My head was pounding. I could not believe what my parents had told me.
Well they weren’t my parents, not really.
Not by blood anyway.
I just laid in my bed staring at the ceiling wondering how on earth this had been kept from me all of my life.
“We will always love you no matter what.” Those were the words my father had repeated at least a hundred times on the drive back home.
My mother had lost her mind after that, the visit was cut short and I was glad. Glad that I did not have to stay there another minute longer.
My father had promised me that he was not going to leave me on my own. Not that I cared, I was going to school anyway so screw him and her.
They wouldn’t tell me anything more than oh yea you’re adopted.
Who the hell are my parents?
Why was I not good enough for them to keep.
My heart ached knowing I had a family out there that had given me up.
If only I knew who they were and why.
My father said that we would talk more after school but I didn’t feel like talking to him right now.
“Sassie.. please wait a moment..!” I heard my father coming out of the kitchen and I stopped at the door. I had been hoping to leave before he got up but it seems that he beat me to it.
“What is it?” I really did not want to talk to him at all. I had heard enough sorries to last me a lifetime.
“This is for you.” He handed me a small box and I took it. Shoving it in my coat pocket I figured that I would look at it later.
I opened the front door and slammed it behind me. It was already cold outside so I pulled my coat tighter over me and slung my bag over my shoulder. Spotting the bus pulling up a few houses up, I sprinted to catch it. If I got to school early then I could have a few moments to gather my thoughts without being disturbed by the freaks.
The bus was practically empty when I got on and paid for my ticket.
I fumbled in my bag for my headphone and pulled them on before blaring my music into my ears.
I remembered the parcel my father had given me. Taking it from my pocket I shook it curiously and opened it. Unable to contain my shock, I gasped at the beautiful necklace staring back at me.
There was no note, just that.
I did not know where it had come from but the second I touched it I felt a weird spark bolt through me.
Shaking that weird feeling off. I picked the necklace up and shoved it back into my pack.
“Sassie.”
I looked up to see Anaya banging on the window.
I froze when I saw the girl beside her.
Why did this girl look so much like me?
