“What is it?”
Cain asked the woman afteroticing her reaction. The woman looked at Cain and at the magic device respectively and did it several more times before closing her mouth and regaining her composure.
“Ahem. That… you see, I need to ask something.”
The woman asked with a slightly shaking voice. She couldn’t look at Cain directly in his eyes. Her gaze kept flying somewhere in the room and Cain didn’t mind it.
“Yes?”
“Uhmm, are you, sir, perhaps a mage?”
“N-, yes.”
Cain shut his mouth immediately after answering. He had almost said, ‘no’, if only Filzer didn’t speak in his mind just now.
The ancient Dragon, Filzer, told no, ordered Cain to say yes to the woman’s question.
The woman noticed Cain’s hesitation and thought with an even more chaotic mind. She was only calm on the outs, however, her mind was in a panic that she was dizzy.
‘He hesitated! He must be keeping the fact that he is a mage a secret!’
The woman thought and started to sweat. She thought that Cain was hiding the fact that he was a mage because he didn’t want to reveal his true powers.
That must be why he is not wearing a robe for mages.’
Cain was wearing the clothes that Filzer bought yesterday from the boutique. Mages are supposed to wear a robe exclusively for people who use magic. The fact that Cain wasn’t wearing one even though the result from the magic device to measure his mana was higher than an average mage.
Of course, this was all a misunderstanding on her part. Cain was not a mage. He didn’t even know how to use magic since Filzer had not told anything about it.
The woman was lost in her thoughts that Cain had started to feel awkward from the silence between them.
“Excuse me.”
Cain called out and handed out the form back to the woman.
“Yes? Yes!!”
The woman confusedly looked at Cain before seeing the form which he was handing out. She took the form and bowed a few times.
“I will prepare young master Cain’s identification plaque. Please, wait for thirty minutes in one of the tables at the second floor.”’
The woman’s attitude toward Cain went a hundred and eighty degrees. She was extremely towards him now.
‘It seems she saw that I am part of the Stan family, she’s calling me young master.’
Cain thought and was about to nod his head but Filzer intervened.
“We will come back later. We have to fetch some things first.”
He said in an authoritative voice and an aura befitting of an ancient Dragon was emitting from him which made every single person inside the building become wary of him. He looked majestic at this moment.
“Y,yes!!!”
The woman bowed to Filzer. Her bow was so respectful to Filzer that her head almost touched the ground.
Cain couldn’t help but sigh at the sight and followed behind Filzer as he walked out of the building.
‘Is that man also a part of the Stan family? I didn’t know that the people in the Stan household are strong.’
The woman thought as she stood straight and watched the backs of the two men who seemed to shake every single person’s mind and heart inside the building.
‘They will be back after thirty minutes. We must present a place befitting such strong mages.’
The woman suddenly found the resolve to look good in the eyes of Cain and Filzer.
The half-demon half-human and the ancient Dragon had no idea of what was going through her mind as they left the Adventurer's Guild's building.
"Where are we going?"
Cain walked next to Filzer and matched his pace. Filzer wasn't looking at him, he was only looking ahead like a powerful emperor, only he was a Dragon, as he answered.
"After you get your identification plaque we’re going to the Great Lands immediately. We have to get the monsters’ carcasses you killed and sell it to the merchants.”
Filzer informed and only then did Cain realise where they were heading. Filzer was walking to the weapon store. They walked inside the store and anyone who used different types of weapons would be blinded by the sparkling appearance of the displays.
“I’m telling you this just so you know. I will not give you any money. You will need to make a living. I will only give you lodgings and clothing other than that I will not give it.”
Filzer rubbed his eyes and narrowed them before starting to look around.
“Then I will think of you buying me a weapon as you are investing in me.”
Filzer stopped walking and looked at Cain’s back as the latter picked a weapon on the display stands.
“Oh, dear customers, what can I do for you?”
The shop owner who looked like a scammer smiled at the both of them and grasped his hands.
“Hey, old man, your weapons are nothing but flashy. How am I supposed to kill monsters with this crap?”
Cain said without looking at the shop owner. The shop owner was not a blacksmith but a weapon trader. It was a miracle that he was still able to maintain his shop without being bankrupt.
“What did you say-”
“Hmph. I guess you were not a former king for no reason.”
Filzer then commented, cutting the shop owner in the middle of his sentence. The shop owner’s eyes bulged out as they opened wide. He questioned his ear if they heard right.
He looked at Cain who was intently looking at the most normal looking sword.
‘A former king.’
The shop owner cautiously took a step back and examined Cain from head to feet.
“Ah. How annoying.”
The shop owner flinched and stopped studying Cain after hearing his annoyed voice.
“This sword is quite good. Buy this.”
Cain then looked at Filzer with his finger pointing at a sword. The sword was the one normal looking and although it looked like it won’t be able to cut anything it was actually the strongest weapon in this shop.
Of course, the shop owner didn’t know this because he was not a blacksmith nor a person who handled swords.
“How much?”
Filzer asked not to head to Cain’s rather rude order.
“Yes.”
“I said how much is that sword.”
“Oh, that would be four silver coins. It’s quite old and rusty so I will give it to you with that price-”
The shop owner couldn’t finish his sentence when four silver coins were thrown to him one after the other.
By the time the shop owner regained his composure, Filzer and Cain were already by the door with the newly bought sheathed sword hanging on his shoulder.
