Chapter 8

Mariah pov

I watched him leave then headed back inside. I had to talk to Jordon and Alyssa. I wonder how she is going to take this. I headed back inside, I wondered if every one was still in the office. But it was Alyssa that knew I was already back in the house.

"Hey girl. We are in the family room," So I walked toward the family room. And took a seat on the couch. I looked at everyone Alpha Jordon was there Luna Voliet. And Alyssa.

"Well guys. I have something to tell you.* they all looked at each other then back at me. Jordon stood up growling

"did that son of a bit,h reject you? I'll kill him that mother fu:ker." I chuckled softly he was always like a father to me

"No he didn't reject me but we have a problem"

"Alright, so what's the problem?" Voliet had asked. So I sighed then took a deep breath then let it out. Then I finally told them what Conner had told me. Including about the chosen mate being locked up. "When he goes back. He will go get her and bring her back here to keep her safe. I hope I don't regret this. I told him after all this is over he will have to decide who he wants." Jordon shook his head not understanding but wanted to get up and kill Alpha Reid.

"How dare he try and pull this sh"t again. He knew I would never give my pack up, this is my home. Our home and I kill that a$$ hole before he takes it. When will he be back?"

"Either tonight or tomorrow morning."

Conner pov.

How am I going to explain to my dad that I got Alpha Jordons daughter to think we are mates.

"It's easy he will believe us. My wolf said."

"Yeah I doubt it. But knowing him he wants that pack so badly he will believe anything. Let's just hope he lets Cindy out of that jail cell. In truth all I wanted is to turn this truck around and go back to Mariah. But I had to go home so we could keep this plan going. I saw the look in Mariah's face. The look of hurt, when I told her I had a chosen mate. I wanted to hold her and mark her right then. But I had to wait. When I finally made it home. I parked the truck and jumped down. I went into the house. And I felt something was off. Something weird in the air. I just didn't know what it was yet. I walked into my dads office and saw something that I wish I never thought I would ever see. I see Cindy sitting in a chair laughing with my father. What the h3ll is this all about? I walked into the room slamming the door behind me. They both jumped when the door slammed. Her eyes were big but she was smiling.

"So,did you convince her that you two are mates? Your father and I had come to an agreement, if you marry her for just a year. He will make you alpha and I will become the richest woman in this town." I was so confused. We didn't have any money, dad had gambled it all the way. He must be testing her. Well she failed. Alright well at least I now know how she is. Well I have to play this really well now. And to out beat both of them.

"Yeah I sure did. She believed every word I said. Now all I have to do is get her to marry me before she turns eighteen and get her wolf. By then she will know for sure that we are mates. I even held her hand and talked to her for a few minutes. We walked around the territory and even stood by a beautiful lake" I could tell Cindy didn't like the fact I was close to my so called mate. But I have to remember I have a game to play,

"Well I'm glad you got her fooled. You just remember your my mate this is only for a year Conner. That's all just a whole year. And then we will be together. Your dad will give us the pack and step down."

"I told her I would be back tomorrow. She doesn't know about you just yet. But once I had her twisted around my finger. I will be bringing you up and making her jealous just to hear your name." I really hope they are buying all of this. I can't offer to get myself killed. Well I'm going to shower and get a little rest. I have a long day tomorrow"

"Conner wait" my dad had said. I turned looking at him one eyebrow up. "Yeah dad what's up?"

"I'm proud of you. But remember you will be the alpha of this pack once I take control over Jordons. You make that happen. You hear me."

"Yeah dad I hear you. " I turned towards the door. I wanted no part of what he was doing. And I am still not sure about Cindy. Whose side is she really on? I'm going to need to find out really soon, I opened the door to my room and I needed a long hot shower. All I could do was think about Mariah. I took my clothes off tossing them in the hamper, turned the water on and got inside. I was about to fix myself when I heard the door to the bathroom open, I rolled my eyes. I knew who it was. I just wanted to be left alone and take my shower. But that's not going to happen.

When she opened the shower door she was already naked. She stepped inside and closed the door. Her arms went around my waist.

"she started kissing my back when she asked me, " Do you want some company." I really didn't, I just wanted to finish myself off and relax the rest of the night, I needed to know I really did. So I turned around and looked at her while the water was running down on both of us.

"Cindy, who's side are you really on? This morning you was crying wanting out of those cells, and when I get back you two were laughing in his office. What's up with that?" when I said that. She took a step back to look at me.

