Chapter 68

695 Words
Devon's POV I still have a hard time believing that the woman who is before me, is my Aunt. Alanna. The one my father had searched for years and believed that she could have been dead. But here she is. With her son. Plotting who knows what. I stare at her until she looks away. By now, it is clear to her that I am her nephew. I could tell about her to Alpha Judah but that could complicate things even more. Melissa is already making things harder by teaming up with Paxton to get back at me. She doesn't like the fact that she shares a father with Brent. And now knowing that her father's true love is alive could make her go insane. And Melissa will do insane things when she goes insane. Like sleeping with my enemy and grasping proper information to use against me or my enemy himself. "How do you people know each other?" Samika asks with a smile and I am actually impressed with her acting skills. No one except her, Alanna and I know what is going on. Brent and Olive are absolutely clueless and it's better that way. "My head hurts," Brent whispers and it is one of the few common effects after the first shift. Every sense is heightened and it messes with your head at times. "Why is everyone talking so loud?" He asks me and I don't have an answer to that. He will have to communicate with his wolf to tone it down. This is another reason why we werewolves speak in whispers around each other. Our werewolf hearing reacts to those decibels well enough. We don't have to scream to listen to each other. "Oh My Gosh! The girl at the corner table is upset that her boyfriend slept with her best friend. But her boyfriend is arguing that he did that because she actually slept with the guy's father. What the f**k," Brent says and I let out a chuckle making Sam and Brent glare at me. Our coffees arrived and Sam practically inhaled all of that. And she orders a refill again. She loves coffee and she just proved that fact once again. "What's wrong?" My great actress of an aunt, asks her son, knowing very well that she was the one who triggered the werewolf in him. "I could tell you once you tell me why you are a werewolf," he whispers carefully. I momentarily forgot that he is the son of two Alpha bloods. Aunt Alanna is my father's sister. And Alpha Judah was the ruling Alpha. So it's obvious that once he got his wolf, he became more prominent about everything around him. He took a sip of his coffee, with his eyes fixated on Alanna. Samika now sat back with a smirk on her face. But Olive looks like she could scream her lungs out at this new twist. "I-I.. how did.. how do you know?" Aunt Alanna asks and damn her acting skills. Samika and I should take lessons. "You tell me how," Brent whispers again ever so casually, taking another sip of his coffee. I have never liked Brent more than I like him now. Just when I am about to sit back and enjoy the drama even more, I see someone staring at me from one of the corners of the cafe. My eyes frantically search to see whose gaze is drilling holes in my body. And in a corner I see her. The witch. The one who sent Samika and I down the memory lane a few months ago in hopes of helping us. She looks like herself yet a little different. And she is smirking at me. But she raised her forefinger and moves her back and forth, in a motion where she wants to say "Come here" I look around to see no one noticing her. As if I am the only one who could see her. I look at her again and this time she is standing, but still calling for me. I know this might take an ugly turn. But I stand up and walk towards it anyway.
