Chapter 2 - Reborn...?(2)

916 Words
Cain was shocked. He was dumbfounded. He couldn't take his eyes off of the horns on the horns in the foreheads of the two women. "Uwaaah!!" "Oh no! The young master is crying. My lady, he must be looking for you. The young master must have sensed that neither of us is his mother." The old lady looked at someone, who was not in Cain's line of vision, before holding out Cain to that person. The person was the one who gave birth to Cain. She reached her hand to hold Cain when the door to the room slammed open and a man with three horns on his forehead burst in with eyes wide open. "Where is my son? Where is the man that will succeed me?!" The woman who just gave birth managed to get her son, Cain, into her arms before the man got closer to them. The man then took a glance at Cain in her new mother's arm. 'What the hell! This man has three horns.' Cain stared at the man who was glancing down on him. The man's eyes were filled with excitement, however, the moment his eyes spotted Cain's forehead, which had no horns, his eyes soon turned cold. "What's wrong, my Lord?" Cain's new mother asked the man after seeing his cold eyes on Cain. Cain switched his gaze from the three-horned man to the woman holding him. The woman had no horns unlike the other women. Right this moment, Cain already knew that he was a newborn baby, and that the woman holding him was his, the woman who gave birth to him, his mother. "That's not my son." The man's cold eyes glared at Cain's forehead and turned around. He was walking away from them as he ordered the servants present in the room to prepare to dispose of the newborn child. The woman's eyes trembled upon the man's orders. She teared up and tried to stand up but couldn't. "My Lord! What do you mean to dispose of our child?!" The servants stopped the woman from standing, so she shouted with all her might. The Lord stopped and turned to the woman. "That child is not my child. I will only be a child that can succeed my position as the Lord of the Demonic race. And as the next Lord, the child must have three horns. That child has none! Dispose of that child at once in the Void." The woman cried hard as she hugged Cain tightly in her arms while shouting 'no'. The servants in the room had their eyes wide open at the Lord's last sentence. 'Did I hear right?' 'Did the Lord just say to dispose of the child in the Void?' 'I guess we'll never see the child ever again.' 'Poor child, it hasn't even been ten minutes since he was born, but his life will have to end already.' The room became filled with whispers. Everyone inside the room knew of the Void. It was a dimensional space that can only be opened by the Lord's blood. The Void contains nothing, no one and nothing can live inside the Void and if a living thing entered it there would be no way to get out and the only thing left was death. Even though it could only be opened through the Lord's blood, it can't be opened frequently. Opening the Void has a time interval between the closing and the next opening, which is ten years. Furthermore, although it could only be opened by the Lord, the Void doesn't serve him as its master. So, if ever the Lord himself enters the Void he could never come out and could only die within it. "No! Please my Lord, not in the Void. No matter what our child looks like he is still our child! You don't need to take him as your successor! I… I will give birth to another child to be your successor, so please. Please spare our child." Cain was looking at the Lord when he heard his mothers pleas. He stared at her as she begged the Lord. Cain noticed how his mother's voice became a whisper as she said the last sentence. 'Why are they reacting this way? What's the Void?' Cain has no idea what the Void was. However, just by hearing it's name, he knew that it was not a good thing. The Lord fell silent after hearing his wife's pleas. The atmosphere became tense as the Lord's silence stretched. A minute, two, the silence grew longer for almost five minutes before the Lord speak. "Of course, you will give birth to another child. That child you are holding, give it to Ledia. And Ledia, you follow me." The Lord didn't wait for the woman he called Ledia and walked out of the room. Ledia, the woman who first held Cain, took him in his mother's arms and walked out of the room following the Lord. Cain's mother struggled at first, but the servants inside the room held her and she had no choice but to cry as she watched her newborn son be taken away. She whispered to herself as she cried knowing that that time was the last time she will get to see and hold her son. "My son… doesn't even have a name, but you're already killing him." That whisper was meant for the Lord. The servants heard her whisper and couldn't help but pity her.
