Chapter 2

George's PoV   I returned to my mansion, parked my car, got out, and entered the mansion. When I walked in, I was surprised to see Beatrice standing on the opposite side of the stairs, her back to me.   What exactly is she doing there? I approached Beatrice, and when I looked her in the eyes, it was close. I thought she was looking for me, how can I fetch her to her room?   "Beatrice, wake up!" I shook her, and she jolted awake.   "What happened?" Beatrice inquired.   "You were sleepwalking," I explained to Beatrice.   "I'm sorry if I bothered you; I know I am sleepwalking," Beatrice apologized before climbing to the top of the stairs.   "I'll wake you up again when you're sleepwalking again," I said, and Beatrice nodded.   "Thank you, master," Beatrice replied, and I followed her upstairs, where I saw her enter her room.   I entered my room as well and heard what Beatrice said.   "That's embarrassing! I need to stop this sleepwalking!" I laughed because Beatrice was blaming herself.   Sleepwalking is not a problem, but it can be not very pleasant if someone sees her walking asleep. Beatrice didn't ask why I was still awake at midnight when I looked at the clock.   She was only a maid, so Beatrice knew the limit of what she could ask; the following day, when Beatrice awoke, I heard her footsteps. I got up, changed my clothes, and went to the bathroom to take a shower.   "Good morning, my love," I said as I stroked off Caroling's portrait.   "Where are you? I want to see you again," I said softly.   I exited my room and went downstairs, where I saw that Beatrice had cooked breakfast and had just finished it.   "You have experience as a maid, right?" I inquired to Beatrice, and she sat in the chair.   "Yes, I know what to do as a maid, and when you ask me to buy something, I'll do it too," Beatrice said, but I didn't ask her to buy anything because I had stacked food in the fridge. It's a relief that she didn't notice the animal blood on the plastic.   "Eat already," I said, and as Beatrice began to eat, I looked at what she had prepared and that sandwich stuffed with eggs.   I ate it, and when I was done, Beatrice stood up.   "I forgot to make your coffee!" Beatrice told me.   "It's okay. I'm leaving early now," I said, and Beatrice came to a halt.   "What are you work again, master? I haven't asked yet if you don't mind", Beatrice asked me, and I answered back.   "I'm the owner of C.G Market Grocery. My staff sells vegetables, meat, kinds of seafood, can goods, dairy products, among other things, as well as a small pharmacy store and food stalls inside." I explained to Beatrice, but I lied to her because we sell human blood also.   "You have a grocery master! You did a good job, and you saved enough money to buy this big house," Beatrice said.   "My wife and I grew that grocery; it looked like a small store before," I explained to Beatrice.   "You're married, master, but why can't I see your wife here at home?" Beatrice asked me.   "My wife has been dead for a long time," I told Beatrice, surprising her.   "I'm sorry if I asked any further questions," Beatrice said.   "It's okay because you're a maid here. You need to know that," I told Beatrice as I picked up my coat, which was hanging near my front door.   "I'm leaving, now you take care of the mansion," I said to Beatrice, and she bowed.   "All right, be careful, master," Beatrice said, and I remembered Caroline telling me to be careful before.   I climbed into my car, started the engine, and drove to my market. When I arrived, the workers were taken aback.   "Good morning, boss!" exclaimed my staff.   "Are you going to come back now?" Edward inquired, and I replied to him.   "Yes, because I don't have anything to do in my house. Someone is watching over my house too," I replied to Edwardo.   "Did you bring Johnny back?" Edwardo asked me.   "No, he hired a woman to be my mansion's maid, and I had no choice but to accept because that woman is pitiful, and she is a mortal," I explained, and Edwardo was taken aback.   "Can you bear a mortal now?" Edwardo asked.   "She's not like the one I fought before; she's kind and has no bad intentions; Beatrice needs money for his mother," I explained to Edwardo.   "Perhaps she's Caroline! You know you're fated for each other!" Edwardo exclaimed to me.   "We are not fated when we meet, so that maid and Caroline cannot be the same," I said, and Edwardo laughed.   "You know we don't know. We're not in heaven to find out if Caroline has ever had a reincarnation," Edwardo said as we walked into the market.   I look at my employees who work, and it's okay now that this market just had a problem last night. But first, I wanted to refuse breakfast earlier because that's not how I eat.   "Did you eat when your maid was cooking?" Edwardo inquired.   "Yes, but I have refused the next time because I'm just looking to see if she's loyal to me," I told Edwardo. Beatrice desperately needed the money, so I was right to accept her in my household.   