Cora’s pov

“Baby…” I listen to Ivan whispering and I move in his arms.

I feel my body so sore and my head hurts me a little…

What is happening?

“Come on rose, wake up! They came…” he says again and I open my eyes slowly groaning.

I see him staring at me smiling warmly, I am still in his arms and I listen to some noises and voices but then everything comes clear in my mind and I jump up worried.

“What is it? The doctors? The others?” I ask quickly and stand up but he prevents me from moving more by placing his hands on my shoulders.

“They are fine baby! They just came!” he says and I sigh looking around me.

Leo is gone, he is not here and Rosana is running to us from the hospital’s entrance with…

Jose, Owen, Chloe and my dad!

“Dad! Where is Caleb and my aunt?” I ask panicked and I start walking to them with Ivan next to me.

He looks tired, it’s the first time I see him so… Broken!

And the others don’t look so well… Chloe is shaking, she was crying till now, her eyes are red and wet while Owen is pale and Jose…

I have never seen him so lost, his expression is blank and this is something against his confident and calm behavior.

Leo is not here also, my aunt and Caleb are nowhere and Rosa is frustrated…

What is happening?

“Why aren’t you telling me what happened?” I ask again getting panicked and reach my dad that pulls me in his arms and kisses my forehead.

He is shaking…

“Everyone is perfectly fine! They are bringing Caleb inside and your aunt with Leo is with him!” he explains immediately and I sigh but shake my head confused.

They are bringing him inside which means that…

“Why? Is he alright?”

“Yes baby! He is just too weak, we suppose that whoever it was made him an injection to numb him. He is still a bit confused, he told us about some men with masks but he took no smell.” He replies and I nod shocked.

“His car?” Ivan asks next and they all stiffen nervously.

“What is it?”

“Someone had put a bomb to it as well… If we hadn’t found him in time then he wouldn’t have been here with us. We realized it just in time and Caleb was panicked, he had just woken up and remembered some suspicious moves.” Jose replies and Ivan curses frustrated.

Shit!

“We got away just in time… One more minute there and…” he continues but stops as Rosana hugs him tightly and he kisses the top of her head.

“And Mischa?” I ask next realizing that he is not here either.

“He went to check on Natalie, he is fine! He was with us.” Owen replies and I sign in understanding.

Who on earth did all these?

He can’t be just one and certainly not a woman… I mean, this is weird!

First someone put a bomb in both cars but the bombs’ timing was not the same like someone knew about the fact that Caleb and Noah changed their cars and then…

Then we can’t be sure until Caleb gets better and we see Noah’s phone.

“Carefully!” my aunt orders from the end of the corridor and I snap my head to this direction.

Two men are carrying Caleb that seems to have no blood on him and on his right and left side is my aunt with Leo that is crying relieved yet emotional.

My eyes land on my aunt’s face and my heart tightens from pain. She is pale, her eyes are puffy, she is not the self collected woman I always knew and I can read the pain from her gaze that has lost its spark and liveliness.

FUCK!

“Aunt, Caleb!” I shout and run to them in hurry and I fall in my aunt’s embrace once I reach them.

The second I wrap my arms around my aunt she breaks and starts crying unable to hold back. I know she is just releasing her stress and patience right now and she is frustrated but I can’t stop myself from feeling bad. I know how much she had been suffering for my uncle’s death, she loved him like crazy and after him she never thought of finding someone else but now with Caleb…

She deserves a second chance no matter what happened between me and Noah and I am sure she saw her past becoming reality again with Caleb. She could have lost him and she almost lived the same nightmare she had lived so many years ago.

“Calm down now! He is safe and sound, okay?” I ask her softly and she nods with her face still buried in my neck.

“Cora…” Caleb whispers and I turn to him that is also crying with a thankful smile.

I give him a sympathetic full of relief smile and with my one hand I caress his cheek and he kissed it as Leo holds back a sob and Ivan goes and taps his back gently.

“Thank you for saving Noah and I am sorry for putting both of you in such danger! I… I didn’t understand when or how everything happened! The last thing I wanted was to lose my kids…” Caleb says gasping and my aunt pulls back and hugs him.

