I did get the chance to say farewell to Cash and Michael. His link was to let him know the princesses would be leaving. Michael was happy I would have the opportunity to better my position. Assistant is better than Omega.
I also told him I believed that over time, Alpha Vincent would be persuaded by his Luna to let me train as a warrior.
“He would be crazy not to,” Michael said. “Your wolf has natural skill and learns fast. I bet you would be just as skilled. Best wishes to you.”
After that, we left. I rode in the car next to Princess Katie. Fillian had told me that I would be her assistant in the evenings only. During the day I was expected to attend school and train just like all the other children of the Violet Moon Pack.
I was so nervous. Fillian said I would stay on the Alpha floor in a room of my own. I have never had a room of my own. Would the pack accept me? Would I be a good assistant? So many questions.
“Millie. Are you nervous?” Fillian asked.
“I am Princess, Luna…” I stumbled.
“Fillian. Remember I don’t hold much for titles.” She reached over and put my hand on my leg which had been bouncing up and down. “You will be amazing and if you need anything just ask.”
Vincent said something to Fillian, who responded by making him laugh. Both Katie and I replied with “What?” and broke out in laughter. The mood turned cheerful and that was right before we entered pack territory.
The pack members had lined the street and were waving. One held a sign that read "we love our Luna Princess". I smiled as the pack house moved into view. It was good to see how much they loved their Alpha.
In the distance, I saw a large mansion. It was almost as large as a palace. It was done in lightly colored bricks, so it looked welcoming. I could feel my nerves melting away with excitement. Fillian was smiling at me. I could sense she was plotting something. She reached over and touched my knee, smiled and returned her attention to our arrival.
The vehicle came to a stop right outside the front stairs of the pack house. I was just getting out when two girls came running down and threw themselves at Fillian. They both hugged the Princess and began talking at once.
One went over to Katie and started up a conversation as the other one continued the barrage of questions. This girl was about my age and, from her looks, was sister to the Alpha. She was also larger in stature and had dark hair with gorgeous skin coloring. I overheard heard Fillian call her Val.
As two older couples walked up to us, Fillian stopped Val’s questioning and said. “We can have a small dinner tonight with all of us to answer any of your questions. I would like to show Millie to her room and get changed myself.”
Everyone nodded. I started to walk to the back of the vehicle to get everyone’s luggage.
“Millie, come with me,” Fillian said. “Jessica will see that the luggage gets to where it belongs.”
Fillian smiled at a middle-aged woman who came over. She must have been an Omega. It is strange to be in a space where people know the Omega’s names. Even stranger that they are called by them. Fillian took my hand and placed it in her arm so she could lead me in.
I looked back and Katie was racing around with the other girl.
“That is Reagan. She will be taking over Eric’s role soon. She is a great warrior. You two will get to know each other later.” Fillian said with a smile. “I am sorry I did not introduce you to everyone, but I didn’t want to overwhelm you. I know I was overwhelmed when I first got here.”
I smiled up at her. “Thank you for that.” We continued to walk and talk. We took the elevator to the Alpha floor. “Are we stopping by your room first?” I questioned.
“No, we have an extra room on this floor, and it is yours.” She said, “I will have Valerie give you a tour of the whole thing later. She is also 15. You will be attending the same school next week. Valerie is Vincent’s sister and the girl who was talking with me.”
I just looked at her in shock. I would get my own room on the Alpha floor and attend a private school with the upper pack members. I thought I couldn’t be overwhelmed more until I stepped into what would be my room.
It was amazing. It was large with a king-sized bed, a desk, and a private bathroom. It was set in a more modern feel. The other parts of the room that fit me just right. I walked around thinking it was a dream. This can’t be mine. I turned and looked at Fillian.
“If you don’t like any of the styles, they can be changed,” Fillian said.
I walked over to her and hugged her. “It is perfect. I love it, but are you sure you don’t want to keep this room for guests?” I questioned.
