Chapter 18 - Adventurer's Guild (4)

The sound of the bell ringing made the woman behind the reception desk alert. Sge bowed deeply to the two men who arrived with newly purchased equipment. "Welcome back, Count Stan and young master. We'redine preparing the identification id for the young master." The woman slipped a small, normal looking card with the crest of the adventurer's guild. Cain opened the card without any hesitation and looked at the contents inside. He didn't expect that the identification card made by the adventurer's guild was much more normal(?) than the fake id Filzer made for him. "Hmm. I guess we're all set." Cain spoke to Filzer and the latter nodded his head. "Then, we'll take our leave." Filzer spoke with his usual cold voice and they both left the guild. While on their way to the city gates, Filzer told Cain that he won't be joining him in his hunt but gave him a pouch imbued with magic which became a spatial dimension. "Use that to store the monster's carcasses. I'm sure it would be troublesome to carry every single monster you kill on your back. Also, make sure not to damage the bodies too much. The merchants won't buy it if it's too damaged." Filzer explained. "I get it. Thanks for the advice." Once they reached the gate, they both walked away from each other. The other towards the Stan estate and the other to the Great Lands. Cain was curious as to why Filzer didn't come with him but in the end he chose to not question the ancient Dragon's decision. It was a long walk from the gate to the entrance of the Great Lands. There were knights and some mercenaries guarding the entrance and some adventurers who were entering. "Your card." One of the knights reached his hand out to an adventurer who was about to enter. "I forgot it." The adventurer said. "Then, you will not enter." The knight pushed the adventurer aside and gestured to the next person in line. "Wait. Can't you just let me in and let me show you my identification card after I come back?" The adventurer pushed the person behind him earlier to talk to the knight. "That won't do. We have our rules here. If you can't present any identification card of being an adventurer or a mercenary then you won't get in. And even if we let you in there is a high chance that you will not come back or maybe you'll come back, dead that is." The knight coldly stared at the adventurer. He looked rather arrogant as he provoked the adventurer. Cain scoffed from afar. He immediately realised what the knight was trying to do. 'He's definitely looking for a reason to completely throw the adventurer away or maybe he's just itching for violence.' Cain thought and shook his head. He went and joined the line which was now a not-so-straight line because the people started to disperse to avoid the commotion that was about to happen. When the line completely vanished, Cain sighed and stepped forward. To be more specific, Cain stepped between the knight who had an arrogant expression and the adventurer who was gritting his teeth with veins bulging in his forehead. The knight's smirking face vanished and was ready to lash out on Cain who disturb the upcoming brawl when he thrusted his newly made identification card in the knight's nose. His eyes widened after he read the name written on the card. He looked at the card then at Cain who was holding the card before bowing his head in an uncertain manner. "You can enter now, young master Stan." The knight was bowing as Cain walked past him. One, two, three steps. Cain spoke without stopping. "If you want to fight then come with me and fight monsters and not humans. I'm sure one knight missing won't hinder the process of your rules, no?" Cain spoke in a cold voice. It was his tone whenever he spoke as the former King. 'W-what?! H-how could someone emit an aura more majestic than the King?!' The knight thought as he started to sweat profusely. He straightened his back and faced Cain's rather small back due to his current appearance, but to the knight it looked like a huge mountain. "Y-yes, young master S-stan." The knight stuttered and followed Cain into the Great Lands. Of course, the other knights and mercenaries didn't have the guts to stop him from leaving as they were having the same thoughts as the knight. Cain didn't pay attention to any of the prying eyes directed at him, no, he couldn't care less about them. He had too many experiences like this when he was a king. It was even worse at that time. "I'm going to the northern land first. Once we reach the centre lands you must wait there first and follow me to the north after ten minutes." Cain walked without stopping or looking at the knight who was following behind him closely. "Yes, young master." The knight answered. 'What could he do in mere ten minutes? No, more importantly what will he do with the ten minutes?' The knight was curious about Cain's order. The knight knew too well that inside the Great Lands one should not expect someone's protection. You must have the skill and the abilities to protect yourself from any type of harm. Once they reached the centre land of the Great Lands the knight followed Cain's order and waited there for ten minutes before following behind him. Of course, there was no particular special reason why Cain ordered him to do so. He just wanted to collect the monster carcasses that he killed before Filzer and he went to Heloin city. Cain followed Filzer's advice and collected only the carcasses which weren't so damaged and can still be used for whatever reason. Cain opened the small pouch but he had no idea how the huge body of the monster would fit in there. And that was when the pouch's mouth suddenly grew big and swallowed the huge monster carcass on its own. It looked like the small pouch had a will on its own as it gobbled the rest of the monsters in the area. 'This is great but it kind of looks disgusting.' Cain thought as he walked backward and watched if the pouch would follow him. And to his surprise the pouch did as if it read his mind. "What a convenient thing. It's obvious that it's created by a mighty being." Cain commented and walked forward and stopped in front of the carcasses that he deemed not-so-damaged and the small pouch gobbled it. That happened a hundred times more before finally reaching the circle shaped open field where the majority of the monster carcasses are. "Hmm. I don't know why but something is telling me to collect all of these. Well, whatever." Cain lightly pinched his chin as if thinking deep about something before facing the small pouch and pointing at every single carcass in the field. The small pouch happily obliged to Cain's command and gobbled every single carcass in there. Cain fixed his position and felt something bump into his foot. It was the head of the leader monster that he fought. Cain grabbed the horn and lifted it up. "It's you. I had a hard time fighting you." Cain spoke while looking at the severed monster's head. At that time, the small pouch was done doing its job and was in front of Cain. He smirked and looked at the severed head he was holding then back at the pouch. "Say, 'ah'." Cain spoke to the pouch and it did as it was told. It opened its mouth which was wide enough for the severed head to fit. Cain threw the severed head in the air and a second later it fell into the pouch's opened mouth. The mouth closed and shaked almost as if it was happy. 'Disgusting.' Cain thought and didn't bother hiding his disgusted expression.