Watching them like this is…

Amazing yet heatbreaking!

I love these two very much, my aunt is the mother I know and Caleb is a real father for me! He was always next to me, he was trying to help me, he never betrayed me and he is so kind and generous.

The last thing these two need is more pain and this is why I am going to find who did all these!

“I know, I have nothing to forgive you about and you know I couldn’t leave him like that, I want him to be safe and happy!” I reply and hug them both.

Ivan and Leo are standing next to us while the others join our side with my dad caressing my back.

“How about Noah? Do you know anything else?” Chloe asks me worried and I sigh as Ivan clears his throat nervously.

“No… No one has come out yet! But I guess it’s good the fact that it is taking them so long! This proves that he is strong, he can make it!” he replies and Caleb looks at him grateful.

I knew he liked Ivan but I am sure that now he does even more and I understand it… Ivan is standing next to us and him even if this has to do with Noah.

“Come on now dad! We need the doctors to check on you and when you get better we will talk!” Leo states with concern and we all nod.

“Alena, I think you should go to rest for a while! I will be fine…” Caleb whispers to her with wary and I smile next to my father that wraps one arm around me observing them as well.

They are adorable I have to admit…

“I am not leaving, I will be here and I will come when the doctors are done!” she states with her usual determination not leaving him opportunity to protest and Leo with the men take him to the room next to Ivan’s where a doctor is already waiting for them at the door.

Thanks God it’s over! Well, this is over but I will feel better only if Noah gets out of danger!

“Owen, Chloe… Go and take some rest! Cora needs you!” my father says turning to them and they nod smiling weakly.

“We will be back later! If you need us everything let us know.” my brother says and they leave after they kiss me.

“And you Jose and Rosa. You need to calm down a little. Take a hot bath and spend some time together!” my aunt continues and looks straight at Jose that is still pale and quite dizzy.

“She is right baby, come with me.” Rosa murmurs and smiles at us as she takes him by the hand and they start walking away following Chloe and Owen.

“What happened to him? He is… So…” Ivan whispers once they have opened their distance from us and stops worried.

“It was a huge shock for him. Caleb is the father he knows, he loves him extremely much!” my father replies and my aunt stiffens.

“And listening to an explosion the moment you manage to get away and get in a safe distance isn’t very helpful… Especially when you imagine what could have happened if you were late for even one more minute…” she adds emotionless and walks to the seats close to us with my father following her.

Ivan comes next to me and I take his hand in mine without saying a thing with my eyes locked on my aunt and father. They look so older suddenly, so broken and scared and this is not in their nature! These two were always the most fearless persons I knew, so strong, brave, imposing and now…

I don’t know what is happening anymore, I have lost it!

“I can’t see them in this condition!” I tell Ivan through our link and he nods quickly in agreement with a painful expression.

“You tell me? I have never seen Alena like this and it hurts like hell, not that I don’t feel awful for Caleb and Sebastian but she is special to me…” he replies and tightens his hold around my hand as I leave my head fall on my right resting it on his arm.

“At least Caleb is safe now…” I murmur instinctually and he turns to me and looks at my body with wary.

I do the same thing mimicking him and I bite my lower lip as I realize that I am still covered with Noah’s blood and I have also besmear Ivan. I am in worse condition, okay but both of us need to take a bath and change clothes.

I think that the smell of the blood gets more and more intense and I won’t bear it for too long, I calmed down somehow because I slept for a while but if I keep on smelling it I will freak out again and very soon to be more specific!

“I think you have to take a bath baby… Look what I did to you…” I say out loud to him and my aunt snaps her head to us worried but some seconds later she understands what I mean and signs in agreement.

“But you are worse than I am, go to clean up yourself and I will do it in my room here!” he replies and we walk to the others in union.

“I am not leaving! I will ask from someone to bring me some clothes and I will do it after you.” I state and sit next to my aunt but my dad clears his throat and leans forward so he can look at me.

I bite my lower lip nervously under his strict gaze as I know that he will ask from me to go back to my room but I don’t want to. It doesn’t feel right to leave Noah before I make sure that he is alright.

