Today was the day. We would meet the princesses. I hope it all goes well. Yesterday I was so busy and with extra warriors patrolling our spot, I couldn’t let Skia out for very long. I would need to find time to run. She knew something was changing and was pacing and clawing to get out. They will be here around lunch. I was thinking, maybe, I could fit in a morning run, but when I checked the list, I was assigned to the room right away.
Everything was in place last night. I hope there wasn’t anything wrong. We met the Head of the Omegas. Amelia and Liza were also in attendance. I was looking around the room, but it all still looked like I had left it.
Soon, the Head Omega opened a tablet, and we were face to virtual face with the King. We all made a quick bow.
“Ladies,” the king boomed. “You have been assigned a special task. You are not only to assist the princess and make her stay feel like home, but you are also to tell me anything she may do that is out of the ordinary.”
“Darling, you make it sound so ominous,” the queen said, coming through the door to the room. “Ladies really, we just want to make sure she has a great time and if she says anything or shows any difficulty or desire to leave, let the King or I know. Do you think you can do that?”
Amelia and Liza quickly responded with a yes. I just nodded in agreement. I had never been asked to spy on a guest before. Something didn’t sit well with me. When had the Queen arrived? As if she read my mind.
“I arrived yesterday evening with Princess Cora and her mate Eric. They will be at the greeting later this evening. I wanted to give you the items they sent ahead.” The Queen took in the room walking around and looked through the closet. “The rest of her clothes are being brought up soon, but it looks like you three have done an amazing job from the photo I sent.”
“Thank you,” we responded.
“I really must make sure everything is ready.” The Queen said as she left the Head Omega following behind.
We all looked at each other.
“Maybe I need to go to the Violet Moon pack.” Amelia smiled. “Everyone is coming back with a mate.”
“You are not even 18,” I responded and she shrugged her shoulders.
“Just because you are not interested in a mate,” Liza began.
“Why would you say that?” I wondered out loud.
“You never show interest in Cole. You are only interested in warriors, but your interest stops at training,” Amelia said.
I guess they were right. It wasn’t like I didn’t want a mate, I just always wanted to be a warrior.
“Damn straight. We will be the best warriors.” Skia chimed in.
“I guess I don’t focus on it. I just think I will find my mate when the goddess wants me to, and I don’t want anyone else.” I said.
“Oh, that is kind of romantic,” Amelia sighed.
“I guess,” Liza said, shrugging.
We were saved by the two cases of clothing being delivered. Amelia and Liza made short work of it. We had done a good job of picking sizes as most of the clothes would fit. I was concerned as most of the clothes they unpacked were tank tops, jeans, and leggings. This was not the wardrobe that a princess would normally have.
We were done before lunch, and they would not arrive till 5 p.m., just in time for introductions and changing for dinner which was being prepared to be quite the dinner. I took this time to go to my spot in the woods and let Skia free to run. Most of the warriors would be at the entrance.
The crowds had formed in the town leading up to the palace. We took a long run and went back to my room to shower and prepare our uniforms for the meeting. I lined up at the door, seeing Cash all dressed up and holding flowers. He pulled on his collar and looked around. Our eyes met and I held up my pinky.
He smiled and looked at the vehicles approaching. The first out was the King, followed by Cole. As Cole stepped out you could hear the she-wolves inhale. He reached back and out stepped the smallest she-wolf I had ever seen. Like her picture, white/silver hair with icy blue eyes. She looked concerned until the man next to Cora came down to embrace her.
With that, the staff had to wait outside the room. We had to wait out of sight but in hearing range. We could hear her talking to someone on the phone.
“The Omegas are spies. Eric told me,” the princess said.
Before she could continue, I knocked on the door. “That will be them.” She spoke.
“Love you too.” she hung up and opened the door.
“Princess.” We said and we all went in to line up.
“Hello, I am Fillian. What are your names?” she asked.
I was stunned by her informality. We looked at each other. No one willing to go first.
This had to be a test. I stepped forward. “I am your morning, Omega. She is the afternoon and evening, and the last is the night.”
“I meant what are your names. I need to call you something.” She responded, seeming frustrated.
“You may call us Omega. We will come to that.” I said, not sure what else I could do. If the King or Queen knew we gave her our names, we might get punished.
“I know it is tradition, but I was an Omega, and I had a name. It was Fillian, which is what I want to be called. I also would like to call you by your names. You won’t get in trouble,” she promised.
“Do it.” Skia said. “She is special. I can talk with her wolf.”
“I am Millie, she is Amelia, and the night one you won’t need much, but she is Liza.” I said.
“Millie, thank you. Amelia and Liza, I look forward to meeting you during your time, but I assume you have somewhere better to be, so you are excused.” They looked at each other before smiling and heading for the door.
“Now, Millie, I would like us to get to know each other. I am new to this Princess thing and need all the help I can get.” She said, patting the seat next to her.
“Oh, I can help you. I am young but I know a lot about the Palace and life here. My family has worked as Omegas for four generations.” I was proud of this.
“Can you help me pick out what I should wear for dinner? Then let’s go find Katie. I will introduce you.” I went to the closet and pulled out a few items. We picked out the one I liked and went to find Katie.
“Millie, I think you are my new friend,” she said.
“I would be honored, Princess.” I replied. She gave me a look and I corrected, “Fillian.”
On our walk we talked about the palace a bit. Katie’s room was all the way across the palace, so we had time to talk. She told me about her just finding out she was a princess and that she had a mate in the Violet Moon but was here to learn.
I mentioned that our wolves could talk and looked curiously at her.
“It must be one of the many mysteries I still have to find out.” She said with a smile as we approached Katie’s room.
We knocked and Samantha opened the door.
A little girl with bright red hair bounded out and embraced the princess “Mom,” she said. “There is so much stuff. More stuff than we had packed. My Omega said they bought items they thought I would like.”
“Katie, what is your Omega’s name?” Fillian asked. She was really into this name thing.
“I don’t know she said to call her Omega.” She said.
“You know that is not how I raised you,” Fillian said, as the girl gave her the same stubborn look I had seen from her mother. “By tomorrow please know their names. This is Millie. We thought we would come get you and we could show you my room and get ready together.”
“Yes princess,” Samantha responded.
Fillian smiled and reached out for her hand. “I am Fillian. What is your name?”
Shocked, I thought Samantha was going to faint. I gave her an encouraging nod and she responded, “Samantha.”
“Samantha is a beautiful name. Will you help us pick out an outfit befitting tonight’s dinner and meet us in the room? I know your shift is ending and you can let the next helper know where we will be.” Fillian said, grabbing hold of Katie’s hand.
We all left to go back to Fillan’s room. Amelia was waiting to dismiss me. I started down to the dining room to see if they would need any help.
“Her wolf will need your help,” Skia said. “She is my sister, and we should stay close to her.”
“What do you mean, sister?” I asked.
“Just like your human side, we have relations in wolf form,” Skia explained. “We are both direct line of Selene.”
That explained why Skia was so large. “Why would I get you for my wolf?”
“You are destined for greatness,” Skia replied. “We will create strong Alphas.”
“What?” I said, but Skia wasn’t replying. I wondered if the Princess, Fillian, knew about this? It was a conversation we needed to have.
