Chapter 57

540 Words
Samika's POV It is still dark and I have no idea who would come all the way here to meet me. I walk to the borders with Devon behind me. It's been a while since someone visited like this. Brent, Matt, Olive and everyone I knew from human lands. Including my father. I ask for the gates to be lowered down, not caring for my safety anymore. Ever since I got the hang of The Madfur gene in my blood, I have been tapping into that corner. I have no fear and I bring anyone on to their knees. Arnold and I actually went hunting at midnight and I beat him in wolf run and I killed more wild animals than him. Something past Samika wouldn't be proud of. I am surprised enough to see that it's Sarah at the borders. She smiles wide as soon as she looks at me and I run into her arms. I don't think twice about who is watching or what people might think. Sarah is here and that is all I need right now. She meets me halfway and she takes me in her arms, kissing my head here and there. Oh, she feels like home. Her scent. I missed her scent. I missed the way I can be myself around her. "Devon! How are you doing?" She asks Devon and he walks towards us with a smile and hugs Sarah too. It was a group hug and everyone around us was looking wide eyed. They might have not seen this coming. "I forced Brent to give the address. I missed you," she says as she pulls away and I kiss her forehead before looking at her again. Wrinkles are much more evident on her body now. She is growing old and that is making me feel sad. "It's okay. You can even stay here. I don't mind at all. You don't have to go back," I say but she laughs it off as I walk her into the pack and towards the pack house. "I would love to, but Brent needs me too. I don't know what's wrong but that kid doesn't look like himself ever since he came back home a few days ago," she says and I look at Devon. Brent went through a lot during his short stay here at his pack. He even came to know that he is an illegitimate child of Alpha Judah. He is also older than Melissa so he is the rightful heir to the pack as well. Once we get to pack house, she sits on the couch. Devon offers her water and she laughs saying it's her work to offer people food and help them around with the chores but it feels different to be on the other end. Sarah and Devon talked to each other again as if they were friends since childhood. I vaguely remember that everyone that I know on human lands are actually very fond of Devon. "What brings you here, Sarah? Missed Samika?" Devon asks and Sarah squeezes my hand before smiling at me. "There is another reason, actually" she says and I realize that's not going to be a good news. "Brent's mother came back home"