“Dad, just don’t say it! I am going nowhere until they assure us that he is out of danger but you should go and rest! You have almost two nights to sleep and let’s not mention that before that you didn’t sleep that much from the moment I found that note…” I say first before he manages to talk and he sighs heavily running his hands through his hair.

“She has a small point Sebastian. You have been in tension these last days and today you pushed yourself up to your limits. Go to sleep for a while!” my aunt speaks up and taps his knee with a weak, soft smile.

“But I can’t leave you alone! Alena, you have gone through worse than me!” he protests quickly.

“But I don’t want to leave Caleb and I feel better already! Now that he here with us I am fine, really! If I need to rest I will take one of the rooms here.” she says and he gets ready to reply when the operating room’s door opens and one doctor comes out obviously exhausted.

All of us stand up in union next to Ivan and I take some steps to the doctor panicked. His expression is not helping me maintain my calmness and the more time he stays silent the worse I become.

What if he…

No!

Please tell me he is alright!

“Doctor? How is he?” Ivan asks noticing that I am too worried to talk and he wraps one arm around me supportively.

“He made it but his condition is still crucial! Cora… If you hadn’t brought him here so quickly then he wouldn’t have made it, I assure you!” he replies immediately and I sigh trembling overwhelmed.

Okay, this is positive even if he is still in danger…

“So we are just waiting?!” my father asks next and the doctor shakes his head in a confusing for us way.

“What is it? Is there anything else?” my aunt asks and I take one more step forward trying to read his expression.

“It would be good if someone could give some blood for him… His father is in no condition, his brother as well and his mate is pregnant so they can’t but… Any other relative?” he asks impatient and my heart stops instantly.

Cynthia makes her appearance in my mind after some hours of being silent and my mind goes blank when she starts howling excited.

We can save him or this is what I think so because I don’t know if my blood is going to help him now that there is no bond between us…

My dad, aunt and Ivan are frozen next to me with their eyes locked on me making my skin shudder and the doctor turns to me more than confused and I understand it. No one else except from his pack, my father’s and my fighters with Amanda knows about it and this is out of every imagination.

I mean, how could I, the soon to be Queen of Lycanthropes, have any relationship or bond with Noah that has a ‘mate’?

“Doctor…” I start breathless and pause to take a breath as I feel my nervousness and agony passing every limit there is with Cynthia making everything more intense.

“Um… Could I ask you something?” I ask timidly and he nods confused.

I exhale harshly and Ivan tightens his hold while rubbing my arm encouragingly and the doctor leans closer to me with a pure troubled expression. My aunt stiffens holding her breath and my dad rubs the back of his neck in frustration.

Alright Cora!

This is it! You are going to reveal your past somehow and it’s hard for you because you always wanted to keep it as a secret but you have no other choice…

“Doctor, if he has one true mate but they have rejected each other and there is no bond between them does this still count?” I ask trembling and he blinks his eyes shocked but after some seconds he nods.

I smile breathless ready to start screaming and Ivan laughs with my aunt and dad hugging each other and the doctor narrows his eyes still unaware of my question’s meaning.

“I don’t understand Cora… He has a mate, his Luna…” he mutters and I shake my head negatively.

“She is not his true mate doctor… They have no relation.”

“And then who is his true mate?” He asks turning pale from surprise and I gain every power I have left in order to admit it for once more and hopefully last time.

“Do it Cora! Save him!” Cynthia says worried feeling my hesitation and breaking the barriers that were keeping me back.

“I am! Or to say it better, I was!”

Hello dear friends!

I am back with the 23rd chapter with a much more calm ending!

I am sorry for not updating some days ago like I should guys (this book and the others as well) but updating a new chapter every day in a different book is quite tiring sometimes and I lose my inspiration. I will try to update every day or almost every day but please forgive me for the small delay. Tomorrow I will try to update His Rejected 'Queen', on Wednesday Mates And Enemies that reach too close to the end of the first book and on Thursday Cleo's Heart Decisions (the new book).

Well let's take it slowly now, right?

There is a new book!