I ate Beatice's food that night and this morning to see if she would try to poison me because I am wealthy, but she did not, so I trust her now she has no intention to betray me.   "Boss, someone ordered us 500 packs of blood!" my employee exclaimed.   "Take care of it right away, and make sure that whatever you assign here don't do anything stupid so that no accidents happen like yesterday," I said, and the employee nodded.   "Someone just ordered that many blood packs," Edwardo explained.   "It's good that someone ordered that much so that we can earn a lot today," I said, not knowing how much because I'm not happy even though I have money.   "Will you stay at the marker now?" Edwardo inquired.   "Perhaps I'll stay longer because I'm not doing anything at home right now," I told Edwardo before heading to my office.   Things were in order as usual, and since I lost Caroline, I haven't moved anything in my office because my wife was the last person to fix it. I smiled when I saw our pictures.   "Boss, no one has moved something in your office since your wife died," Edwardo said as I sat in the swivel chair.   "It's a good thing no one came in here," I said to Edwardo, and here are the documents Caroline created herself.   I smiled when I saw the pocket watch she gave me because I remembered how she gave it to me.   Flashback   "It's your birthday today, so I'll give you something!" Caroline said, handing me what was in the small box.   "What it is? I know you don't know what I want," I suggested, and Caroline snorted.   "You didn't say anything, so I just guessed what I'd give you," Caroline explained, and when I opened the box, it revealed a pocket watch.   I picked it up and examined it closely; it was moving and silver. This pocket watch is lovely; when I looked at her, Caroline smiled back.   "Thank you for the pocket watch," I said as I hugged Caroline back.   "You like it?!" Caroline inquired to me, and I felt her hug back to me. It was so tight.   "Of course, because it's from someone I care about," I said to Caroline, and I heard her laugh.   "Your birthday is also coming up, and I will prepare what I will give you," I told Caroline. I know she loves sunflowers, so I plan to give her a sunflower, and that day I will propose to her.   "Really?! I'm so excited!" Caroline exclaimed to me as I hugged and kissed her.   End of Flashback   I took the pocket watch and placed it in my pocket, then examined the documents Caroline had previously handled. It is acceptable what she does; she's just cheerful when she's with me, and she loves me.   "Boss, those documents are done; we've made a new copy," Edwardo said.   "I know that, but I'm glad you didn't mess with our things here," I said to Edwardo as I noticed the teas in my drawer.   Caroline made me tea, and when I'm tired, she reminds me that even though I'm a vampire, I still need to be healthy. I'll miss Caroline so much, and if the god of heaven gives me the chance to talk to her, maybe I'll be happy.   I went and took Caroline's documents, as well as the expired teas. Edwardo was taken aback by what I did, and I also snapped a photo of Caroline and me.   "What are you planning to do, boss?" Edwardo inquired.   "Perhaps I'll go home. You take care of the market," I suggested to Edwardo, who nodded.   I quickly exited and got to my car, where I got in and began driving. I first go to the place where we always go, and when I get to Grove Falls, I pull over.   I got out of my car, took a photo of Caroline and myself, and sat down to look at the falls. Caroline, I'm sorry I can't forget you even now; you know how much I love you, and we would have had a child if you hadn't killed yourself.   "If only I could turn back time and day," I mumbled to myself as tears streamed down my cheeks.   I also learned that when a vampire falls in love and their partner dies, no one lives long, but I believe Caroline will have a reincarnation, so that I will wait for her no matter what. I will not give up and will not grow tired of waiting for her.   I suddenly heard Beatrice's voice, as if she had broken something, and I laughed; even though I was in the distance, I could listen to her voice, but why? We appear to be connected, but this is impossible because she is a mortal, and I am a vampire.   I got up and decided to go home, but when I arrived at my mansion, I saw Caroline carrying plastic and smelled her blood. She had a wound, and I had to restrain myself because I could feel my thirst in his blood.   I didn't get out of the car first because I knew I'd hurt Beatrice if I smelled her blood, but rather calm myself down. I took out my pocket watch and reflected on the happy memories Caroline and I shared.   "Whatever happens, just drink animal blood and don't hurt an innocent mortal,"   I cried again because I remembered what Caroline said, and my fangs became sharp.   **
