Damian went inside his room, slamming the door behind him. He paced around anxiously.
He use to have perfect control over himself but ever since she came in, all of those things disappeared. He could barely control his wolf from going close to her. They were mates. He knew that right from the beginning and the most annoying thing was that she couldn't feel it and now she was suddenly getting close to another man.
When he saw how Kellen had acted like he cared about her, got close to her, touched her. He was so mad that he wanted to push him against the wall and hurt him. That would give everything away though. She would completely believe that he was Jace and that was the last thing he needed. He couldn't hurt her, he didn't think he could ever but she could. He bet she wouldn't think twice.
'You're thinking too much. Let's just claim her!' His wolf seemed annoyed and anxious most especially because she wasn't a werewolf. This means she could also be attracted to others.
'After claiming her then what Ryan? Have you forgotten what that old man told us? She will die!'
Ryan went quiet at this and Damian breathed as he went to sit on the bed but he heard Ryan again. 'We can protect her'
'Exactly. That is if she doesn't have to kill us first. Have you forgotten what we did to her kind?'
'The goddess couldn't have made a mistake mating us Jace. After all this years of hiding from your own people, you still met her again. Doesn't that tell you something?'
Damian laughed 'Like destiny? Do you believe in that? And I told you to stop calling me that. Jace is dead. It's Damian now'
'Fine' Ryan was angry too 'Kellen looks like he was interested in her just now. He's quite handsome and you know how good he can get with women. They fall for him quicker than you can imagine'
A knock on the door made Damian blink as he looked up. He didn't need to check to know who was there "Leave" He simply told the other person.
"Why? You invited me here and you're suddenly leaving me alone? It's not fair" Dora's voice sounded.
Damian scoffed "We have work tonight. You better go prepare" There was a hint of threat lacing his words making Dora to pause. She stood there for a while, something gleaming in her eyes before she turned around and left.
....
Kellen dropped Sylvia in her room and looked for a towel which he was going to use to clean her wet hair but Sylvia stopped him, taking the towel from him, she did her hair herself.
"So what are you trying to do?" She looked up at him. He was handsome, charming but there was something strange about his grey eyes which she couldn't stop noticing right from the beginning. She wondered why.
A smile curved up on his lips as he suddenly got closer to her. Sylvia didn't step back, she remained in her position and now their chest were almost touching.
"What do you think I'm trying to do sweetheart? I suddenly got interested in you"
Interested in her? Who would believe that. He wasn't even trying to appear sincere.
Sylvia stretched out her hands to his collar as if dusting some dirt off it "Perhaps, you suddenly wanted some fun..."
"You can say that" Kellen licked his lips "You are beautiful" He stretched his hand to push away the strands of her hair from her face "And I can't help but smell this strong aura from you... A woman from an ordinary family"
"You did the background check then"
"What do you expect when I'm always careful"
Sylvia nodded.
"You don't seem to be afraid even after what happened the other day"
"Why do you think I should be? It isn't my first time seeing someone get killed anyway" She shrugged and stepped away from him. Going to the closet to take out some of her things she had stacked in there.
"Do you like my brother?" He suddenly asked and Sylvia blinked.
"Of course I like Kai. He's sweet, considerate and..."
"I'm talking about Damian" Kellen cut her off.
"Ohh... Damian is not bad. I think I like him too"
"He's not bad?" Kellen wasn't expecting this kind of answer from her.
Sylvia nodded many times.
After how Damian treated her, she still liked him? And it's only been a few days. Except she was talking about the kind of like she had for Kai.
"I like him romantically" Said Sylvia quickly dispelling that thought from his head.
"Why do you like him?" Kellen was curious by now. He couldn't help but think that things were getting interesting.
"You don't need to know"
"I will help you" Kellen told her and Sylvia turned around to look at him wondering in what way he could help.
"We can pretend to be a couple and see if that affects him"
Sylvia chuckled at that, took out some new clothes and laid them on the bed before she looked at him again "There's no need for that Kellen. I always get whoever I set my eyes on"
"Damian is different" Said Kellen.
"Which makes it even fun" Said Sylvia as she put her hands together "Now if you will excuse me I think I have to change out of this wet clothes"
Kellen's eyes narrowed at her. He just had a feeling this woman was not as simple as he thought. She seemed confident and he knew of course that what she said was a lie. She didn't like Damian. She had a goal, a reason for being here but what was it?
He couldn't tell if her intentions were good or not but he could definitely find out.
...
Several minutes later. Sylvia came downstairs and found that lunch was ready. The others were already sitted as Dora and Kai did the serving.
"Let me help with that" She took the dishes from Dora and as usual, they just gave fake smiles at each other. She couldn't help but notice that something was different with this air around. Everyone was silent.
She placed a plate each in front of everyone and when she got to Damian, her fingers accidentally grazed his. He looked up at her and Sylvia didn't know why she immediately looked away. She finished with the plates and took her seat as the food was served.
Sylvia took the seat that was next to Kellen and Dora sat next to Damian. Gerald, Fiona and Evelyn sat next to each other while Kai sat on Damian's other side.
The two young witches were so quiet that one could easily overlook their presence. Just like Sylvia had suggested.
Well, it was better this way since it wasn't yet time to make use of them.
Sylvia only came out of her thoughts when she heard Kellen speak.
"Sylvia will be coming with us tonight" He announced.
Tonight? Sylvia was a bit confused. Where were they going tonight?
"No, she's not coming" Damian's answer was firm and he threw a glare towards Kellen who just smiled as if he didn't see that Damian was already angry.
"She already saw everything anyway. There's no use hiding this from her right Sylvia?" He turned towards Sylvia who gave him a confused look.
"What is happening tonight?"
"It's simple. We are going to hunt" Kellen answered and he moved closer to Sylvia to whisper in her ears "We are going to hunt and kill witches"
Sylvia froze. The hand she was using to hold her fork trembled and she met Dora's gaze at that moment. The woman was looking at her suspiciously.
She quickly tried to compose herself but it was hard. She knew they were doing this but hearing it like this just made her heart turn cold. She will kill these people in the same way they kill her kind! She wouldn't spare anyone who had taken part.
"Like I said, it's not happening" Said Damian once again.
"But I want to go" Sylvia said as she looked at them "Would it be fun?"
Gerald looked at Sylvia. He could smell something fishy and though, he didn't know what she was up to, he believes she knew what she was doing.
Sylvia held Damian's gaze which looked furious right now. There was suddenly tension in the air and Dora had to fold her arms as she watched the scene with a smirk. No one could continue eating.
"Fun..." Damian chuckled darkly "You want to go right? It's fine then. I hope you don't regret it though" he agreed but anyone could tell he was up to something. He dropped the utensils with a loud noise as he stood up and left.
Everyone released the breath they were holding and Kai was the one to ask Kellen.
"What's going on?"
"Nothing you should know about" Replied Kellen as he too stood up and left.
Sylvia couldn't continue eating in that situation but just as she stood up, Dora came to her and held her hands saying "Come with me"
