Chapter 45: Leave him behind

1063 Words
Cain could not look behind even though he wanted to know what hte commotion that occured ever since he cut of the demonoid's arm. This was because the demonoid did not let him have any leisure to look back. The demonoid had thrown her rationality away and ws ogin gon a rampage. Her demonic aura and mana were both throwing attacks toward Cain without any break. 'At this rate that demonoid might explode.' If the demonoid continue to rampage like how she was doing the chances of her planning to suicide herself by creating an explossion made by sacrificing her own body and mana. If that situation arises the subjugation party will get caught up from the massive explossion and all of them may lose their life. Of course, not all of them would die. There may be some who would be able to retreat just in time or protect themselves. But this does not guarantee that they will return in one piece back at their homes to their families. 'I need to end this!' Cain needed to defeat the demonoid before that situation occurs. He unleashed everything inside him. His mana which he had been conserving was now being used to its fullest. 'I can feel Filzer's mana from behind. I can leave the monsters and the party's protection to him.' Cain knew that he could rely on Filzer which was why he had not turned aroun even though he had a huge urge to do so. Cain wielded his blade as he jumped towards the demonoidd who was now drooling from the loss of her rationality. They exchanged attacks several times and each time Cain's sword clashed with the demonoid's hair blade and claws Cain's sword only got faster. Unfortunaely, the demonoidwas quick to catch up with Cain's speed and even manages to maintain it. 'I need to switch forms!' Cain had become too desperate that he was tempted to switch into his adult state, but before he could do so he remembered Filzer's saying to not switch into his adult form in front of other people. 'I'll stay like this for now. So that he won't drown me with his rants later.' Cain stayed positive and thought that he would still be able to return home where Telph was probably pacing in the living room, anxious for their return. Cain gripped his sword harder and swung it with the best he can towards the remaining hair blade of the demonoid. The moment the two things crashed a blinding light covered Cain and the demonoid's eyes. Both the sword and the hair blade were destroyed in a million pieces. The demonoid might have regained a little bit of her composure and rationality because she did not move for a few seconds while staring at her shattered hair blade in the ground after her vision adjusted. Cain did not miss this opportunity and retracted his mana before unleashing his aura and creating a sword made from it. Raising his arm, ready to strike down his enemy, the demonoid's sad and lonely voice reached his ears. "I'll meet you soon, master." The demonoid shifted her attitude from soft to murderous and a second had not past before her body exploded. Cain saw it coming but it was too late for him to dodge. The cave quaked as the explosion originated from the deepest part of the cave travelling fast to the caves only entrance and exit. Filzer had immediately set up a protective barrier around the party members himself and Alexander. The cave easily crumbled at the massive explosion from the demonoid's strong demonic mana which was corrupted. "Ca... in." Filzer glanced at Alexander after hearing hisweak vice escape from his mouth. Wiith the cave crumbled Cain must have been buried under the debris. Filzer and the others waited for the smoke and dust to subside while looking at the direction where the explosion originated. "There is no way that kid survived that explosion." Someone within the party whispered unintentionally. It was an old knight, he was not trying to make the atmosphere bad, but was only trying to share his logic unintentionally. A deep frown appeared on Filzer's face as he swung his arm to the side using magic to make the smoke and dust to dissipate faster. His eyes widened after seeing a massive black orb which could fit a teenage kid inside. Inside that half transparent black orb was Cain peacefully lying inside with injuries all over his body. Filzer slowly walked to the black orb and used his mana to cut it in half, but to his disappointment his magic did not do anything. It did not even leave a scratch to the black orb. With the frownd deepening in his forehead, Filzer gritted his teeth and clenched his fist and with his body having the hardness, durability, and strength a Dragon has, he swung his fist down on the black orb. Dust particles arised and temporarily covered the party member's vision. "What?!" "What kind of strength is that?!" "Do mages can exert such physical force?!" Flabbergasted at the situation the party members both the mages and knights were both shocked at Filzer's action. They have seen the cracks on the ground where the black orb was, but unlike the ground the black orb still had no dents nor cracks in it. 'Fuck.' Filzer could not help but curse in his mind. He could see Cain, he was in reach, he was injured and bleeding and yet he could not do anything. "f**k!" Not caring about the people watching the scenario unfold and their reactions, Filzer cursed loudly as a massive wave of Draconic mana was released inside him. 'You must also hide your identity just like how I shouldn't show my adult form to other people.' Cain's voice echoed in Filzer's mind. He ahd negotiated with him back before when they were still inside his domain. The Draconic mana wave he was unleashing was retracted. Filzer took a deep breath to rationalize himself. "We will take the injured with us and go back to the city to inform that the demonoid has been subjugated." Filzer made a decision that for the first time ever, his heart did not approve of. Leaving the child h promised himself to protect was something that he needed to do to protect Cain.
