"Ugh… Uhmm. S-Sir, would you like to make an account and be our exclusive trader? O-Of course, you'll have many benefits-" The reception man stuttered as he spoke.
Although he was speaking to Cain, he was looking at the pile of monster carcasses that made a mess inside the area.
And because of that, before the reception man could even finish speaking, Cain cut him off.
"I don't need it. Just make a list of the monsters that I brought and calculate the price. I advise you to make haste," Cain said indifferently.
'I'd like to rest for today. Even though I didn't do much, I still feel so tired.' He thought and closed his eyes as he leaned against the wall.
He was acting like his original age and because of his exhaustion, which came from nowhere, he forgot that he was actually in his teenage form. No, actually ever since he walked inside the Great Lands, Cain was already acting nothing like his current appearance.
However, this didn't do anything bad to him. And instead, it made the people who were studying Cain think of him as mature.
"Yes, sir." The reception man pulled himself together and ran to wherever he needed to go.
Seeing the reception man scurry away, the skinny man cautiously approached Cain.
"Yo, young master?" He called out.
Cain opened one of his eyes and looked at the skinny man.
"What is it?"
"Uhmm. May I ask why did you help me earlier?"
"... You'll know later on." Cain answered and closed his eyes once again.
"Uhm. Young master, since you bought me from Diego, that means I am now your property. Whe-where should I go now?" The skinny man asked.
Diego was the name of the chubby man from earlier. Cain, who had just realized that he didn't know what the skinny man's name was, asked for his name.
"You, what's your name?"
"Y-Yes?!" The skinny man was surprised that Cain was actually asking for his name now. He looked like he couldn't have been careless about his name earlier and didn't ask for his name and so, he also didn't bother to tell Cain his name.
"I a-am Telph." The skinny man, Telph, looked down on his feet as he said his name. He didn't really like his name. And his reason for that was because it was his father who gave it to him. The very same person who abused him and treated unfairly and biased his eldest son, the person who was supposed to be his own father.
Cain, who now had his eyes open, watched Telph's expression.
'I guess he went through a lot of things. I like it.' Cain thought and smiled inwardly. Although Telph looked pitiful on the outside, the resolution and life in his eyes was clear and Cain saw this. After seeing those emotions in Telph's eyes, Cain knew that he wouldn't go down by one or two failures. Telph was strong and will become stronger from now on.
"Hmm… Telph, I like it. It sounds like a word similar to where I come from. Telfe, it means to yell. For sure, the achievements you'll make from today onwards will be spread by people's yells," Cain said and slightly smiled at Telph.
Telph, who was looking at Cain, who was a head smaller than him, felt like a grown-up man. Telph wasn't conscious of it, but something inside him just changed as the surge of warmth and comfort spread through his whole being with just words from Cain.
"T-Thank you, young master!"
"What are you thanking me for? You had better work hard from now on so you'll have those achievements." Cain's eyebrows raised.
"Yes!" Telph's voice grew louder but quiet enough to not attract the crowd's attention.
Cain, who noticed how Telph stopped stammering, smiled again. However, that smile disappeared soon enough.
'Right. Where will this guy live from now on? I guess one more person isn't really a problem since the estate is big. For sure the old man wouldn't mind,' Cain thought, and nodded to himself.
Telph, who forgot his question, stared at Cain with a confused look.
At the same time, the reception man came back with a bunch of personnel who were in charge of identifying where those carcasses were.
The personnel moved at a hurried pace and checked every single monster corpse in there, while the reception man went straight to Cain.
"Excuse me, sir, but may I have your adventurer's id?"
Cain took it out and gave it to the reception man, whose eyes grew wide as soon as he inspected the card.
"Y-Young master Stan?!" The reception man shouted Cain's forged surname.
"What? Is there a problem?" Cain asked. He was baffled at the reception man's sudden raised voice.
"Oh! Nothing. Please forgive my rudeness. I didn't recognize you, young master." The reception man bowed so deeply that it almost felt like his head would slam on the floor. Although he was speaking calmly, his actions said otherwise.
"How would you know? I have never come out of the city ever since I was born. It's only natural you don't recognize me." Cain said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"R-Right! Yes… of course!" The reception man said and bowed once more before ordering the personnel to make haste.
The personnel did their jobs tens of times faster than normal. They had also heard of Cain's identity and the events that had happened those days. After all, here in Heloin City, stories and rumors spread faster than a surging wild fire.
Cain watched them do their jobs with indifference and boredom, while Telph, who seemed to find an interest in what the personnel were doing, watched with great concentration.
After some time, the personnel finished identifying the carcasses and tried so hard not to cause another commotion after seeing the severed head of the leader of the monsters, which led to the fight between Cain and the monsters a few days ago.
The reception man was not only quick on his feet but also in his hands as he almost immediately calculated the whole price and prepared the money to be paid to Cain.
After everything was done, Cain and Telph were finally able to leave the Doire Merchant Guild. The sun was already setting when they left the building.
Cain stretched his body and yawned. It took them a lot of time to trade the monsters' carcasses more than he thought.
"Telph. Do you know where's the place which sells the best food in the city?" Cain asked.
"Yes, young master, are you going to eat dinner now?" Telph, who was also stretching his limbs, answered while looking at Cain.
"No. We'll order take out and go home. For sure, the old man is hungry. Since we earned a ton of money, we should go and buy a feast." Cain couldn't help but smile as he thought of the words 'money' and 'feast'.
He was quite hungry because he hadn't eaten lunch. He was starved of both money and food, but at least now he had some money and could now buy food.
"Ah. Money really is the best." Cain smiled with relief. Cain's face seemed to glow as the light from the sunset hit his teenage face.
Telph, who was watching this sight, chuckled and nodded.
"I agree with you, young master. Now, please follow me. I will guide you to the best restaurant in the city." Telph put a hand in his chest as he declared that he would be Cain's guide.
