EPISODE 10

"Gwen, Jake! Show the Alpha what you guys learned today." I ordered them and gave them space for the fighters. "I don't want to see any of you holding back. Fight like it's your last day on earth." I ordered them. I was cold and they knew I wasn't asking nicely. I'm pissed. Jake and Gwen waited for my signal. Their eyes focused on each other, assessing. "Fight!" Jake attacked first with his fist, Gwen was quick to dodge the punches. Gwen maintained his distance waiting for a perfect timing. Jake's arm was caught by Gwen, throwing him in the air and pulling him down to the ground holding Jake in a choke hold. Jake twisted Gwen's little finger, making him loosen his hold. I chuckled. They were putting up a good fight. Gwen was quick to place some distance against his opponent. This time Gwen made the first move. He saw the opportunity in front of him. Jake hasn't regained his balance yet but it was just a trap. Jake faked his unstable state and caught Gwen off guard, a hard left crashed him down to the ground and Jake made sure he stayed down. Gwen couldn't tap since his hands were trapped behind his back. Jake learned this trick fast. I was amazed. "Let him go,Jake. Well done." I said tapping his shoulders. Gwen laid still, trying to recover. I gave him a hand. "I'm sorry Ms. Hunter." he apologized. I laughed. "I taught Jake to fake his vulnerability and why the hell did you believe it? He was one hell of an actor." Gwen smiled. "He fooled me. I really thought he hadn't regained his balance." He explained. "You got your lesson. You maintained your distance. Now work on your assessment next time." I told him. Giving him a good tap on his shoulders. I gave Wayne and Shienna a raised eyebrow. They got my point exactly. "You okay Gwen?" Wayne asked, he doesn't look worried now. Gwen nodded happily. "Ms. Hunter is a great coach here, Alpha. We enjoyed every lesson. She's strict but she's great." He replied. "Gwen! Get back in here. Stop spoiling my name and training isn't over yet." I yelled at him while I took our training elsewhere. The pups followed me and everyone was teasing each other's bruises. Poking each other for fun. I let them do that for as long as there's no bullying. "Yes, Ms.Hunter." he came running back to me in a second. We continued our training in peace, I let them practice on their own while I checked on Chester's work. He was doing a great job with the other young pups. I did the same check up after lunch, everybody was working but no one was worn out. The work rotation worked perfectly well. I didn't feel tired and got to do extra. I went cabin to cabin, teaching them evacuation drills, in case rouge attacks got out of hand. Assigning a member of each house a head leader, for check ups and head counts every twelve hours. They must know every member's whereabouts and assignment so anyone missing will be noticed. I wanted them to learn how to care for each other and how to depend on each other. I don't condone bullying and they have known that after I had a confrontation with their Luna. Gilly thanked me many times for taking her in and standing up for her. She was scared to tell the Alpha the truth because her Luna Shienna was there. I also don't condone gossiping, but that can't be controlled. It's a small pack. Everybody knows everybody here. They know everybody except me. "Ms. Hunter? Is this for the farm?" I heard Chesca asked. She was an elder helping the farm. She gave me the sticks I asked for. One meter long with the ends whittled into pointy spears. "It's for the rogues..to keep them out." I answered awkwardly. This wasn't part of the pack meeting. I don't think they would like to hear what I had in mind with these long sticks. She was surprised. "These won't hold them back, young wolf. " She chuckled. She must've thought this was funny. "I'm not making a fence with these sticks." I told her. Chuckling too. She must be thinking I was going to make a fence out there and that is stupid and funny. "Oh! Then what are these for?" She asked, handing me more. "I'll hang heads in these sticks. Rogues won't be bothering us for a while." I told her. She was shocked by my answer. She looked at me if I was serious and I was damn serious. "Tell me when you need more. It's about time we set examples." She said, giving me more sticks. I smiled. "Don't tell anyone. Some don't have the stomach for this." "Not a soul." She promised. I gave her a warm smile and left. Tonight, I'll be hunting rouges. I've been living like a rogue out there and I've always known which packs to avoid, dead rogues would be scattered outside their borders and that's how we know we should keep out. Some packs hold no prisoners. For them trespassing is a grave offense than any other crime. Sometimes the word "pack" isn't enough for rogues to keep out but cruelty and savagery will do that. "Hi." Chester greeted me. He gave the pups a short lunch break. "Hi." I responded. He looked at me curiously. "For the farm?" He asked. Referring to the sticks I'm carrying. He offered to help me and so I let him carry them for me. I only nodded. That's my way of avoiding a lie. "Can I ask a favor?" I asked, walking beside him. "I have my reports written already but I have a more important task later. Can you give it to Alpha Wayne? You don't have to explain my reports, it's well written and he can read." I said politely. "Sure." He agreed. I told him I'm keeping the long sticks in my cabin since I still need to make more. We chatted a little bit about pack business and I even learned there was a gathering of Alphas in the Kingdom hall of Royals. Lycans. I never liked the Lycans. They thought Tyrants like me were now extinct. I intend to keep it that way, I'm safer without anybody knowing. My father used to say, a single tyrant is a one man army, and I was too young to understand it before but now I knew what it meant. I am my own pack, my own army. Tyrant wolves started all the werewolf breeds, the Direwolves, Hybrids, Lycans and Inferior wolves or regular wolves. Direwolves still exist, Lycans were treating themselves royals, Hybrids were an abomination to our kind according to Lycans but I don't think they're extinct. They are out there somewhere. Inferior wolves were the regular werewolves, overpopulated clans in the present day. Tyrants were monstrous, ruthless wolves that ruled everyone. All Alphas came from a Tyrant's bloodline and it is said that Tyrant's direct descendants have a stronger bloodline than any other werewolves. I'm the last one of my kind. One pure breed Tyrant. People call us Titan Wolf because we have giant wolves, Titan Wolf Pack is the name of our pack but our clan is actually called Tyrants. Not everyone is well informed of my clan's history because we are private people and don't want to be around strangers. "I don't have a date. I was hoping you can be my date there. I can introduce you to some friends and the Lycans will be there. They might hire you after we put out a good word for you." I heard Chester say. He wasn't pushy about it but I can't come and play nice with Lycans. They hate my kind. I smell different and sometimes I think it was because I am a Tyrant wolf. "I don't like Lycans. One of them tried to kill me last time." I refused him nicely. I even told him an acceptable reason why I don't want to go. Chester started being friendly to me and I don't want to hurt his feelings. I have a feeling he invited me because he doesn't want to make me feel left out. Since him, Wayne and Shienna are going. "I didn't want to go, honestly. But attendance there is a must. Lycans get offended easily. We wanted to make a good impression and strengthen our connection to other packs." He replied. I know he was worried about leaving the pack without an Alpha or a Beta even for just hours. I smiled and gave him a friendly tap to the shoulder. "You go do that. I'll take care of everyone and everything while you're gone." I assured him. "You would be a great Luna if you had a pack one day,Hunter." He complimented. I smiled. "My pack isn't born yet." "I noticed. You are an Alpha." He replied. Oh,you don't have any idea. My pack gave you the Alpha genes. I retorted my thoughts.
