"M-me, young master?" The skinny man finally gathered his wits after a couple of seconds and managed to utter a few words.
"Yes, you." Cain answered indifferently.
'Did I hear him right? He wants to help that bastard instead of me. Who's skilled at trading?' The chubby man's eyebrows almost became one line from his deep frown caused by his disbelief.
He was in so much disbelief that he glared at Cain, forgetting about his status. He couldn't believe that the young master of the Stan household had just chosen someone who was a bastard son and someone who didn’t know a single thing about being a merchant.
Cain noticed the chubby man’s glare and looked at him with a stoic expression. The chubby man flinched and looked away.
“You seem to be in disbelief. I wonder why.” Cain smirked, however, his eyes’ smiling at all.
“Ugh!” The chubby man looked away and unconsciously stepped back after seeing the cruel emotion not hidden well enough in Cain’s eyes.
Of course, this was Cain’s exact intention. He intended for the chubby man to see his cruelty through his eyes. After all, Cain was someone who always paid back everything. Ten fold at that.
“Well, I guess I don’t really need to pay attention to the likes of you.” Cain shrugged his shoulders and helped the skinny man to stand up.
“Uhm. T-Thank you.” A small voice came out of the skinny man’s mouth.
Cain stared at him before switching his gaze to the one who was just glanging at him.
“Well, we’ll be leaving then,” Cain said, and started to walk away.
However, right after taking his fourth stride, the chubby man shouted at him.
“Where do you think you’re going? You still have to pay for what you’ve done to us, you bastard!” It was the chubby man.
He wasn’t talking to Cain but to the person behind him who was following him closely and quietly.
“I don’t have anything to give you back- '' The skinny man spoke with his small and exhausted voice which seemed to have taken a huge amount of energy for him to just force his voice out loud.
However, he was cut off in the middle of his sentence by none other than Cain. He put his arm in front of him, stopping him from talking.
“I guess you wouldn’t let him go that easily. Then…” Cain walked back to where the chubby man was standing and stopped when the distance between them was barely a metre.
“This would be enough money to buy him. That’s 10 gold coins. Since you practically said that you don’t need someone like him in your statements earlier, I’m sure that a lot of money is enough for me to buy him off, no?” Cain asked and tilted his head to the side with the usual smiling lips and emotionless eyes of his.
“Y-Yes…? Ah! Yes!” The chubby man’s eyes sparkled as he looked at the 10 gold coins in his chubby hands.
For some time there, Cain thought that the chubby man just drooled while looking at the money like delicious food.
Cain shook his head in disbelief and spoke.
“You must remember that with those coins I have completely severed that man’s ties with you or any of your acquaintances.” Cain made sure to elaborate his intentions to avoid further trouble in the future.
“Yes, young master. Of course!” The chubby man had a disgusting look in his face as he looked at Cain.
He frowned upon seeing that kind of look being directed at him.
“You must remember your words because the moment you go back on it your head will fly from your neck before you even know it.” Of course, he didn’t forget to plant some threats on the chubby man.
“Hiek!” The chubby man felt chills all over his body and beads of sweat ran down his forehead and back.
Cain had such a terrifying look in his face as he threatened the chubby man that he couldn't contain his fear. Well, of course, an ordinary man would feel immense fear after seeing Cain’s expression. Even the ancient Dragon, Filzer, would definitely flinch if he ever saw this appearance of Cain.
"..." Cain said no more and turned around to leave. As he passed by the skinny man he told him to follow him, and of course, due to the fear of angering Cain, the skinny man obliged willingly.
Cain went to the greatest building and sold off the monsters that he had killed and collected. He was first treated like any other customer. No, he was treated worse than normal customers and that was because the employees didn't see anything on Cain except for a small pouch hanging from his waist.
Cain went to the reception desk and asked where the monster corpse trading was located.
The man behind the desk looked at Cain up and down and at the skinny man who seemed to have shrunk in size behind him.
"Did you bring the monster corpses with you?" The man asked indifferently before looking down at the paperwork in his hands.
"Yes," Cain answered without much care.
"Where is it?" The reception man asked without looking at Cain.
"In here."
The reception man lifted his gaze and looked at Cain, who just pointed at the small pouch hanging from his side.
"... Haa. Can I see it?" The reception man asked. He was annoyed and felt like he was being toyed with.
"Are you sure you want me to take it out?" Cain asked with an indifferent voice and stoic face as he stared at the man.
"Yes!" The reception man's voice became loud as he frowned due to his annoyance and impatience.
Because of his loud voice, it caught the attention of the people who were in the same area as them. The crowd stared at them and started murmuring amongst themselves.
The skinny man became conscious of his surroundings and inches closer to Cain and lightly pinched his sleeve.
Cain glanced at the skinny man for a second and sighed. He turned to the reception man once more.
"Then, don't blame me for causing a mess here later," Cain said and made the skinny man take a few steps back. "Spit it out." Cain gave an order.
However, his order wasn't directed at anyone but instead to something. This made the reception man misunderstand Cain's words and was about to lash out when the string that was tied on the pouch to Cain's waist became loose on its own and the small pouch became gradually bigger in size.
"What the…?!" The reception man's eyes widened, then they shook. He was confused at what was happening, but more than his confusion, he was terrified at what happened next.
The now big pouch spit out, no, it's more accurate to say that it vomited out the carcasses.
"AAAHHH!!!"
"W-What the f**k?!"
The crowd were surprised, no, flabbergasted by what they saw. They were first shocked at how the big pouch had moved on its own will, but also the fact that there were so many monster carcasses inside it.
The blood which was yet to dry up after a few days splattered on the polished floor which was shining earlier due to its clean nature.
Cain looked at the sparkly clean floor, got dirtied with monster's blood with indifference and switched his gaze to the reception man.
"Well, didn't I tell you so?" He said coolly.
