Alexander stood up even though his wait was screaming at him in agony. He had heard what Filzer said loud and clear, but he could not understand why the man ho was supposed to be the closest person to Cain was telling everyone to leave him there alone.
Alexander had assumed that Filzer's actions earlier were a sign that he was so worried about the teenage kid that he was taking care of instead of his dead father.
"What are you talking about? Are we not gonna take him out of there first?"
With his shaking voice, Akexander inched closer to Filzer. He was limping to him as every movement he does makes the wound in his waist feel like it was widening. He was thankfl that Filzer had used magic to stop the bleeding, but that did not mean that it was completely cured.
"We can't do anything abou that black orb. We can't destroy it nor can we bring it back with us without knowing if it will explode like what happened to the demonoid earlier. That would put everyone in the city in danger."
Filzer sounded right and rational to every single member of the party, but Alexander could not accept his rationality.
'How could he be so calm when his grandson is lying there in pain?!'
Alexander could not voice out his anger as he was in the same situation as his thoughts.
Although he was worried about the current situation with Filzer attempting to leave Cain alone in the Great Landsand at worse inside a black orb which they did not know where it came from, he still could forget what Marquis Heloin did to him back then when he was fighting the Forest King.
'I am the same as Cain it seems. Both our families don't care about us.'
Althought their situation were similar, it was not completely the same. Alexander knew of tihs fact all too well just with the time he spent observing Filzer and Cain from the front throughout the time they to reach the demonoid's lair before the explosion occured. He knew that Filzer cared about Cain more than anyone elese in this party, which was why he was more confused.
If their relationship were not the same as him and his damned father, why would he leave Cain?
"What do you mean there nothing we can do? Have you even tried to do anything?!"
Alexander tried to muster his strength and shouted so loud at Filzer the other members of the subjugation team were surprised he had that much strength left after getting a huge injury that could theaten his life.
However, contrary to Alexander's words, he did not know. He had no idea that what Flzer said about not being able to do anything was correct. If an ancient Dragon was unable to do anything about such a thing, then how could anyone of lower existence even dream of doing something?
"Don't do anything useless. We are going back."
With those words leaving Fizler's mouth, he turned his back on them and walked away to the direction they tracked earlier.
Alexander watched as the party members fell into confusion before following behind Filzer with their head hanging low. He was flabbergasted towards the party's actions.
'Cain saved you guys too! How could you leave him without looking back?!'
Alexander frowned deeply. His feet led him to he black orb where Cain was silently lying on the ground with a frown in his forehead.
"I will come back. I promise."
Alexander uttered those last words and just like everyone else, he turned around to leave the Great Lands.
The travel back to the Heloin city was gloomy and dark. Although some of them were relieved that no monsters tried to attack them in that kind of situation it only added to the awkardness of the atmosphere.
Marquis Heloin was tied in a magic Filzer created in case he tried to do something bad again.
They soon arrived at the city's gates and their arrival were announced by the guards guarding it. The people seemed to ahve anticipated their return as the families of the people who were in the subgujation list started to rush to them while looking for their family their eyes filled with worry and fear. But after seeing that their families were alright they were crying and laughing in relief.
Although not everyone ahd the same reaction as there were some party members theyc could not bring back alive.
Amidst the people from the city, someone rushed from the gate. His eyes were frantically looking around, and from the rising and falling of his chest it was obvious that he ran all the way to the city from outside after hearing the news of the sugbgujation party's return.
Alexander knew this person. He knew who this person was as he had seen him a few times in the market with the only alive person they left.
It was Telph. The moment his eyes laid upon Filzer who was standing alone in the middle of the families either crying in happiness after seeing that their family members were alive and well or crying in agony for losing someone dear to them.
He had no clue that he would soon become one of the people on the latter category.
"Master!"
Filzer heard Telph's voice. However, he did not know how to face the young man that he knew Cain considered his friend and also a family. He could not face his family because of what he did to his other family.
"Where is Cain? Is he alright?! I can't seem to find him anywhere."
Telph's eyes were still looking around trying to find a single sight of a teenage kid.
"We could't bring him back."
Filzer uttered. Telph was almost not able to hear what he said. It was almosta whisper. But he still realized something more faster than he thought he would.
Cain was not among the people who came back, dead or alive.
