Chapter 13

1470 Words
Alice POV Belmont and Valerie wheeled me into the cottage and I was in awe. It was a cozy cottage with a living room and open plan kitchen. Belmont opened the first door to the right in the hall and I gasped. The room was beautiful, the walls weren’t painted, it was raw stone giving it a rustic feel, the lush cream colored carpet covered the floor and the bed, oh the bed, it was a king size bed with pure white linen. The posts were high and light green drapes hung on all sides. It looked so medieval but luxurious. A huge bay window with the same colored curtains looked out over the forest and mountains. The bench had white cushions and light green and violet scatter cessions. I’m in heaven. I thought. Valerie then wheeled me and stopped in front of two doors. Belmont took a seat on the bed as Valerie opened the door to the right revealing a huge walk in closet. It was filled with clothes, shoes even accessories on the dressing table. A full length mirror was on the opposite side. Again I only gasped. She then moved to the door on the left and when she opened it I nearly choked. The bathroom was massive, like my whole apartment could fit in here massive. The counter tops were white marble, the bathtub was bigger than a Jacuzzi and the shower was one of those you get in the fancy hotels, with the jets on the sides and a huge rain forest shower head. Tears welled up in my eyes, happy tears as Valerie turned the wheelchair around so that I faced Belmont. Concern crossed his handsome face and he quickly knelt down in front of me taking both my hands in his. God I love those sparks “Amore, what’s wrong? Is it not to your liking?” he asked worriedly I wiped my tears and chuckled “Are you kidding? This is too much Belmont. I can’t stay here. I don’t want to be any trouble, this is really too much. You didn’t have to do this, really. I can’t accept this.” My voice just above a whisper “Amore, please don’t ever feel that way. Nothing is too much for you.” He pleaded and before I could argue Valerie spoke up “This is the least we could do Alice, please here we can care for you and you’re safe here.” She looked conflicted as if she wanted to say more but decided against it. Belmont spoke up again his voice caring and gentle as always “Amore, no harm will come to you here. My room is just on the opposite side of the hall. You’re safe.” When he said that I believed him, like in my dreams. I just nodded and smiled at them “Thank you, I don’t deserve this.” I said softly looking at the floor “Amore you deserve the moon and the stars, and if you wish it I will do all in my power to give it to you.” He said smiling I looked at him and then to Valerie, not a hint of a lie present. What did I do right? After the life I had this wonderful man and my first real best friend seem to care about me more than anyone has ever taken the time to do. How did I get so lucky? My thoughts were interrupted by Valerie “Well I’ll leave you to get settled, call if you need anything okay? I’ll see you tomorrow.” She hugged me and turned to Belmont “Look after her Belmont, I don’t want any complaints.” She sounded like a mother scowling a child, but he just nodded. Did I see a hint of fear in his eyes?. She curtsied and left. Okay, something is off here. He turned to me smiling crouching down again. “Would you like to take a bath amore? Or would you rather shower?” he asked “I think a bath will be nice, but don’t worry I can manage.” I said turning to the bathroom but he just got up and started to run the water. He took out a bottle from the bathroom cupboard and poured it in the tub. It smells like mint and chocolate. He then came back and held his arm for me to grab hold of. I gripped his arm and slowly lifted myself out of the wheelchair, my legs felt like giving way but he supported me with an arm around my waist gently guiding me to the bathroom. “Will you be able to undress or should I call for assistance?” he asked “No, no I’ll be fine thanks.” I said smiling. “Alright, I will be outside so please call if you need anything.” He kissed my hand and turned around closing the bedroom door behind him. I’m dreaming right? This is a dream. Men like him don’t exist. And if this is in fact not a dream, what’s the catch? There’s always a catch, nothing in life comes without a price.  I undressed and got in the tub, the water was perfect and the aroma of the bath salt relaxed me so I enjoyed it. No harm in enjoying this before everything goes to s**t in hand basket, because it’s me, this is how my life works. I finished my bath after the water got cold and dried off. I walked into the closet and looked at all the beautiful clothes. Some of these tops cost more than I earn in a month, he’s obviously loaded. Not that I care, money has never been something that impressed me. But this is nice though, having money helps. Better crying in a Lamborghini than on a bicycle. I got dressed, with a bit of trouble but I managed, and decided to go see what prince charming was up to. I opened the door and heard voices the one was unmistakably Belmont and the other male voice sounded familiar but I couldn’t place it. Wait did he just call Belmont highness? The doctor did as well and Valerie curtsied before she left. Is he royal? No can’t be, they’re mostly snobby with all the pomp and circumstance. He doesn’t act like a royal. I was so deep in thought I didn’t realize that I turned too soon and walked face first into the wall. “Ouch dammit!” I said grabbing my nose, but before I can react I felt the tingles on my arms and Belmont was there looking worried, but I could see he’s holding back his laughter “Are you alright amore?” he said the chuckle nearly escaping his throat but he kept his composure. “You can laugh, it was funny” I said starting to laugh at myself. He snorted and stepped back and his deep laughter filled the small space echoing off the walls. Sending delicious vibrations through me making my body shiver in delight. “I’m sorry amore, I didn’t mean to be insensitive but it was funny.” He said still chuckling. And before I knew it my brain put the sentence together and I uttered the words. Filter fail? Yes epically “I love your laugh.” cue a blush that would put even the reddest of red to shame. I swear it felt as if my face will catch fire and I immediately covered my face with my hands. Love really?! You had to say love? You know him less than a day i***t! He took my hands away from my face and spoke softly “Don’t hide from me amore, look at me please.” And I slowly lifted my blushing face to meet his eyes. “I love your laugh too. And I adore it when you blush. So never hide your beautiful face again.” He said with a voice that could melt ice. I just nodded like the fool I am. “Do you want to go for a walk? You can’t run yet but I think a walk will be nice. Would you like that?” he asked and I smiled brightly “I would love that yes.” And we were off. We walked on a path that led from the cottage into the woods he held my hand and to be honest I didn’t mind. It was perfect the sun was setting over the mountains casting the last rays over the treetops, the sky a mixture of orange and pink. We talked about silly things and it was nice. For the first time in a long time I was happy, he made me feel safe and for some unexplained reason loved. When we got home it was dark and I walked to the kitchen to start dinner only to find plates on the counter top. It smelled divine, so we took a seat at the table and had a quiet dinner. Later that night I went to bed with a smile on my face. My life is basically perfect, I’m just missing Cayden, if he’s here my life will be complete.
