Chapter 58: The Perfect HIdeout(1)

1045 Words
Cain was walking to the mansion and was about to go up the stairs leading to the door, but something had ran into him and made his face become flat. "what the heck?!" Grabbing his face and massaging it, Cain looked in front of him before lifting his other hand which was not holding the mana crystal. Reaching out in front of him, Cain felt a hard material that was not visible to his eyes. 'A barrier?!' There was a barrier surrounding the mansion. "s**t. It's no use finding such a beautiful mansion when I can't get inside, can't I?!!" Frustrated at himself and the situation he currently found himself in, Cain kicked the barrier only to feel a sharp pain in his toes. Shouting in pain and anger, Cain sat on the ground and leaned his head at the barrier. He breathed a sigh and raised the small mana crystal to his face. 'This little guy i sreally pretty.' The mana crystal which was emitting thousands of glowing lights looked really pretty in Cain' eyes. In that moment, Cain flinched after realizing something. Cerberus which he had defeated was a Gatekeeper through and through, so that meant that there was no way that it would not protect a 'gate' even if it was not Hell's. 'If the gate that Cerberus was protecting is not actually the small gap in between the massive rock formation's then what is the gate that he had been protecting?' It did not make any sense to Cain after thinking deeply about it. The small gap that was created after a small amount of his demonic blood drippedd on some part of the rock formation was nnot a gate at all. At the first place it looked like Cerberus was not protecting any gate at all, but that woulod not make sense. It simply could not be. 'Then what if the gate that triple headed dog was protecting was actually down here?' Cain could not even think about how high the possibility that the gate that Cerberus was so desperately trying to protect and keep anyone or anything away was actually down in this underground place? Cain stared at the darkness in front of him for a few seconds without saying or making any noise. The quiet atmosphere had become even more silent now. Cain then stood up from the ground and started to track the path that he took when he was exploring the place. There was nothing remarkable enough for him to remember. However, there was one place that really did not suit the desolate underground space. It was the fountain. Cain's feet traked the path down to the fountain back. Thanks to the light coming from the mana crystal, he did not find it oo difficult to look for it. Cain stood in front of the gorgeous fountain. He stared at it for a couple of seconds. And then seconds turned into minutes. Although to someone else, Cain might look like he was just staring into nothing with the fountain in front of him, but that was not really teh case. He was memorizing the pathway the water had been doing in the fountain. Cain then swiftl sat down on the ground without any hesitation and closed his eyes. The mana crystal in his hands were starting to flicker. In that instant, the silence was broken by a sound of something shattering. There were two ways to use mana crystal, one was to absord the mans inside the crystal and convert it into the user's own inner mana. And second was to break the mana crystal to make the mana inside leak out to the surrounding and go back to nature before being absorbed by the mage. The first one was the most common and popular way of using a mana crystal and only a few people had been using thesecond method consistently. It was because it was a method that was not efficient and not very effective, not to mention, it's productiveness. Cain had shattered the small mana shard in his hand by crushing it with force. It did not break easily, but with enough physical force that cain had exerted, the sturdy mana crystal had no choice but to burst. Wave after wave of the most natural mana had gone out of the mana crystal as soon as it was broken. Cain who still had his eyes closed frowned as he tried to feel the mana coming out of the crystal from his surroundings. Normally, a mage would control mana inside his body and controlling a mana that did not even belong to one's self and was a natural mana was possible but there was only two peoplewho could do it up unitl now. Of course, Cain had no idea about this fact as he did something that was considered as something imposssible. Cain had handled mana that came out of the man crystal. The mana was the purest natural mana that anyone could have gotten. Beads of sweat were rolling down of Cain's forehead, but he did nnot have time to pay attention to such things as he needed to focus of controlling the natural mana. Using his memory of how the water had flowed from the fountain earlier, Cain moved the natural mana at the same way the water flowed. He used his body as the medium for the natural mana's path just like how the fountain became the water's path. Cain did it a couple of more times and each time he finishes a cycle a huge burden was placed in his mind. It was exhausting both physically and mentally, doing something that was deemed impossible. However, his efforst did not go in vain as the fifth time he did the routine, the surrounding's had suddenly became so bright as if he was standing right in front of the sun without melting. Cain could feel it that his surroundings had changed and opened his eyes. For the first time since he fell into this undergroud space, Cain had finally seen how beautiful the place was. It looked more luxurious than an Emperor's castle and more majestic than an ancient Dragon's lair. Cain had finally found his own fortress. His own personal hideout.
