Anaya pulled me with her through the crowd of faces until we came to a stop and she practically shoved me into a parked bus.
Feeling annoyed like it were some stupid prank of hers and Lennies to wind me up.
“Anaya what the hell are you…” I started to say but then I stopped dead in my tracks and felt my mouth fall open. My eyes must be playing tricks on me?
There was no way.
Absolutely no way.
The girl on the bus staring directly at us was a mirror image of me.
This was not happening.
How could that be real?
Then I gasped and my hand flew to my mouth in utter disbelief as I spotted the necklace around her neck.
“See, now you have to believe me. I have to go to school now otherwise my parents will kill me and I have cheerleading practise.” Anaya nudged me and raised her eyebrows. “You should probably head home before anyone sees you missing.” She threw her bag over her shoulder and made her way onto the bus.
I could not take my eyes off the girl who was staring black at me like some child visiting the zoo for the first time.
I gulped and rushed after Anaya. She had already boarded the bus.
I needed to see that girl.
To speak to her and find out what she was.
Who she even was.
Why did she look like me?
“Now you believe me, right?” Anaya mouthed to me as the bus started up with a shake and then the doors closed leaving me standing on the edge of the pavement. I watched as it disappeared into the distance.
Now what was I going to do?
I knew that my parents would be angry with me for finding out whatever secret they were determined to keep from me but I was furious that I had never been told this. All this time I had a sister and she was my twin.
There was no way that this was a mistake. She looked just like me.
Having no choice but to return back to the pack. I thought about what I would say to my parents. I decided that it was probably best not to mention anything until I had the proof that I needed.
Then they would have no choice but to tell me everything that I needed to know.
“Good morning, Sadie.” One of the pack members waved cheerfully as she passed me by.
“Morning.” I smiled back and carried on walking. Clenching my fists into my pockets as it was hard to keep myself calm after what I had just seen.
I was a mess of emotions.
