Telph could not help but slow down in his tracks as he eavesdropped on the two men whisperig like bugs. Telph has alwas been a man who wore his expression in his sleeve and right now he had a look of pure curiousity plastered in his face.
Someone disappearing in the entrance of the Great Lands was clearly not a good sign. Telph's face creased as he remembered the fact that Cain was currently training inside the Great Lands.
'I just wish nothing wrong will happen. Please be safe, young master.' Telph clasp his hands together and shut his eyes. Anyone who would see his actions would think of him as a psychopath, if not a believer of some god.
Back in the mansion, Filzer opened the door of and found himself in complete silence. Telph has still not returned from the city. Even though the old dragon knew that he needed to protect that fragile child he could not help but feel lazy about it just thinking about how the Marquis' eyes and ears would be able to see and hear of his visit in the city.
'Well, I guess I had no choice but to live an eventful life from now on.' Filzer sighed deeply and teleported himself near the gate to the city. Of course, he did so after making sure that he put a defensive barrier in the whole area of his estate.
Walking into the city, the old dragon started to question himself how he managed to get himself involved with such troublesome things.
However, contrary to his troubled thoughts, Filzer had a relief expression and a small smile visible in his face. He was quite enjoying the noise for the first time in a long while.
He haven't even taken five steps into the city before he could already fell many pairs of eyes looking at his direction. The ancient dragon had no choice but to ignore them because they did not seem to be any malicious intent behind those secret gazes.
'I guess that human is just being wary of me after wha happened.' Filzer shook the thought away.
Filzer was walking in the middle of the street where different combat guilds were situated. He was greeted by a different noise this time.
People, whether they were wearing armor or not, were whispering to each other. With Filzer's heightened senses he didn't need to put effort just to overhear what the people were gossiping about.
"Hey, did you hear about the knight that went missing at the entrance of the Great Lands?"
"I did hear about it. Don't you think that it's a bit scary to go out of the city these days? We do not know if a monster managed to go past the entrance or the border after all."
"I just hope that the cat will go out of thebox sooner. Whenever you go in the city all you'll hear is about this issue. The atmosphere has become too dark these days. Business isn't going well."
"Sigh. Let's just hope that this city is still safe."
Filzer continued to walk as he eavesdropped on the two adventurers' gossip. His eyebrows raised but his poised did not change.
A minute later, Filzer spotted Telph in a nearby building where a sign was hanged on the top of it saying "Monster Corpse Trading Company".
'What a boring name.' Filzer stared at the sign with stoic eyes and went inside. A bell rang as he opened the glass door. It caught the people's attention inside the luxurious looking building.
"Oh, master! What are you doing here?" Telph waved his hand towards Filzer. The forner's action made the latter frown.
It was not only Telph's strange behavior which caused a frown to appear in Filzer's face but also the overall feel of the building. The outside of the building looks nothing more than an almost bankrupt business but contrary to its outside view the interior looks nothing less than a very successful business.
"Ahem! As I have told you I can't buy this for more than two gold coins." The person that Telph was negotiating with cleared his throat to get Telph's attetion once more.
"But this lizardae's state if almost perfectly fine if only not for the severed head. And don't you think the cut was clean enough for it to look as smooth as this?" Telph argued.
"That is not the only reason why I only offered you two gold coins even though the state of the corpse is good." The older man's voice became brusque as he spoke.
"May I ask what are the other reasons why you cannot raise the price?" Telph's eyebrow rose.
"Well, first of all you are not registered as a trader and second I do not even know where you got this monster corpse. I am already risking the probability of geting negatively involved with the guards just to buy this corpse from you." The old man now had a look of irritation as he spoke louder than he did before.
Filzer's eyebrow twitched at the sight of Telph getting shouted at because of an errand that Cain and him had asked him to do. Without any second thoughts, Filzer walked towards them and swiftly put his hand in his pocket before activating teleportation magic only in that hand.
Filzer's right hand wihch he teleported back to the estate was currently in his room. A second later, he grabbed his identification card from his bedside table before disabling the magic and returnng his hand in his pocket.
"I think those two reasons will be solved with this." Filzer levitated the ID in front of the old man's face and in an instant the latter's face became pale and beads of sweat formed in his forehead.
"I-if it isn't Count Stan! I we-welcome you to our trading company." The old man stutered. Because Filzer was much taller than the old man it was only natural for him to look down on him.
FIlzer sighed as he stared down at the old man and before glancing at Telph.
"You go and do the negotiations. It seems like our identity has been confirmed anyway. There shouldn't be anymore problems, no?" Filzer returned his gaze to the old man and smile enough for his eyes to turn into a crescent-shape.
