Fillian or The Palace

1292 Words
Over the next few days, I learned more about Fillian and Kaite. Most of Fillian’s time was taken by Cole and, to my great surprise, the guard had been right, and Cash was enamored with Katie. I guess there was no need for our pinky swear after all. Fillian and I discussed what our wolves had told us about Selene. It felt like she was a close sister or mother figure. We continued to grow closer with each day. I told her about my dream to be a warrior and she promised to speak with Cole. A week had flown by fast helping with Fillian. It felt more like hanging out with an older sister than serving a princess. It was almost dinner time, I was headed to Fillian’s room to get her ready, when I heard a loud commotion. I could hear male wolves coming from outside into the palace. Someone must have started their heat. This was rare as most wolves mate right away. Just as I thought of Fillian, she pushed a link into my mind. “Millie,” Fillian said. “I’m in heat. Help!” “I will link the king’s guard to help slow the unmated males.” I said as I linked the guard as Fillian closed the link. I went to the back entrance to defend against any warriors that were coming through the back. Fillian would need to escape through the gardens on the side. As I approached the back door, three warriors had shifted. I hesitated but it was not going to help anyone to keep my secret now. I shifted into Skia. “We will be OK.” Skia said. “These are small warriors.” Skia threw the first wolf, a medium-sized brown warrior, out the door. The second, too concerned about finding the scent, was escaping to her right. Skia bounded off the door frame and pinned the grey wolf while knocking the red and brown one to the ground. The scent got stronger before it started to dimmish and mated warriors began to arrive. The female and mated warriors contained the others until the scent was gone. With that a bit of sadness, as it also meant Fillian was gone. I hope she was OK and found a safe place to hide out until her heat subsided. “Who are you?” Michael, one of the lead warriors asked. “Shift.” He demanded. I linked him. “I am Millie and would need clothes if I shift. I didn’t plan on shifting in the palace today.” “Millie?” He linked back. “You are the princess’s Omega.” Skia nodded her head. “You’re huge!” Michael linked. “Go get changed and come back here.” I quickly went to my room, shifted back and threw clothes on. “Skia, do you think we will be in trouble?” “I don’t know?” Skia replied. “Michael seemed amused with us, so maybe it wouldn’t be bad.” I jogged back to the back door where the others had shifted back, and Michael was waiting. “How long have you had a wolf?” Michael questioned. I hesitated. “The truth please. It will help me with deciding what to do with you,” he said. “I shifted last month when I turned 15,” I said. He looked me up and down. I shifted from foot to foot. “I am guessing you know you are different as you hid having a wolf.” I nodded, stopping to look at my feet. Even Omega’s held a small celebration when they obtained their wolf. It would also have been required to go on pack runs. Which I did not attend last week. “You should have told us. Your wolf…” “Skia,” I interrupted. “Skia,” He replied. “She is impressive. I think the moon goddess has something other than being an Omega planned for you. We will have to take this slow as the king is not fond of people shifting ranks. For now, meet me during your normal time with the Princess. Let’s see what your wolf can do.” “Won’t I be missed?” I asked. I felt as if I could jump out of my skin. “I will handle the head, Omega. You just show up to the training court,” he said. “This will be fun!” Skia said. “Maybe, I hope we won’t get in trouble for this,” I responded. For two days, Skia was able to shift and run the training obstacles. She was amazing, flying through each obstacle with ease. Skia had come to life by being able to be in control for so much of the day. Our duties had been shifted to evening dinner so we could be at the training field all day. It was day three and Michael had brought another wolf to work on sparring and see how well Skia could do. The grey wolf was smaller than Skia but he had been a warrior for 6 years, so he knew more. Skia was taken down a few times, but she was learning her opponent’s moves. He lunged with his front right paw to swipe at her and Skia moved under him and through him. Michael let out a laugh as the grey wolf flew to the ground. “I can see you learn quickly,” Michael said before his eyes went white. This meant he was being linked by someone. As soon as he was done, the King linked me to come to his office. Michael looked at me with a bit of sadness. This was going to be it. The warriors I had defeated told the king and I would be in trouble for fighting the warriors. Or maybe he was told of my abnormally large wolf. If that was the case, maybe I could continue training with Michael. Hope there is always hope and I could grasp that. I slowly walked up the stairs to the palace office. I was surprised to see Fillian and the man from the picture standing there. “Millie,” Fillian said, wrapping me in a hug. “I am so glad to see you are safe princess.” I said a bit stiffly. She held me at arm’s length and smiled. I hoped she wouldn’t be mad, but I couldn’t use her name in front of the King. I was in enough trouble the way it was. “Millie, this is Alpha Vincent of Violet Moon Pack.” She motioned to the man. “He is my mate. We were wondering if you would like to accompany us back to our pack? I would like to offer you the opportunity you desired when we talked.” That earned an inquisitive look from the king, but the interest quickly faded. I was an Omega of not much consequence to the king. “If my King allows it,” I said, showing the outmost respect. “My dear, it is your decision,” He replied, waiving his hand. “Do it. Like Michael said, who knows if the king will ever allow you to truly train as a warrior?” Skia said. “Thank you for this opportunity. I will make you proud.” I said, speaking to both the Alpha and Luna. “We leave tomorrow.” Alpha Vincent said. My eyes widened. Tomorrow, that was fast, but when I thought about it, I really had very little and no one to say goodbye to. Maybe Cash, if he would even notice. I was leaving the Palace and going to Violet Moon.