Fillian held me at arm’s length and said, “No, we have plenty of other rooms and, as my assistant, I want you close. I also want us to get to know each other better.”
I gave her another hug. My life was definitely going to change and for the better.
Vincent, who had accompanied us upstairs and who had remained silent until now, said, “Dinner is at 6 please change and meet us there. Tomorrow, Mrs. Brown will take you to enroll you at school.” Vincent said before we shut the door and let her have her space to adjust.
“Now we need to go get ready for dinner. Katie will come get you and walk you down. There are a few new clothing pieces in your closet and this weekend, Valerie, and you can go shopping. The girl loves to shop.”
“Thank you.” I said as Fillian left the room.
At 5:30, Katie and Reagan came to get me for dinner. Katie was excited to be home amongst friends. She was practically jumping from one topic to another discussing her trip. When we got to the dining room, everyone took their seats. Mine was open next to the girl from earlier. She looked up as I sat.
“Hi,” she said. “I am Valerie. Sister to that disaster over there.”
She pointed at the Alpha, who rolled his eyes. “You might want to consider being nicer. This weekend you will accompany Millie to the store to pick out clothes for school next week along with Luna ceremony dresses.”
Valerie’s eyes grew wide. “With your card?”
“Who else’s?” he replied.
She pumped her arm and breathed “YES!”
“Yes, about that,” Fillian chimed in. “I will need you to pick out my dress as well. I have so much to do here.”
“I would be happy to,” I responded.
“We will do it together.” Valerie smiled at me.
Over the rest of dinner, I learned about the school we were to attend. At Violet Moon, all the children went to a local private school with two other packs. Each grade level had about 100 students, so it was large for a pack school. I discussed how I had done online classes for the last few years.
“Don’t worry, you can hang out with my group until you make friends of your own,” Valerie said. “Megan and Talia will love you.”
“Thank you,” I responded and turned to finish dinner. Tomorrow I will register for school classes, and next Friday will be Fillian’s Luna ceremony. I could not believe how fast everything was moving. I could barely catch my breath.
After dinner, I walked up to my room in awe that this was all mine. It was hard to believe that I was going to be attending a real school on Monday and sitting with the Alpha’s sister. This was too good to be true.
Friday morning, I went down to the kitchen to see if there was anything that needed to be done. I was quickly shooed away. I had till 10 for Mrs. Brown to come get me to register. I registered as a senior as I had completed all but 4 classes for high school. I will be joining in the last term of the year.
Since I knew better than to bug Fillian, I went to the training field. It was 6 a.m. so a few people would be here. I immediately recognized Reagan. She waived me over.
“Are you here to train before my mom picks you up?” Reagan inquired as she started to stretch.
“If you would allow it.” I said, hopefully not too eager. “If it is not allowed, could you tell me a good place to run?”
“Well, if you only want a run, there are a few paths in the woods. I was going to let my wolf out but could stay in my human form if you wanted a partner?” she asked.
“Actually, I already have my wolf,” I replied.
“Really aren’t you 15?” she asked.
“Yes,” I said, looking around. “I shifted on my 15th birthday. I know I shouldn’t have, but the future Luna knows and is accepting.” I was rushing through the explanation.
“Of course, she would be,” Reagan said.
I couldn’t tell if that was meant as a good or bad thing. I lowered my head and said, “I understand if you would like to run on your own.”
“No, I think you miss understood. As you know, our Luna is unique. I am not surprised she would not judge anyone.” Reagan smiled, “if you are willing, I would like to test you when you have time. We are always looking for good warriors. Not to mention all the recent rogue attacks, it would be best if everyone was trained.”
I smiled back at her, and we changed, and shifted. Our wolves took off running. My wolf is just a bit larger than hers.
“I feel free,” Skia said to me as she leapt over a rock only to roll back to her feet. I got back in time to shift and take a quick shower before registration.
The smile never leaving my face. Already my dreams were a possibility.
