The following day brought an uneasy Loona pacing back and forth in front of my doorstep. What's unusual about her visit is that she didn't inform me at all. She didn't ring the bell nor did she help herself in like usual.
I tie my hair up and quickly yank the door open, finding the she wolf so out of it. When the situation remains the same, I take the initiative of talking first.
"How long have you been standing here?"
"Thirty minutes." She responds absently, pushing through me while biting on her nails. Confused, I follow her to the kitchen and find her gulping down a bottle of water. Then she sets it down on the counter with a slam, making me clutch my heart out of shock. I just woke up.
Loona has this habit of mumbling a bunch of numbers under her breath whenever she's stressed. It helps her calm down. And she's doing it right now. I wonder what the problem is this time.
"Okay here's the deal. I can tell you now or you're gonna have to hear it from him yourself. It's up to you, but either way. Promise me you won't freak out when you do."
"Should I be worried or not?" I inquire with a raise of my eyebrow. Loona shakes her head.
"Not really. Maybe. I don't know. You'll be find. You'll be fine...." She ends up assuring herself in the end of her statement. "You'll be fine."
That's enough to perk my curiosity. With a sigh, I set my cup of coffee down before crossing my arms over my chest. "What is it?"
"What is what?"
"What is it you want to tell me?"
She scratches her head. "I... I don't think I should be the one telling you."
Excuse me what?
My mouth opens and then closes. Does she know its rude to get someone's full attention only to deny them the hidden story? It's just like saying 'hey, I've got something to tell you' seconds before uttering 'oh never mind'.
Annoying as heck.
It's clear as day that she's out of it right now. What time did this girl even sleep? I can practically trace her eye bags from way over here. I'm near sighted. And that's saying something.
"Fine. I'll let you off the hook just this once." I tell her. "Go upstairs and get some rest. You look like a zombie."
Normally I'd get a sarcastic remark in return. This time however, I don't. Loona sends me a tired smile before heading up without a word. Facing the direction she disappeared off to, I take a sip from my coffee. I wonder what's making her act this way.
Thinking about Loona having problems makes me recall what had happened last night. After I've managed to get Abel to change, he refused to leave my side the rest of the night. I've caught Mrs Parker sending me some sly glances once in a while across the room- to which I found quite weird. When it came to driving me home, Abel almost looked reluctant to let me leave the car. After many failed attempts, I ended up snapping at him while squeezing in the excuse of how much I was tired.
The stern look that crossed his face didn't leave my mind until I eventually fell asleep. Now that I think about it. What gave him the right to be angry?
As I'm washing my mug, my phone vibrates, indicating a call coming through. Catching the name of the caller, I slide the screen to answer.
Multiple murmers echoes from the line before Abel's voice comes to light through the loud speaker.
"I'm bringing my friends over." He says.
"With who's permission?"
"You of course. They're cool don't worry. We'll be there in an hour."
"Maybe next time. Loona's here."
"Did....did she tell you something?"
"Not really. Is it something I should know?"
Before Abel can respond, another cheery voice takes possession of the phone call. "Hi there little one! Which one do you prefer most? Doritos or pringles? Our boy Abel's bought you some snacks that can last for two months! We'll see you soon. Can't wait to finally meet you!"
And the line ends. Guess there's no escape route for this one. It's back to the usual routine now that Mrs Parker isn't in need of my presence.
The cleaning process around my living room leaves me sweating like I've ran a marathon. I stink like minced onion. After i'm satisfied with the view of my house, I saunter upstairs to give myself the shower I oh so desperately need. Time ticks by and before I knew it, I'm opening the door to welcome a number of men who file in like soldiers. Multiple 'hellos' are thrown my way as they venture into the halls with plastic bags. There are four heads present. Excluding Abel who's still outside parking his car.
"You must be Elka." A fair skinned brunette approaches me with a smile, displaying a set of dimples that makes me internally cooe. "I wasn't able to introduce myself at the party last night. June Klyner. That short one over there is Chris, pale one is Min, and those two are Taejin and Jace."
I nod my head as I try to catch up with his introduction. Since they're Abel's friends, are they perhaps werewolves? I can confirm it later.
"Nice to mee-" I wince a little. My head's hurting again.
June lowers himself to capture my gaze, reaching out a hesitant hand. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. Just a little headache."
It's at that same time I feel an arm snake around my waist before a pair of soft lips find my forehead. Crimson brushes up my neck and I squirm away from Abel's hold, surprised.
"W-what are you doing?"
June stifles a laugh."Give the lady some space to breath man. You're gonna give her a heart attack."
A heart attack is an understatement.
Abel smirks as he shuts the door with his feet since his hands are full. "Then I guess she'll have to get used to it."
