Avery's POV
Morning came.
"Judy, Gilly and Dwayne, gathered everybody. Now." I ordered them. I fell asleep for a couple of hours last night and woke up too early. I prepared my presentation, printed work loads and started my day before the sun was up. I had to wake the others to help me with this and they didn't have much choice. Especially Chester. I needed to borrow some things in his office. Today is the day everybody gets to work together.
"Great. Everybody! Settle down!" I yelled when everyone was inside. Chester let me use the conference room where pack meetings usually happen.
I waited for everyone before I started.
"Good morning." I greeted.
The door opened.
Wayne.
I stopped mid air. Everybody acknowledged his presence and I greeted him with a simple good morning,Alpha. s**t! Why does he have to be here?
"I umm. I think.." I couldn't focus. f**k!
"Would you like to give them a few words first, Alpha?" I asked him.
He nodded.. Not leaving my eyes. I left my spot immediately. I need some air. Compose yourself! I scolded myself.
"Hi, everyone. As you all know I hired Ms. Hunter, to help me train the pups but she is more skilled than that. We talked after last night's report and I think she'll also be in charge of some changes here. I've assigned a lot to her and I want everyone to cooperate and help her. So we could be great again. She's here to teach and guide. Respect her like you respect me." He said. Everyone nodded in submission. He left and took a seat a little bit away from everyone.
I sighed.
I think he got it. I needed some space.
Clearing my throat. I stood in front of everybody again.
"Fine. Let's start." Was all I could say. I took some of the papers in my hand and started regrouping everybody. Assigning workloads. Everybody listened and took the opportunity to ask about some vague parts in my plans. Thankfully I've prepared an answer to everything in case I can't elaborate well in my presentation. I discussed the new age of training for pups and some skills they will learn in basic and advanced training courses. No one is exempted in training but only the strongest will be chosen to be in the frontline. I've assigned Chester to start the basic course for the young pups and instructed him to give the pups time for school and pack chores assigned to them. I'll also be helping with the farming, elders will help the young pups with taking care of crops when they're at school or training. Gilly loves animals, she's been taking care of the chickens and cows and so that will be her workload. Cooking for the pack will no longer be a one man's job. Groups will take turns each day. Pups that worked inside the pack house can retain their workloads but still need to learn basic training. I added survival and evacuation training, for an emergency plan. Manpower is still a problem and it may take time for that to be solved so I suggested I will be helping with securing the pack territory.
My eyes caught the clock when I finished.
"It's almost eight in the morning. Breakfast first before working." I reminded them.
Everybody was excited and energetic. The elders praised the changes. I could still feel Wayne's eyes on me so I immediately escaped the conference room. Training started after breakfast and so I went to my cabin and cooked myself some eggs and bacon. Gilly arrived and I handed her a plate.
She looked hesitant. "I should be cooking for you, Ms. Hunter." She smiled awkwardly.
I chuckled. "Do I look disabled to you?"
She laughed. "Thanks for helping us, Ms. Hunter. The pack doesn't feel that scared anymore." She said, biting her bacon.
"I'll take care of the rogues, you take care of the chickens. Otherwise, we'll have no eggs for breakfast." I said, giving her a wink.
She nodded happily. She quickly left after breakfast to do her chores and train. I wanted to avoid Wayne for the rest of the day but how is that possible? This is his pack and the warriors needed me for their training. I left immediately after breakfast and went to check on other working groups, everybody was happy with their assignments, Gilly finished her chores and started training already. I didn't rush the warriors, I wanted them to take their time and rest a little. They needed it. I went to check the warriors on duty today. Teaching them the blindspots in their area. I instructed them to stay together when they spotted a rogue. I forbid them to take on when there are two or more rouges. They might be warriors but they are still pups. Full grown wolves don't fear pups, they feed on them.
"What should we do then, Ms. Hunter?" Dexter asked. He is one of the skilled ones in the pack. He was confident but that could get him killed.
"Call me or Chester. I'll be around here more often. After you guys complete your training, we will have an initiation. Only those who will pass can take on rogues." I answered.
Woah. Wow! That's great! An initiation!
They all cheered. I chuckled. Young teens always loved the cool stuff.
"What kind of initiation, Ms.Hunter?" One of them asked.
I scratched my forehead. "I can't say. I needed your Alpha's approval. He doesn't know about this yet and it's not part of the meeting. You boys can keep this a secret, right?"
They grinned like silly little boys. I laughed with them for a while. Some of them were there when I took on some rogues. They were like boasting their own experiences while fighting and some of them were making it funny. I liked them already. They were good boys.
"It's been an amazing chat, boys. Got to go." I said and went my way to the training grounds. Everybody was taking a good rest after a graveyard shift.
"Ms. Hunter. Good morning." Jake greeted me. He spotted me first.
"Naps over. Let's go." I said and started our training sessions. I sparred with each and everyone of them. I needed to see what more I could improve and taught them a better offense and defense, corrected them for their mistakes and sparred with them again.
"Gwen, give me your best. Don't hold back because I won't." I warned him. He was Gilly's twin and I've seen him fight. He wasn't a bad fighter. In fact,I see his potential.
He looked hesitant at first but my warning gave him permission to do his best. He has seen me kick out his friends and I did not hold back. He threw a punch which I dodged easily but he was quick to throw me off balance, I dived and regained my balance again. "Good job. Keep it up." I encouraged him.
We sparred for another minute before I got him on choke hold. He tapped for release. "You lasted longer than I thought. You still need to hit me next time." I reminded him.
He smiled. "I'll do better next time,Ms. Hunter."
"You should. Next time I won't go easy." I told him.
"That was going easy? You injured everybody. Wait till Wayne sees this." Shienna walked in the middle of the training session.
I looked at the whimpering pups around me. All of them never complained. They looked worried I was going to get in trouble. Shienna was grinning at my face.
"This is training, not a spa. They're not here to be pampered like princesses. "I retorted. Showing her that I don't care.
"They have to patrol later and now they can't even stand. They're all beat up." She reminded me.
I chuckled. "They're werewolves, they will heal. Won't you boys?"
They didn't answer. Shienna is still the Luna and they can't go against her. I winked at the pups who still have a worried expression on their faces.
"What is this about?" Wayne questioned us. Shienna must have reported me through their mind link. She's really a parrot.
"Baby, she wasn't training them. Look at them. They're all injured." Shienna flirted and wrapped herself in Wayne while she made me look bad in front of my students. Lexy is acting up, wanting to tear the b***h away from our mate.
"You have to go easy,Hunter. They're just pups." Wayne said, seeing the pups. Each of them have bruises but no broken bones. I made sure I don't break them since I still need them intact.
