Chapter 52: It's a Fortress(2)

1019 Words
Cain had been killing monsters using his demonic powers as he ran around the Great Lands for a few hours. He did not think about what will happen if someone were to see him using demonic powers because he has no need for such worries. The place where he currently was was the area in the Great Lands which were considered to be the deepest part of the forbidden place. "There is no way that the people back in the city would feel this much demonic power from all the way here." There was no person competent enough to feel the demonic power Cain was unleashing in the deepest part of the Great Lands from the Heloin city. Cain's plan was to test out his demonic powers to know its limits, but with the current situation he was worried that he would not be able to do whta he had initially planned. This was because other than the weaker monsters attacking him from all directions all the other monsters run away when they see him wielding such ominous mana. The weaker the monster was the lesser intelligence it has. Likewise, the stronger the monster was the higher intelligence it has. The weaker monsters which seem to not realized that Cain was stronger than them fell to his provocation by overtly wielding his demonic powers in his hands. However, his actions of showing such power and making the stronger monsters see that he was much stronger than them made the monsters feel and realize that they would drop dead before they could even land an attack on Cain. "This is too much boring." Cain sighed and sat on a nearby boulder. He looked at the monster corpses lying around on the ground. He decided to cleanly finish them off by targeting their vitals so that Telph could trade them off in exchange for money. 'I can't believe I'm thinking about work right now.' Cain thought to himself. Because of his actionsand thoughts it reminded him back when he was still a knight always reporting for duty to the King and also when he became the King himself. He had nothing to think about but work and work and work again to the point that he would get sick of it every morning when the head chamberlain wakes him up and reminds him of the mountains of paperwork he needs to review and sign by the day. Scratching the back of his head with a frown in his face, Cain jumped down to the ground and used his demonic powers to lift all the monster corpse lying on the ground before activating the new skill he got after learning how to use the massive demonic mana he received from the voice. Cain could now open his own dimensional space. Although, unlike the normal dimensional spaces that Dragons and archmages have, his was a demonic one, which meant that if he were to open it demonic aura and mana of the different demonic monsters he killed would leak from it. He immediately threw the corpses into his dimensional space and closed it. Even Cain himself could not get use to the murky aura and manas the dimension leaks when he opens it. Cain sighed and looked at the sky which was getting darker by the moment and decided to move to another place, deeper in the forest. 'Night is near.' Night is coming and nocturnal monsters would soon wake. 'I can finally fight some interesting opponents.' Once the night arrives and the nocturnal monsters wake up, those strong monster would soon be Cain's opponents. In the Great Lands, nocturnal monstres were far more stronger than daylight ones. Which meant that they could entertain Cain for the time being. And just as he was thinking about fighting stronger opponents, the sound of leaves rustling from his side was heard through the silence. Cain continued to walk and made it seem like he was not heeding it, but in truth , he had his guard up from anything that might pounce at him at that very moment. With another step that Cain took forward, a dog-like creature dashed towards him. It was more than three meters long and one meter big sideways. Cain immediately wielded his demonic powers on both of his hands and tried to attack the monster, but to his surprise the dog-like monster which was a hound anticipated his attack and dodged to the side before attacking him once again. Cain fell to the ground with his back, he was trying to hold back the hound's jaw from gnawing away his face with his two hands. He had made a mistake undersestimating a nocturnal monster. 's**t. I became too accustomed fighting with the weaker ones!' Cain gripped the hound's jaw and with his arm strength he forced it open, breaking the hound's jaw and killing him at the same time. "Whew." Cain breathed a sigh of relief and stood up. He grabbed the hound by its skin and threw it to his dimensional space. Continuing his walk deeper into the forest, he had not encountered anymore monster. Cain found this quite disturbing. This had happened once back when they were marching towards the demonoid's lair. He could feel several monsters watching him from all directions but none of them dared to jump in. It was like they were luring him to a place. A place where the boss was waiting for him. A slight smile appeared in Cain's face. "What a nostalgic feeling." A few meters away, Cain could see a small open area, behind that area was a massive rock formation. But the rock formation was the least of Cain's concern because right before it stood several dozens of hounds like the one he fought earlier and in the middle was a what he thought to be the boss monster. A monster that stood taller than a five meters and fatter than when you combine two elephants. It had not one dog-like head but three. It was a monster that Cain knew all too well. It was Hell's Gatekeeper, Cerberus.
