both laughed pulling me into a hug.     "Look at us all mated and s**t. O.m.g, even Marie. Six months ago if someone would have told us we would be mated and preparing for war I would have laughed at that person and told them they were full of s**t," Gary laughed.     "I would have killed them," I added. They all laughed.     "Just on general principle. I would have helped," Lambie agreed.     "Get Jerry on the phone. I can't believe he let you go," I told Lambie.     "He didn't have a choice. I had my career and pack mates to look after. I also told him you were just as possessive as a father and tried to hurt any guy that came near us that isn't our mate. After that he totally let me go,     "He never marked you either,"     "I wasn't ready to be marked and we all know we go into heat once we're marked. Gary and Andy were hard to be around after that heat," we all laughed.     "Shut up," Gary shouted mimicking Lambie's stomp.     After talking to Jerry, he agreeing to come and help us. I didn't even have to ask all Lambie had to say was, 'Baby, I'm in trouble' and he was ready to send his entire armada to us. I don't need all of it. I just need some backup. Just in case mine doesn't get here on time.  Shane:      Aren handled battle arrangements like it was the easiest game in the world. She knows this land so well that she spread out my guards and had more than enough left over to have twenty-four-hour surveillance with rested warriors and back up just in case some got hurt. She thought of everything. Each of mine and my dad's suggestions she used, but perfected them in seconds. Her mind worked fast and I had to wonder how many wars she's started and ended over the five years she had been gone.     After my mom finally got over the whole "hurting me" thing, she admitted that she's one of Aren's biggest fans and showed her a giant tattoo on her back. My Glass Rocket blasted on my mothers back with their first album's logo. I spat the truth as soon as I saw it.     "Are you insane? Why would you do that?" My dad growled at me for using that tone.     "That's... Big... The artwork is... Great. Very detailed and accurate," Aren said. I could see it In her eyes she definitely thinks my mom is insane and was keeping it together very well. Gary had to step out of the room because she couldn't keep herself from laughing.     "I'm really sorry about my mom," Aren laughed freely. Her smile and laughter warm me up in a way I never could have imagined. For someone who had endured as much as she has, she smiles brightly. Like she has no care in the world.     "Your mom is boss. She reminds me a little of my dad and your dad reminds me of my mom. Weird right?" She said looking at me sideways. The little questioning side glance she uses is the cutest thing I've ever seen.     "Not really. Aaron has told me the same thing," I smiled.     "You look better. You should get some rest. I need you at full health for what's to come, Shane," she said taking my hand in hers.      I tightened my grip. She was born to lead. Even the way she spoke and put her words together perfectly. They were all traits of an alpha. She needs training. Not in fight and combat, I'm sure she has a lot more to teach about that but definitely in everything else. She needs to learn to control those sudden violent surges of power that we as alphas get.     I was going to pull her into me, but I didn't. It's hard for me to accept that this girl is as powerful as me if not more. I want to know where we stand. How do two alphas keep from ending one another? For now, we're okay. We share the same objective. We're getting to know one another but there will come a time when we won't be able to control the situation. Times when she'll want something different. When I will want something different. What's going to happen then?     She did something I would have never expected her to do. She looked down at our entwined hands with the most peaceful expression I've ever seen on someone's face. She gently caressed my fist with her thumb and brought our hands up to her lips and kissed my knuckles. She then pressed them to her cheeks.     My wolf purring with the adoration of this girl. To him, the gesture was so much more than a caress. It was a form of praise. Commitment and love all in one. With my hand still pressed to her face, she looked up at me and smiled that warm peaceful smile, filling the glow of her eyes.      Using my thumb, I traced the outline of her lips. She closed her eyes enjoying the electric feel of us touching. All I could think is how it would feel to have her lips pressed against mine for an actual kiss, not just a peck. Those soft pink lips are like an invitation. An invitation she doesn't seem to welcome to anyone.      "I like the way it feels. I've never let anyone this close. Not even my girls," with that statement I made up my mind. I pulled her into me. Her smaller form pressed perfectly against me as I held her in place.     I looked down at her and she looked up at me. I couldn't pick a better moment to kiss my mate. As soon as our lips met, that electric feel came from our joined hands. It shot through my body. My wolf howling out to hers. Begging me to mark her, to claim her. I pushed him back simply enjoying the supercharged feel of our first real kiss.
