Chapter 1
Unknown POV
“Are you ready Highness?”
“Mihai, how many times do I have to tell you to call me by my name?”
“At least another 1000 times sir.” Mihai stated chuckling.
“You are one of a kind my friend, but yes I’m ready.”
He sat down behind his desk and watched as Mihai went to the door and opened it. A woman entered, her brown hair was in a messy bun, her eyes hid behind stylish glasses. She walked up to his desk; he stood up and bowed his head respectfully as she gave a small curtsy.
“Your royal highness” she said in a soft tone.
“Good morning Mary, you look well. Thank you for your assistance today. Tell me how your grandmother is?” he asked
“She is well sir, shall I tell her you called?” she asked
“Please Mary, send my greetings to Genna.” He said smiling softly sitting back down she nodded smiling.
Mary took the chair opposite the desk and took out her laptop and switched it on, when she was ready she addressed him.
“Sir we can continue when you are ready.”
He sat back and folded his hands on his lap taking a deep breath he nodded at her and this is how the story of the Lycan King became known to the world.
He cleared his throat and started talking in his deep baritone voice looking at the family portrait that hung on the wall beside his desk.
“It is the year 3022 of his Majesty King Belmont Drago Reyes and this is how my history came to pass. I was born 452 years ago, in human years that would be in 1568, to loving parents King Leopold and Queen Alina, 3 years after my older brother Prince Barin Victor. I had a normal childhood, loved my family and was taught everything I needed to know regarding our family and kingdom. I should’ve been the king’s right hand when my brother took over from my father one day, his Beta if you will.” He lets out a sigh and gets up walking over to the window overlooking the training grounds. Seeing his reflection he recalls their childhood.
Belmont was a big man, he stood at 6'7" (2.04m) tall, had tan skin and midnight black hair that was neatly styled in a pompadour haircut with a low fade. He had striking silver grey eyes with a strong jaw and he was very muscular. (If Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum and The Rock had a baby). But he had one flaw; he had a scar running from his left brow straight down his cheek ending at his jaw. He didn’t mind the scar because it was a memory, a memory he was very fond of.
“When I was 5 years old my brother and I were training, we were training with swords, it was my first time handling the real swords, but I held my own. My father and his then Beta were observing us and giving instructions. My brother was a skilled fighter even from a young age; I wanted to be just like him better even. So we were sparring for an hour or so when we got a little carried away, both of us having competitive spirits. My father and Dimitri tried to intervene but we were stubborn children we didn’t listen, the next thing I knew I felt a burning pain across my face. When I looked up my brother had dropped his sword and had the most horrified expression on his face.” He can still see his brothers piercing green eyes wide with shock and remorse.
“My father grabbed me and ran to the healer, but since my wolf hasn’t awakened yet I healed like a human. Thus this is the only thing I have left of my brother, my scar.” He sighed and turned back to the desk seeing Mary sniffling and Mihai looking at his feet.
“Mary my dear, are you alright?” he asked her concern lacing his voice as he crouched down next to her.
Mary chuckled wiping her tears while nodding
“Oh yes your highness, it’s just I didn’t know. Everyone always assumed it was a scar from battle. And this is not what I expected sir. I’m deeply sorry for your loss sir.”
He placed his big hand lightly on her hand and spoke softly
“No need to pity me Mary, I wear this proudly, but thank you for your kindness and honesty. We can continue another time if you like?”
Mary quickly composed herself and shook her head
“No definitely not your highness, I’m ready to continue.” He smiled at her and nodded standing up and walking up to the fire place and continuing.
“A few years later I shifted for the first time and I met my wolf Duke, training continued for my brother and I and we became strong fighters. Our mother the queen wasn’t very fond of the idea but she knew it had to be done. She made sure we were gentleman in every right, she even taught us to cook she was indeed a woman ahead of her time. She believed men and woman are equal, well my father did as well. Never was there a day he they didn’t treat each other with the utmost respect and love.” He smiled at the fire before he turned around and his eyes glazed over receiving a mind link from his head of security Jonah
“Your Highness, the Alphas are here for the meeting.” Belmont linked him back
“Thank you Jonah, I will be in the conference hall.” He turned to Mary and Mihai
“I’m afraid we will have to continue another time Mary thank you for your time. Mihai the Alphas are here for the meeting let’s get to the conference hall.” Mary stood and curtsied and exited the office as Belmont and Mihai made their way to the conference hall.
Duke groaned in Belmont’s head
“Urgh I hate meetings, they’re so boring. I tell you what why don’t we go running and the Alphas can sit in the meeting.” Belmont chuckled internally and shook his head
“I wish I could Duke, but it’s part of the job description.” Duke growled
“You have a stupid job.” Belmont growled back
“Watch your mouth pup.” Duke moved to the back of his mind and mumbled
“Stupid human.” cutting the link.
“Highness we have to go to the main city, we found a corporate spy at headquarters.” Mihai said just as we sat down for the meeting.
“Fine, fine we leave in 2 hours.” he said, not looking forward to that at all.
