Chapter 3 - The Void(1)

1068 Words
Ledia followed the Lord closely from behind. It has been five minutes since they left the room and the Lord was silent the whole time. Soon, they arrived in an enormous room with a throne in the middle far side. The Lord stopped right in the middle of the enormous room and cut his left hand with his sharp nails. Ledia walked toward the Lord with Cain in her arms. She was hesitating to say something and cautiously looked at the Lord. "My Lord, will you really throw the child in the Void?" The Lord clenched his hand into a fist and droplets of blood fell on the polished floor. The scent of the Lord's blood was so strong that it filled the room almost in an instant. The Lord's blood was a strong weapon. It's scent could be a fatal poison that if once inhaled by a lesser being it would die of suffocation. However, the scent was not the only thing lethal in the Lord's blood. The Lord can use his blood as a weapon, be it a spear, a sword, a dagger, and a shield, in other words, the Lord's blood can shape shift into whatever the Lord wants. The Lord's power was also the only way to open the entrance of the Void. This is the reason why only the Lord can open the Void. It was known by many beings as the skill Blood Control. The skill, Blood Control, was exclusively used by the Lord, however, that fact would soon be shaken up. The Lord stared coldly at Ledia, she immediately bowed her head and didn't ask any longer. The droplets of the Lord's blood on the floor drew a small circle, it was a meter in width and length. "Give that child to me." The Lord ordered Ledia. She gave Cain to the Lord, but her actions were mixed with a little hesitation. The Lord noticed this but ignored it as he took Cain with one arm and waited for the entrance of the Void to open. Cain was silently watching everything from the start. When his father, the Lord, took him he felt warmth. He looked at his father as his father looked at him. 'The Void. I think I already know what it is.' Cain thought that the Void that they were talking about was a place where they throw people into to die without staining their hands. 'This child, I'm sure he knew that he will die in a couple of minutes but he is still so calm.' The Lord thought to himself. He continued to stare at Cain as if he was a puzzle that was so hard to put together. However, that wasn't the Lord's purpose in staring at him. The Lord was actually memorizing Cain's features. 'He looked just like her.' The Lord thought unconsciously. All of a sudden, an eerie feeling filled the enormous room and became dark. An abysmal darkness engulfed the room and the silent chattering and footsteps outside was suddenly nothing but an eerie silence. Cain also felt the sudden change of atmosphere and tried to find where it was coming from. But he couldn't find it, no, his line of vision couldn't find it. However, the Lord can. He was looking down on the polished floor where the circle drawn with his blood just a while ago was now shining with a black light. Inside the circle was nothing but pitch black, an endless darkness. The Lord cautiously step an inch closer to the entrance of the Void because if he didn't there was a chance that he would fall into it. He stretched his arm holding Cain into the door and Cain could now see the entrance of the Void. 'Is this man really trying to drop me in here? A newborn child?!' Cain felt the Lord's grip on him become loose and his heart started pounding hard in his chest. 'What the…! Am I going to die again right after being reincarnated?' "M-my Lord, please consider-" Ledia stuttered as she looked at Cain and the door. The Lord ignored her and slowly let go of Cain. The newborn Cain cried as he was let go and fell to the Void. The Lord watched him disappear in the darkness before closing the door of the Void. Right after the door to the Void closed all of the eerie atmosphere, silence and darkness disappeared and returned to normal as if it was never there in the first place. Ledia stared at the floor where the door of the Void was just a moment before she heard the Lord's voice. "I have no child. My wife will give birth to a baby in the following year. You understand what I mean, no?" The Lord wasn't looking at Ledia, in fact his back was facing her, but his voice was cold and authoritative. Ledia knew exactly what the Lord meant and nodded her head as she quietly answered. "Understood, my Lord." The Lord meant that he wouldn't like the news of a child being born today be it whether inside the castle or outside. "Leave." The Lord walked to his throne after ordering Ledia to get out of the room. She bowed first before walking to the door. Before she could shut the door close, Ledia took a quick glance at the Lord, who was now sitting at his throne with his hands covering his face. Sadness filled her heart as she saw the Lord's shoulders slightly trembling. Ledia was the one who raised the current Lord when his parents couldn't take care of him because of their work and strict schedule. She was the one who knew the current Lord the most. And now only she knew that the Lord was suffering deep inside because he killed his child. Just before the door finally closed Ledia saw a drop of blood dropped right in front of the lord and a small door of the Void opened. The door was hardly an inch and could not be seen from far away, but Ledia knew from the abysmal darkness and surrounded the Lord that a small door had been opened. Ledia waited a little bit more before completely closing the door. At that moment, she heard the Lord's silent voice echoing through the room. "Yohan." It was the new name of Cain.
