Chapter 22

1108 Words
Devon's POV "You knew and didn't tell me? You f*****g knew my son was alive??" Alpha Judah screams, making even Samika flinch a little. He was going easy on Samika and me just because he knew Sam was dangerous. He still knows, especially now that everyone in the werewolf knows that she is a Madfur. But this is a sensitive subject. His son who he thought was supposed to be dead, and came back alive. Not only did his son come back alive but is standing before Judah and giving him a handshake, with a different name on him. Now this was why I tried to send Brent back before Judah came here. But it looks like fate has other plans. "Alanna's son?" Samika whispers and I look at her wide eyed. We don't want any problems now, sweetheart. "Even you knew?" Judah asks and Sam shakes her head at that. Cool. What a response for such a situation. I wish I could nod my way through or shake my head through situations. "I read a few journals of Alpha Jerome where he mentioned Alanna and her son. I didn't know that was Brent," Sam says, pointing to Brent again. Both Judah and Sam look at me now, their eyes watching my every move like a hawk. I just throw my arms in surrender, and my mind is already working super fast, trying to come up with an explanation that is going to keep both of them sane. "I didn't know that until he stumbled here during Samika's first shift," I say, which was only a partial truth. I didn't tell him the way I saved him from a staged accident years ago. I wouldn't live to see another day if I did tell him everything. So few details, I keep to myself. "And I knew who he was. I had a jagged memory but I do remember him from my childhood," I say again, and I pray to Moon Goddess that Brent shouldn't be remembering all this. I have heard that sometimes head injuries alter our memories. And I desperately hope this is for him. I really do. No matter what happens, or what he does.. he doesn't belong here and the more he is here, the more his life would become a mess. "Excuse me?" Brent says, as he clears his throat and we all look at him who is just standing there awkwardly, with Olive holding his hand. Brent looks like Alanna a lot. Of course Judah will understand and quickly recognise him as his son. After all, they share the same blood. Melissa is just as clueless too. Oh right, this makes Melissa and Brent half siblings. I don't know where that will put both Melissa and Brent together, now that the cat is out of the bag. "I really hope you are not discussing about me. Because I am not one of you," Brent says with another awkward chuckle, but none of us are smiling anymore. "What's your name again?" Judah asks Brent with authority and Brent looks at Samika, for confirmation. I see she only nods at Brent and he swiftly answers to Judah. I watch Samika go and stand in between Judah and Brent. Her eyebrows slightly raised as if she is challenging him to take another step towards Brent. Judah stares at Samika, before flaring his fangs at her. Usually, I would jump at Samika's defense the first chance I got, but this time I stayed back. Samika is someone who made Alpha Judith fall on her knees and submit with nothing but growls of her. I never even got a chance to beat her in any combat or wolf run these days. She is not the same person she was when she came here. Now she is at that state where she is threatening all of us, and of course people should be worried at this point. Alpha Judah gives up, eventually and he stares at Brent one more time before walking out. Melissa shortly follows him. Brent and Olive look clueless and I know that I have a lot of explaining to do. I only hope I can do even half the justice. But right then, Samika stops me and reminds me that there are journals. I give her a minute and she gathers the ones that she did read. "We can either give him the entire thing or just a few pages," Samika says. "Let's just start with pages and go our way up. I'm still not sure how he is going to take this," I say and I myself choose the pages up for him to read. I really hope this will at least make him realize that he had a life here that his mother didn't want for him. And technically, he is also my cousin. My aunt's son. Talk about fate turning tables. I saw this day coming. But I didn't see that right now. . . . . . Alanna fled to human land with her son. Alpha Judah was held responsible but he denied it all. With a son of my own, I am once again tied up. I invited Alanna to stay with me but she denied. She still hasn't forgiven me for what I did and I am okay with that. Because it is reasonable for her to be angry at me. But wherever Alanna is, I wish her well. I wish her safety and abundance. She has been through enough and I wish the Moon Goddess showed her some mercy. . . . . . I found Alanna's address while I was in human land. Her son and Devon bonded really well in the short amount of time that they got. I asked her once again to come back home. But she refused. She told me that she wants her son to grow away from all the werewolf s**t hole. And she also did not want Judah to know that her son is alive and well because he wanted to do everything in his capacity to kill his own son and take Alanna back. So I did not force her again. It wasn't just a matter of Judah or Alanna. But her son as well. My nephew. He is going to grow up just like Alanna. . . I read them once again and walked out to see Brent and Olive sitting together on the couch. And they both frowns and deep thoughts written on their faces. I don't say another word as I hand those four papers to Brent and walk away. He can decide for himself now.