"What do you mean whose side am I really on? Conner, I am on our side. Our side Conner. What else do you want? All I want is for you to hurry up and get done with the year marriage so we can be together. That's all." somehow I wasn't sure if she was being fully honest with me, so I decided that I would spend the night alone. So I could think, I had to think of something to get her out of my room. I didn't want to see her right now.

"Cindy, I can't have your scent on me when I go back. She will smell you on me,"

"Oh really. Well she won't be able to smell this," she went down on her knees putting my co"k into her mouth. She started deep throating me. I loved how she did it. But I pulled her away from me and stood her up on her feet

"you don't need to do that honey, I love you. You need to know this. I love you. But im spending the night alone tonight. I need to be able to concentrate on what I'm doing tomorrow and not think of what you did to me the other night. So I'm going to shower, dry off and go to bed. You need to just go home. When I'm done tomorrow I will be at your house to update you. You will know every step of the way okay." I heard her sigh, I knew she was upset. But I needed to do this. I watched her put her clothes back on,

"I guess I will see you tomorrow. I will know if you've touched her Conner and if you do. Do not come to my house." she walked out slamming the door shut. Yep she's pissed. Do I care? Nope. Because I have my own problems with my dad. Right now I just need to be by myself so I can relax.

Mariah pov

Well they didn't come last night. Somehow I was so thankful for that, I didn't want to see them together. But today is different. I laid in bed last night thinking to myself that I needed to relax. If this is meant to happen then it will happen. I will just have to stay strong, and not let it get to me. I spent most of my life not having a mate. I'm not going to let it bother me. I knew he was coming today. He called Jordon and told him he was on his way to see me. Jordon didn't tell him that I've talked to him. I took a shower, dried off, and got dressed. Putting on ripped jeans and a shirt that had a chain around it. And a pair of knee high boots, my hair was over my showers. I did a little makeup, put on some earrings and I was done getting ready. Alyssa was in my room and she said I looked hot. She knew I was nervous seeing him again,

"Mariah calm your nerves, I can feel how nervous you are."

"Sorry, I'm just nervous, that's all. I don't want to see him with her, Alyssa. But I know he's going to bring her here for safety"

"How about this, once he's here. I'll tell him I need to speak with him. That way you can have some time with him. She needs to think I am his mate right. So let's play this game. We need to do this right. If we are to bring this jack a$$ down then we need to play it right."

"Yeah you're right. It's you that he has to swoon with my mate." she rolled her eyes at me.

"Mariah I don't want your mate. You can have him. Somewhere out there is a mate for me,"

Conner pov

I hate this. I forgot I had to bring Cindy with me. So after I drove I had to turn back around and tell her to pack a bag for one day. She jumped for joy because then she would be watching me for a whole day. I hated that she tried to touch me on the way back to Jordan's.pack, I had to call Jordon to let him not to say anything about my dad since Cindy will be coming with me, he agreed. We were almost there. When I pulled the truck on the side of the road and turned it off. I looked at her and said,

"Listen Cindy, I'm only going to tell you once. Do not try to make her jealous. Do not try and pick fights with her. This is her pack. You will be respectful to her, is that clear? Her father is the alpha, I don't need to be talking to him about a deal to get you out of the cells. This is only for one night only, if you do anything I will drag your a$$ out of here in a heartbeat." her eyes looked pissed at me and her lips were pierced. I knew she was upset. And I knew I was going to hear about it. So i said this

"Remember you are not marked yet. Until I am alpha." her face turned calm, she nodded but she still said a few words to me, then she didn't say another word to me until we got there,

"Well, you listen to me Conner, I understand this is her pack. And she thinks you are her mate. But you are my mate. If she tries to start with me i will finish it. I know I have to share you for the day. That doesn't mean I have to like it, let's just get there so we can go back home. Because your attitude stinks right now, it almost seems you did find your mate." she hit the ball right on the head. But I couldn't tell her that. I played it off.

"No Cindy, I didn't find my mate. You are my chosen mate. We agreed. So let's just get this over with, just remember I have to play a long. Okay,*

"fine."

I started the truck back up and took off down the road. I couldn't wait to see Mariah again. But I knew I had to play it cool. I really didn't want Cindy here with me. The picture of her in my dads office laughing just would not leave my head.

"How is it going so far?"

"They're arguing but they're off again."

"Just make sure they get there and keep an eye on them"
